Yea we are still working on the tail end. This time the tail-plane fairings. Fairly typical techniques used here, however I did cut the tailplane drastically to correct the outline
I can't tell if you are building an airplane, or icing a cake - lol. (kidding) You are making steady progress, and it looks better with every video! Thanks for sharing it!
That Cowl is looking superb Danny, not sure if you mentioned this before, but what type of Power plant are you installing in the Chippy ? Glow, Petrol, or Electric ? looking forward to the next video cheers Paul
Hi Thank you. The power will be provided by an electric motor, Turnigy 6364 and 10S 5000mAh LiPo. Radio is Jeti, and the ESC a Jeti Spin 75. I had considered a Laser 180 but I am more familiar with electric propulsion.
Hi Danny, I was wondering if you could explain why you are using heavy P38 at the rear of your plane, rather than micro balloons and epoxy, with weight being so,so important? Thanks for the updates, love the series.
Hi yeah sure, and glad you are enjoying it. Must say i am amazed that people have followed the series, its a bit of a slog. Really good question, and I probably seem hypocritical using bondo/p-38 after my comments on saving weight in the tail. I don't like epoxy and micro balloons as i have never found a fast setting epoxy that sands well. A better option than micro balloons is a product called Micro Light powder mixed with epoxy, much lighter than microballoons. Both give me the same problem of needing a sandable, fast setting epoxy. A friend is using Deluxe Materials 5 minute epoxy, and i need to try some. The P 38 is not as heavy as people think, and is soooo easy to sand, and its very quick drying. Perfect for this application. So agreed I shouldnt be using it, but its the best for this application. (Until I find a fast drying sandable epoxy that is). I did sand at least half back off again to get the shape.
Hi Brad, they are very common, artists use them, often called painting or palette knives. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. lovely flexible blades, great for applying filler, or cake icing as one viewer, tongue-in-cheek, suggested I was doing.
