What do the different colors and patterns of the Ghitra mean? In this week's #QTips episode, we're talking about the colors of the headdress worn by Qatari men - the Ghitra!
It's also known as the Shemagh and Keffiyeh.
Some people associate the different ghitra patterns with tribes, that's actually just a myth. There's no pattern that belongs to a specific tribe like how different 'houses' in Scotland have their own kilt patterns.
Officially, the only colors worn by arab men is White, White on White, Red and White (Common in GCC as well as Jordan and Iraq), Black and White (most common in Palestine), and Green and White (historically worn in Iraq).
