Qualities of a teacher

We are joined by Alan Maley for an interactive discussion on his poem 'Some desirable teacher qualities'. The poem is full of wonderful adjectives and flows rythmically over three stanzas.
What adjectives describe you as a teacher?
Alan Maley has been involved in language education for over 60 years. He worked for the British Council from 1962-1988, as English Language Officer in Yugoslavia, Ghana, Italy, France and China, and as Director S. India, Madras. He was Director of The Bell Educational Trust, Cambridge from 1988-93, then Senior Fellow at the National University, Singapore from 1993-1998, and Dean of the Institute for English Language Education, Assumption University, Bangkok, 1999-2004. He has published over 50 books and numerous articles. His main interests are in creative methodology, teacher education and ecological approaches to language learning as an agent of change. He is now actively retired.
