I have been using the 23L for almost a year: every day, with any weather, filling it with any type of stuff, from packing cubes (they fit PERFECTLY, one medium and one small) to bottles of water, to literally every EDC you can imagine. It literally looks NEW. I couldn’t reccomend more this version as a underseat bag and urban EDC bag, it ticks all the boxes for the price of a Peak Design packing cube.

Same here, i bought the 23 liter in Berlin in September. In January my wife bought the 32 liter in Singapore and we use them as our smal item on planes. However my wife think the 32 liter is a bit large for mostly carying her laptop, so she bought the 23 liter a few weeks ago, so now i use the 32 liter as my lugage bag and i have my PC and other electonics and toiletries in the 23 litrer. I just love them. We now have 6 decathlon backpacks in the houshold.

I have both 32L and 23L units and just love them. What I like especially is the number of pockets they have, especially the internal ones. I use the 32L as a carry on and the 23L as my daily bag when I hike or walk around a city. The 32L fits all my carry on stuff for a week or more really well. The 23L I put flat (or packed) inside the checked in luggage and then take it out when I arrive at destination. Two of the best purchases of my life.

I literally spent 20 minutes at Decathlon doing this exact side by side comparison! I ended up getting the 23L because I wanted an EDC bad that I can also use as a personal item. And here in Singapore at least, the bigger bag doesn't have the secret side pocket under the water bottle pocket.

tell you more, the 23L version but in blue colour now also doesn't have the secret pocket, but bottle pockets big enough to fit 0.8 qeuchua termo bottle, while mine black 23l can't fit it. I like your review. I had one thought though - I really think that you would be able to pack all the things you had there to the smaller version! You haven't use that packing cube to the fullest - I mean: packing cube do its job when you use its full capacity and compress your clothes with it, if you leave space in it you can as well not use packing cube ;) also: if not used with laptop you can add some clothes in that compartment and there are still water bottle compartments - it is visible that there still is free space in that backpack 🙃 I have some experience with travels with only personal item and my current backpack is smaller - the type that is narrower on top. It was bought as everyday city bag, but ended as persona item bag :D and I can pack there much more than you showed here ;)

Decathlon is a French company so that makes sense. Quechua bags are way more common in Europe, I don't see them very often in the US but they're starting to catch on. Plus shipping to the US is free so it's easier to get them here.

Cabin Zero has never send me a bag, but I wouldn't mind getting a Tech 28 to test out! Cabin Zero is much better quality than Quechua but still very reasonably priced for the quality. Quechuas are decent for their low cost, but not a bag I would expect to stand up to a life-time of travel.

After extensive research I have purchased the 23L version last summer and I have been flying with it as a personal item with no questions asked for the past 14 months (I believe it's really trolleys or the larger "hiking" backpacks that get the attention). My only complaint (and the reason I keep checking backpack reviews) is that if the bag is just a bit heavy (8kg) my neck starts hurting after carrying it even just for 30-45 mins. Why is that? And what to do? :(
@LiviaBerenguel
@LiviaBerenguel 11 месяцев назад
Hey! I can’t exactly tell you why that is, but maybe you can add extra sternum or hip straps (since this one has just one sternum strap). This will help distribute the weight through your axial bones, helping to not overstress the neck!
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 11 месяцев назад
I didn't go into carry comfort in this comparison but I talk about it a little more in my full review of the 32L. I have a similar experience with this pack where the straps sit a little crooked on my shoulders. I don't notice it when the pack is light, but it's more noticeable when the pack is full I feel it more. It could be this for you, uneven weight across the shoulder strap. Not much way to fix this except making sure you use the sternum strap and keeping the weight as close to your back as possible.
@baustelle2051
@baustelle2051 11 месяцев назад
@@LiviaBerenguel Thanks! I was considering adding "compression straps" to hold the weight closer to the back, so to speak. My sense is that while carrying my neck tries to "dive" to compensate for the pull, and that ends up in overstraining it
@baustelle2051
@baustelle2051 11 месяцев назад

I was very indecisive about whether to replace it with the 23 liter version, which only has 3 pieces of the bag with the cable pass-through compartment in the 23 liter version. It makes more sense because of the 32 liter capacity, but it was a little upset that there were shortcomings compared to the old version. therefore I am thinking of replacing it with the 23 liter one.
