I personally prefer to watch mechanical heavier playstyles like clawz or toxic to more cerebral players like rapha. (even if rapha has gotten better mechanically).
I had no idea QC was seeded like that what a strange scheme. Loving the new Quake content from you lately ddk! Been watching old vods of you always appreciated your insight into the game
QC lan events from what i know doesn't seed through any other system than online duel results or duel rating. FFA was however widely used in q1,q2,q3 in the early days to determine seeds as online tournaments were non existent, and a lot of players coming from russia,china, korea etc were more or less unknown at the time despite being extremely good players.
Been playing a lot of Reflex Arena lately, and whether its QL or Reflex or CPMA replays I always question the strategic advice because it feels like things just happen way too fast to put into place any sort of strategy or positioning apart from what I fall into intuitively when I play ('feeling' a spot is a bad spot to be in, rather than 'realizing' it). Maybe its just a part of being new to duels and the genre (>100 hours)
i feel like another copy paste quake game would fail, i think quake mechanics, but with overwatch type gameplay could succeed, less gore, monster type stuff, maybe scifi themed
Quake Live duel is broken since it was never modernized for modern day aim levels. Hitboxes should be smaller and weapons rebalanced. The sound system is broken and ammo management is non-existent because of how the ammo system works (you always have all the ammo you need).
Yo Daniel, What should I do if I lost my competitiveness in my main game, Ive hit Immortal 3 in val 460rr and Im close to Radiant what was my goal and Ive just stopped playing and its bugging me.
Is quake playable in EU and safe to play? Or any games like it in terms of not team based,high skill ceiling/aim heavy game? I’m 21 but never heard much about quake and this seems like the perfect game for me.
Hard to say, clawz wasn't really playing the same level of competition I think. With that said, I'd probably choose him, only because I felt like strenx sacrificed his dodging too much to hit more. That's how I remember it, I'm not sure how accurate my memory is on this, though
The hitbox extends a couple of units above the players head, you also have to factor in lag compensation. It's a fairly "standard" rail to hit if you have grinded aero for a good number of years.

Your confusing the model as being the target.. it's a visual indicator while in "code" it's a fairly wide and tall cylinder that encompasses the model and it's animations.. which allows for shots like this. This isn't exclusive to quake live, q2,q3 and q1 were worse when it came to things like this as they were axially aligned bounding boxes (i.e they were large and did not rotate).. Quake Champions can border on sillyness considering lg and rail are cylinders and not infinitely thin tracelines and are being collision tested against several fairly large oblongs (stretched spheres) aligned with the skeleton of the players model which can produce a even more wonkier overall hitbox (which is why people are running around with 50-70% lg like it's nothing... which quite frankly is not a normal thing in QL whatsoever as it's generally harder to hit in). It works the way it works.. saying "it shouldn't" is a completely pointless argument.. it would be like saying the ball shouldn't roll in basketball because it bounces... it's a fucking ball.
