Best advice for learning dx calls is running Morse runner community edition and do arrl dx. After awhile you’ll know where they are based on the prefix. Leave everything unchecked until you get better and roll the speed back. I think my buddy w5mx has a few videos up from the contest station running Europe , Russia and Japan. It’s the little islands that throw me off. It’s a game changer. If you need help learning the f keys, let me know
Yes I second that…Morse Runner Community Edition. I thought I left a similar comment but I think RU-vid may be doing something funny. I’m using it to build my comprehension and instant character recognition. The next plateau to get past.
You're definitely not alone when it comes to struggling with DX calls. A lot of times they're right above the noise, and I can only catch a few characters. Yesterday I was trying to copy a French station that was super weak-I think it was probably F1BLL after seeing your log, but I logged F1BWL after sending a bunch of question marks. Spotting on WWFF usually helps me snag a couple DX if the conditions are decent. I also got IW2NXI yesterday. I missed out on the M7, I'm a couple M's short. I'm on the waitlist for the next N0SA drop. Those keys are like the Begali of POTA! POTAplus is such a great extension. Definitely a must for serious hunters. Also If I can't hear WB0RLJ, something's really off with propagation!
@@Tim-K5OHY Thanks for your comment, Tim. You’re making me feel better! Haha. I shared with you my Utah State Park activation a couple weeks ago. I struggled to copy multiple DX but others I got the first try. I had a 6 character Czech call come to me and had a clean copy the first time. But I realized it was likely because I had already had 10+ DX up until that point and I shifted my brain to anticipate anything! Whereas prior I’d see a DX 1 out of every 500 QSOs instead of 1 out of 10. N0SA is absolutely the Begali of POTA paddles. Especially that M5 it’s my highest confidence portable key. 73 om
Its crazy what can be done with low power. I have been doing it for years and still get a rush with every contact. I am glad ro see another enthusiastic cw op. Hope to work you soon. 73s WA6MOW
This was my first time losing my sack in the bush. But I do agree that a neon green weaver would prevent further mishaps such as this. 73 buddy catch you on the bands again soon!
Hi Forrest. What is that rope you are using for your throw line? It looks way better than what I use. Mine is heavier and always gets tangles. 73 de KM3STU
I believe this can be found on Amazon as well! Has worked great for me. Go watch the K4SWL video he shows how he winds it. But, I still occasionally get very bad tangles and spend 20 mins untangling. forestershop.com/forester-arborist-throw-line-kit-rope-throw-bag/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrp-3BhDgARIsAEWJ6SwMfm_0Jvt016G7GhspivsaLq9p0xqmyBGJ0oeG9mC7Yakmb6rhsFQaAghgEALw_wcB
It's this guy: forestershop.com/forester-arborist-throw-line-kit-rope-throw-bag/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrp-3BhDgARIsAEWJ6SwMfm_0Jvt016G7GhspivsaLq9p0xqmyBGJ0oeG9mC7Yakmb6rhsFQaAghgEALw_wcB But I opted for a lighter throw bag!
We tried doing wwff. We are pretty savvy but still found it hard to navigate and didn't end up submitting it. If you end up doing a video about it, maybe we'll give it another shot 😉 73 Mike N4FFF es Becky N4BKY
She says it best when she says nothing at all. Huh, Mr. 1000? I told Larry to go ahead and leave you off of the M9 mailer that'll go out here soon. RDEFHW yeet yeet B2B 73 ym (yung mane)
