Replacing the Zeraxa Quadcopter motor is easy once you know that it needs an 8.5mm motor. I noticed that it is similar to the one used on my Parkzone Sukhoi SU- 26. The motors don't have to be a precise match since the gyros keep things steady. There are some screws under the LEDs and landing gear that are hidden. The LED covers are hard to get off as there is a small clip at each end. They will pop off with moderate force. You'll need a very small and long Phillips screwdriver for the motor pods. Note- The propellers are CW and CCW and mark them before you take them off. The motors are also CW and CCW. The prop holding bolt is a little bit larger in diameter than the rest of the body bolts. The brass gear can be reused. Use heat from a small torch to heat the gear and slide it off and on the new shaft. The Turnigy Graphene 750mah lipo battery makes a huge difference in performance. This is a fun quadcopter and it can haul the EFC-721 720p HD Video Camera with little shake evident.

I got a Walmart Sky Viper S1700 because it looked like it had some motor parts that could work with the Zeraxa and it was super cheap. However, in manual mode and without the prop guards, the Sky Viper is a blast to fly. It's much lighter than the Zeraxa and incredibly nimble. The transmitter beeps when the Viper's battery is low so the system is using telemetry which is amazing. Manual mode makes the Sky Viper a great trainer for drone racing as it has pretty high rates and the copter can really rocket in all axes. Huge bang for the buck!

Notes about flying in the wind: This quadcopter has high rates so it can tilt about 45 degrees which can power through moderate wind. However the higher you fly, the stronger the wind and at some point 45 degrees of tilt isn't enough. Any time you feel that the quadcopter is being blown away, immediately go to descend/low power to lose altitude. There's less wind at lower altitude and then you can recover and head back. The Zeraxa 2.0 has an excellent flight control board. The best panic decision is to hit the auto land button. Even when it flies out of range it will automatically land fairly well so it's a good design. The best advice when there is a breeze is to keep upwind at low height and when in doubt, don't fly. Wait for a less windy opportunity.
