I have this stove, it’s significantly more efficient than my oil heat. I also have a propane fireplace. I use my pellet stove as my main heat for the house, and my oil as secondary. Propane fireplace kicks out some serious heat I usually only run it first thing in the morning to warm the kitchen and living room up for the day.
Indeed! It's running right now. -7* and windy was the coldest night so far, my coolest room was 68* We have heated with it almost exclusively. I did have to replace the convection blower this fall. Blower would seize when getting hot and stop. This would cause an over- heat shutdown. Replaced blower, reset snap disc and been running for two months since.
@@Fireinahorn Thats outstanding! I really love the look of that stove. Quadrafire seems to have the best looking stoves, imo. Kind of a clasic, decorative look. Especially coupled with the porcelain enamel. What is the square footage of your home? If you dont mind me asking.
@@kyle3427 1,991 SQ. Ft. Colonial. the stove was installed by the prior owner, I probably wouldn't have chosen white there are a lot of nice enamel colors you can choose from there.
I have been shutting it down & vacuuming out the fire box ash about every 5 bags of pellets. At that time I scrape out the burn pot, and pull the handle a few times to open the trap door at bottom of the burn pot. I have only been getting about a hand full of debris and clinkers using Energex pellets here in Pennsylvania.
i was curious how long a person could go without manually cycling the fire pot. i know the tray underneath can go about a week or so but was concerned the fireplace would shut down if the firepot wasnt cleaned a few times a day?
It has just snapped cold here in the last week or so, I am learning as well. I have been cycling the handle about every 5 bags at shut down. I can definitely see how too much build up in the burn pot would cause a shut down for air restriction though. The "self clean" mode it goes into every hour for 90 seconds or something like that ? seems to blow a lot of the crap out of the pot and keep the vents clear.
Is it supposed to be shooting embers all over the inside like that? I'm a pellet stove newbie. I just haven't seen that happening in videos for some others.
It does that during shut down ,and during the burn pot self clean sequence every 90 min I think. Once it's warm it starts and goes to a full flame pretty quickly. We heated 2,000 sq. ft. Colonial with it almost exclusively last winter in Pennsylvania and burned 3 ton. with no issues. Basically heated all winter with pellets, for the cost of our heat pump running for the two coldest months.
Fireinahorn thanks for the info. Chester county PA here. Hoping to supplement our heat pump in a 2200 sqft rancher. Half of that is finished basement though
David Barbercheck this is the only stove I have ever had in this house. Last winter we heated 2,000sq.ft. from October through April in Pennsylvania with three pallets of pellets equal to 3 ton.
