Cork, an amazing place to live. The city itself offers a lot. You can live an urban lifestyle and 30 minutes away you can be out by the coast. Cork, not just a great place to live a life, a great place to call home. www.connectingcork.ie
It is a fun and vibrant city, but it seems like there is a big discrepancy between what Cork really offers and what certain groups of people might imagine it to be. Cork is at the moment a city where it's impossible to find a place to live (not difficult, but impossible), prices are soaring, public services such as public transport and health are very bad if not desperate. The quality of water has gone worse in the last 4 months and no one seems to be overly concerned with it. The infrastructure is far from what the city needs, from parking spaces to sports facilities. Many normal daily things in Cork are becoming an issue. I hope there will be a vision and the leadership in the future for Cork and Ireland because the boosting economy will simply not resolve different social issues. It takes politics and will to do that.
Quality of Life and Cork ... haha good one Housing? Infrastructure? Non-Shaman Healthcare? But hey at least there is the local brewery and some Company has a green garden in case their employees have no money for food anymore
Just don't expect to use a public toilet in city center because this city of close to a quarter of a million population doesn't have one ! Also the only public city center green space is about the size of a suburban garden in more advanced cities that focus on peoples' real needs (other than booze).
They used to have public toilets in the city centre but they fell victim to vandals who have to be ranked as the worst I have ever seen in my worldly travels. Public phone boxes suffered the same fate, but luckily along came the mobile phone and saved the day.
Cork is filthy. Derelict buildings around town is a disgrace. Other buildings badly need painting. Besides that, health care is awful and one never sees police day or night. Cork could be great with a good Council. Never had one though.
