I first discovered Angelina through the other Cry Me A River so it has great sentimental value to me, however I love Bond music. So I love this one as well. They are just so different you can love them both just like you love two different songs.

Great Reaction and Analysis A-Aron... what is truly amazing is that she can sing a song so incredibly wonderfully and beautifully in different styles and such quality depending on the venue and situation. We all always need to keep in mind and in perspective that she is 12 years old, and demands the caliber of these musicians in both versions.

"THE STAFF BAND OF THE NORWEGIAN ARMED FORCES." celebrated 200 years. They decided to record a CD and asked Angelina, age 11, to sing. What an honor for a little girl! When the CD was released, a concert was held and that's where this was filmed. I think Angelina was 12 here. Filmed with mobile phone as no professional cameras were allowed. Among the spectators were parts of the Norwegian government and others. The CD is called "It's magic" and is available on Spotify, iTunes and Amazon. / If I am wrong on any point, I welcome corrections from you "angels".

Angelina absolutely HAS to sing the next Bond song! This is an amazing tour de force by both her and the band.

Great fun watching the clarinet player, far left on the video, when Angelina begins to sing. His expression is priceless. I do love both versions of "Cry Me a River" but give preference to the 11 year old version, since if fits so well when I am feeling melancholy.

Just consider - only ten days after this Angelina opened the show at the O2 arena in London with fly me to the Moon - there her style was to fit with a full symphony orchestra - she even had the same outfits and the rehearsal outfit was the same as in Norway. One very busy young lady, but always totally in control...

I’m old enough to remember the 1950’s hit version of Cry Me a River by Julie London. I’ve always loved that song, and I never thought there could be another version to compare to Julie’s sultry, earthy vocals. But when I heard 11 year old AJ at that jazz concert crooning this song, I loved it. But then I was blown away by this very different take by 12 year old AJ with the militaristic cadence-a style I never would have imagined for this. But there are moments in this version where the depth in her voice is just hard to believe, even for Angelina.

A wonderful collaboration with the Band. There are a lot of rehearsals videos from the winter before. You can see how deep she's evolved in the arrangement and the Band loves her very much. She highlights the 200y anniversary for the Band very much and made them famous. The CD stands a long time in the top 100 best selling jazz album

Hi A Aron, This Norway military band is supposed to be the best world wide. They have a policy that nobody can just call them and ask them to play for an album they are working on. like if Elvis or Elton john or anybody. They said if they want to play for a band or a singer they will call you cuz they know all the talent out there. Well They called Angelina twice now to make an album. They also threw Angelina a surprise 12th birthday party at the military complex in Norway. They played happy birthday to her.

I love both versions, but to me Angelina is more able to ad lib with a small band that can follow her wherever she goes. It's the same with just a guitar or piano, but with 45 musicians reading sheet music, she has to stick to the rehearsed music. So I prefer the "free" style of the 11 yo version, where less is better, Imo.

Hi Aaron. This entire concert was outstanding. You owe it to yourself to listen to her sing "Mr. Lonely" (Angelina sings it as "Miss Lonely"). It's a cover of Bobby Vinton's song from the 1960's. Have a tissue handy. I much prefer Angelina's version to the original. Regards.

Aron. Listen. In every music or production line Angelina Jordan has a major part in getting whatever done. She sings in the way she wants. Writers on sites put her singing line on paper and they adjust to how she would like to sing. They follow her.

Here she pays respect to the beautiful rendition that Julie London did back in the 50's. Both are true 'Jazz' specialists but Angelina's vocal ability to command such perfection in the low register portions of the song are just mesmerizing and unmatched by any other 'Jazz' singer with the exception of her mentor, the great Billie Holiday.

One of my favorite Albums from Angelina, play it often...simply great start to finish. Still ranked up there in the top 100 Jazz albums. Absolutely worth buying this album, especially if you like Jazz or are a Jazz musician, right Aron...hint hint. Boris Palenovski, who recorded this has this concert on his channel...every bit as good as this one.

Angelina was 12 years old at this release concert on June 16, 2018 at Akershus Fortress in Oslo, but she developed the arrangement together with the orchestra and arranger/producer Bjørn Morten Kjærnes in November 2017 - only about five months after the Prøysenfestival performance on July 21, 2017 and still 11yo. You've recognized it quite correctly - this gifted child is already able to cope with any kind of accompaniment at this age, she can create a precisely coordinated rendition based on the special skills of her musicians - the difference here is particularly striking and I recommend watching both performances of the Reaktors one after the other or, even better, in a double reaction wherever possible. A drive that will play a CD on your computer is like 30 bucks tops. I think it's worth it just to have the ability to accept CD gifts from your fans. I have that CD and it's great.

The whole album It's Magic is on streaming services. I believe that I have seen RU-vid releases, which cover the album. This is one of the songs on it, and the audio is much better. Most of the songs from this concert were promoting that album. I listen to it on Spotify regularly.

Great reaction Aaron. There are some nice bts videos of Angelina working with this conductor and this Great band getting some rubatto sections touched up. These performances are no accident. This concert and the CD was an invitation to Angelina by the band to collaborate on the occasion of their 200th anniversary. There is even a video of them playing Happy Birthday to AJ in a surprise party for her on her Grandma's channel. They also performed two of Angelina's first original songs: Oslo and What Is Life.❤

Aron, I thinK I remember that one of your friend techie guys enhanced her vocals because she was getting drowned out by the band in several places. You might want to look for those. The sound has had a major enhancement and improvement over the audio I've been struggling to hear for years. It's possible to hear all the nuances and stylings Angelina pours into her live concert. Imagine having so much full orchestra / big band experience at her age here! Kudos to everyone involved, including post production. ❤ Edited to add: Aha! Every Time We Say Goodbye doesn't play, a notice pops up saying the video is private. That is one of my top 10 favorite performances by Angelina. I sure hope this is just a delay or error.😢

From a very young age she sang with this orchestra - Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces - they even recorded a CD It's Magic in 2018. Among many things she did with them. Her versions of Cry Me A River sound so different between one another, but I love both interpretations! As you said Aaron, when I first heard this version, I too was thinking James Bond style of music. That's why many of us feel she would be the perfect choice for her to sing a future Bond song. By the way, at the beginning when Angelina started to sing, did you notice the clarinet player that was to the left of her and see his expression? It was kind of funny! No need to choose between the versions, just love them both!

There are videos of their rehearsals where they worked out all the stuff you are talking about. By the way, the Album they made together, “It’s Magic” is still in and out of the iTunes top 100 jazz albums chart. This is the best concert with Angelina Jordan, I think it was when she was 12 just after the Quincy Jones 85th birthday celebration or when she was 13 the summer before she was on AGT the Champions. The relaxed and slightly more meditative style, if you may call it.For that one I can really close my eyes and get into it. The concert at 11 was a masterpiece of jazz feeling ! on this one the big band play great ... but for me, it lacks a bit of swing, a bit too square, too heavy (just compare with the big band on Qincy Jones anniversary in London) ... 🙂 AJ was perfect on the 2 versions (as usual)

Another song from "It's Magic" that Angelina recorded with Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps is "Cheek to Cheek". I'm sure you will enjoy this rehearsal/recording clip, especially when Angelina mispronounces "gambler" and at the end corrects herself, laughing about it. It's a wonderful look into the work she put into her productions, even as a child. And, the stark difference between her spoken voice and her singing voice is quite apparent.
