I feel like he just couldn't remember that lyric. In other later performances he sang "to our new home we'll away" and I have to wonder if Brian didn't go "look, if you can't remember that line, sing it this way" lol

One of my top 5 from Queen....I'd not heard this version before. Good God, they were still young here! I'd love to know some of what they were thinking during this show......must've been awesome for the guys!!
@@brasschick4214 All four members have been performing together for five years at this point, so I wouldn't call it early in their career. My guess is that they were a little unrehearsed, being only the fourth performance of the song. As you mentioned, nerves also played a part, considering they were playing in front of their largest audience by that point.

I remember them doing this song, and about 5 others, in their "acoustic set" at Madison Sq. Garden in NYC. Same year and also '77. What would have made it perfect, would have been if Deacon played a 4/4 upright. Still, it was a great "set within a set".

I recently saw an interview in which Freddie, commenting on Brian's compositions, stated with his usual candor, "He writes the kind of songs I don't like!" (To which I would have said, "Well then, darling Freddie, *you should have let BRIAN sing them!"* )

I think when you work together as a band , you have to put up with things you don't like. Brian and Roger liked hard rock more and so have continously dissed the hot space album, while John liked funk whereas Freddie was compliant with doing many different kinda things

Brian always jokes before performing ‘39 live, he jokes about “ bringing a philharmonic but they didn’t turn up “( orchestra ) as in night at the opera joke. Like In earls court 1977 he says before playing “ this has nothing to do with the next song called ‘39. “ if you don’t get it than he’s just joking around about bringing a whole orchestra to the concert xd
