Have a great trip Steve! I’m flying to Paris myself so I didn’t get to update yet! Will have to wait till I get back to test out. Glad to hear you’re gigging the QC!
I'm watching this while the update is installing... I'm definitely going to be excited to see your video on sidechaining because I am one of those people who does not understand what it is... But I hear people rant and rave about how it can clean up muddy mixes... Somehow..
@@SteveSterlacci not at all mate , I think you’ve misunderstood my comment It’s just a tongue in cheek observation that Neural have created a marketing strategy that genuinely gets the guitar community excited about a feature that will funnel them a ton of cash for plug-in sales It’s genius!! Wasn’t intended as a reflection on you or your channel in any way
Considerably easier to look like a marketing genius when your products are genuinely great. I used to be all analog only but these plugins changed me. I wouldn’t be buying this shit if it sounded like my zoom multi effect from 2003
Hi Steve, informative video. I was wondering now this update has dropped, and Fender appears to have made significant strides with TMP, which modeller you would recommend for a user new to modellers who is looking to replace a good portion of their pedalboard with one, whilst retaining a few of their more esoteric pedals not easily replicated by the modellers.
Thanks for checking out the video! I'd say the hx stomp/XL is the best bang for buck to incorporate into a pedalboard and be it's own amp sim if you need it to be
@@robdavies9478 that's my first choice. I have a video on my tour board that I'm using right now and it's flawless for 2 years now. Pedals can still come and go, totally ampless
Perfect timing, as my new Helix Floor and backpack are scheduled for delivery tomorrow! (sold my last Helix a few years ago, and went to using a HX-FX with amps in 4CM) Not a problem though; I own several Neural plugins and others guitar plugins; made more sense to build a dedicated computer software rig for guitar
I got your gigging preset. When I brought it up and was listening to it it sounded like it was less clean than it did on your video. More gain. Anything tips on what I should look at to clean that up? My input from guitar is not even close to peaking.
I keep my input gain at 0, sometimes +3 for more gain. I am also using single coils. If anything, set input gain to 0. If its just a matter of pickups being hotter, decrease the amp gain by a few and see how that goes. Where is your input gain and what pickups?
Here’s my question. Could you use either of these two sets of amps in YOUR touring with Jessica Lyn or are they really reserved for much harder styles. Would the clean tones replace your Matchless, would the lead tones replace your Matchless/ODR tones? Would these be useful for a pop, rock, country or top 40 gigging player?
Eh, that is so subjective it would be hard to give a great answer. I will still use my amp capture, but maybe I could steal some of these FX if I wanted to? For now, nothing is being implemented since my touring set up is already done
@@SteveSterlacci totally subjective, but that’s what I want, your opinion, which has value. I understand that the time is not right. Maybe down the road.
My 2 cents about it: Yes finally they released it, in my first 24 hours I feel the best parts are the minor additions like the transpose which I feel it tracks better than the pitchshifter. I'm not that excited about the plug in amps, the stock ones or captures do just as good if not better, but the FX do make a difference. Plini has some great mods and time based FX and Gojira has one of the best virtual whammy pedals out there. Hopefully it won't take an eternity for other plugins to be added since the Asato FX and Rabea Synth would make this a really interesting unit that can actually, for me at least, compete with the versatily of the Helix. Yes it's DLC, but for a first attempt to something physical from a relatively small company I kind of expect it. Line6 used to be like that up to the HD series and, to me, those paid extras didn't really improve anything. Neural on the other hand has a user base that probably owns a few of those plug ins already and the inclusion of a free one for existing users was actually a good move. That said I'm happy about it and hope the compatibility expansion doesn't take an eternity like it did for Cor OS 3.0
I don’t own a quad cortex, I remember Ola Englund mentioned on one of the latest quad cortex videos that most amp models that are on the plugins have already been modeled on the unit with another name, wonder how accurate this is.
The amps at least I think he is correct on. More for the artist themed plugins I suppose it makes the most sense. Unless they just use a totally different process for those
Rant! … I’m as exited as everyone else at having to pay for my updates. Have neural created 2 tiers of tone ?and if the embedded plug-ins don’t sound significantly better than the free ones … and by better I mean £100 buckodoos better for a rack of 6-8 blocks per plug-in… should I sell my quad cortex and jump to a platform that still support there unit for free at least for the moment. Marketing genius.. teenage neural DSP engineering maybe. For transparency, I sold my QC at the launch of the TMP . Hopefully now I have 5 years of free updates before fender figure out how to charge me for tone and EQ the feel and tone of the TMP is A SMUDGE kinder on the ears and under the fingers than I ever found the QC .. not tried ax fx and the free updates they continue to provide since the Stone Age. seriously considering amp X by Thomas B. Am I just falling out with digital. 😮
Ignore the support. Buy the device for what it is, just like normal pedals. I'll never pay for an update or subscription to my guitar playing, that's for sure.
6:56 That is indeed, to quote you, your uneducated opinion. 😜 Seriously, check out Plini if you haven’t already! These tones make WAY more sense in the context of the mix and in his style of music. Also, wishing you all the best on your upcoming tour!
@martyshwaartz971 I just noticed that when people demo presets on RU-vid, it always sounds way darker in real life. I'm not sure if that's a common thing. I can get some amps to sound pretty . Cutting that frequency does help
2 месяца назад
Could be also your room not being treated correctly. I own h8s and I had to do a ton of test on placement and volume. Also there are switches on the back that cut frequencies
@@travissimpson7829I notice that too, unsure the cause. Although I don’t notice that with the Neural DSP plugins I’ve tried. Edit to add I play mainly fractal and they have a tilt Eq built into the amp block that easily darkens or brightens with one knob. Idiot proof.
@@martyshwaartz971 FM3 is Chinese made garbage...I had one and it failed. Also, the interface sucks. Same goes for Tonex interface...and the stupid input gain issues. You are also adding latency with 2 independent DSPs
