The Prophets Song from Night at the Opera album is phenomenal. My favorite Queen song. Innuendo is another great one. Steve Howe of Yes adds some nice acoustic and flamingo guitar work on this track.

Innuendo is so fantastic, and "I'm going slightly mad" and "the show must go on" from that same album are stellar. of course can't really go wrong with Night at the Opera. Prophet's Song is a great idea.

Death on two legs is an underrated gym with a little bit of edge to it. Seaside rendezvous and lazing on a Sunday afternoon are short and whimsical, similar to bicycle race, but I love them both. But as a previous commentor said, “ my melancholy blues” is a beautiful song that not many people seem to know.

One of my favorite albums is Night At The Opera. One of my favorite deep cuts from this album is Death On Two Legs, Freddie's "dissatisfaction" with the band's manager. A good rocker and the lyrics make you laugh. Highly recommended.

Awesome reaction! I really enjoy your analysis! Queen's deep cuts are often better then their hits. Queen made the most complex music out of the big classical rock bands, they could be very progressive, but they did every style and genre of music. For a jazz song from Queen check out My Melancholy Blues. For another interesting song with different sections a great one is The Millionaire Waltz. Basically all of Queen's 70's album are extremely high quality music. Bicycle Race is basically a song that says I want to do my own thing.

There are tons of "album tracks by Queen that are worth checking out. To give you an example of their range, check out "Good Company," which has a Vaudvile sound, or "Dragon Attack," which has a bass line for which you will just die! Another great one is "Rock It (Prime Jive),." probably my favourite album track by Queen. And of course, "The Prophet Song" is another progressive rock masterpiece that stands up well to Bohemian Rhapsody.

You two are great and I love your reactions every time I drop in for a visit, but you have not lived the proper musical life until you have heard and reacted to EVERY SONG from the first three Queen albums - Queen I, Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack. You can do a song at a time, a side at a time, an album at a time, or mix and match any which way you like, but you will have your eyes and ears opened like you will not believe! I anticipate enjoying watching you on your journey, no matter how long it takes! There is so much more to this band than you can imagine!

There are so many great Queen songs, in various genres. For hard rock check out Brighton Rock from 1974's Sheer Heart Attach album. For Prog, I suggest a marathon from 1974's Queen II, Ogre Battle/Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke/Nevermore/March of the Black Queen/Funny How Love Is; you won't be disappointed!

The best Queen is the Queen you've not yet heard. As a guitarist Nick, you should ck out the early albums. Queen II or Sheer Heart Attack. On the Sheer Heart Attack album, Metallica covered the tune Stone Cold Crazy....a short tune, but a straight out rocker. Check out the guitar work on the first track "Brighton Rock".

I'm a big fan of Queen II. Originally released on vinyl with a white side and a black side. If you'd like to go on a wild ride, listen to White Queen (As It Began) back to back with The March of the Black Queen (which goes immediately into Funny How Love Is). Sheer Heart Attack is just a fantastic, eclectic fireball of fun. Hit Brighton Rock (used brilliantly in the film Baby Driver) at the very least and be blown away by Brian's guitar work. I also really love She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes) for some reason that I can't explain. Maybe it's Brian's vocals and Freddie's very interesting harmonies...I don't know. And -- yes, yes, yes to all the folks asking for The Prophet Song from Night at the Opera. Also from that album I love '39 and not just because I'm a science fiction fanatic and the song is a sad SF tale based in Einstein's general theory of relativity, it's just a darn good song. I could go on but I'll stop here. Love you guys!

I agree to laurentico and Douglas 100 %. In addition I want to mention: "All dead, all dead" or "My melancholy blues" from "News of the world". "Keep yourself alive" from Queen I. The best way I can think of to describe Queen's catalog is diverse. Diversity within a single song. Diversity within a single album. The first 5 or so albums especially. Rarely are things repeated. Lyrically or musically. They have covered many genre's of music. Heck! Queen is a genre of music all on their own. Try My Melancholy Blues for something with a smoky jazz feel. And then prepare for a most amazing rabbit hole. Don't even get me started on the live stuff... Oh my.... Down down we go. Deeper and deeper... enjoy!

@NicknLex You can do the entire Queen II album in 6 videos as several songs run together ...... #1 Procession/Father to Son/White Queen ...... #2 Some Day, One Day/Loser in the End ..... end of Side White ....... #3 Ogre Battle ........ #4 The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke/Nevermore ...... #5 The March of the Black Queen/Funny How Love Is ...... and finally #6 The Seven Seas of Rye ..... end of Side Black ...... which was the only song from the album to get any airplay. This album did modestly when released but over the years has become lionized by the fanbase. Lots of imaginative work here from all, but it is (hint hint, Nick) Brians guitar work that really shines throughout the whole album. I apologize in advance for not being a subscriber, but the same can be said for any other reaction channel I get in my feed. I do think though, that you guys are terrific couple and I really hope you consider this run. I've put the suggestion (same way) on another channel so, I guess it'll be a case of who gets to it first.

My "Queen journey" started in 1974 with Seven seas of rhye, Killer Queen and Now I'm here. End of 75 I was blown away by Bohemian Rhapsody, this great song cannot be killed by radio .... and I still like singing along when I'm by myself ... sounds terrible, but is so much fun. Night at the opera has so many special effects, but Queen were proud to print "No synthesisers!" on it. The following album had Tie your mother down with one of my alltime lyric lines "Take your little brother swimming with a brick, that's alright" .... in my head there was the little brother in the bathtub being put underwater by a brick LOL, I think they tried to say something else. This song is as much fun as bicycle race is. Actually Jazz was the first Queen LP that I bought, because the older ones I could put on cassette because friends had them and money was short to buy all the albums I wanted to own, so parallel to my LP collection I build a cassette collection, all 90min, 300 total with each 2 LPs recorded. Lots of work, lots of fun. Queen Live Killers is a great live album with impressive crowd singing Love of my life (next action is to check out if 250000 Brazilians sing better than 10000 Englishmen 🙂 Now I'm here is another great sing-along-song, easy job for Freddy to make them sing. I also like many of the love songs, that Freddy wrote, for example You take my breath away. When Queen "went disco" with Another one bites the dust and Under Pressure, they lost me ... also with the soundtrack to Flash Gordon ... that's why I lost interest to got and see them live ..... too bad ... for me 😞
@RandyHall324

Favorite deep cut from the early years is March of the Black Queen, from their 2nd album. Something of a precursor to Bohemian Rhapsody insofar as it has a number of really interesting transitions. Killer Queen is another worth checking out if you're not already familiar with it. And for a great change of pace, try '39, which is almost "folky" once you get past a pretty trippy intro. Love of my Life is a gorgeous ballad, with a classical feel - they're a lot more musically diverse than many would imagine!

Hey guys, although they came out with some great songs in the late '70's & '80's IMO their first five albums were their most creative. I got into them in '75 with "A Night at the Opera" off of which came "Bohemian Rhapsody" which as we know launched them into rock stardom. Recommend you go back to their self titled debut album & progress from there. Check out the opening track & their first hit "Keep yourself alive", also from the same album "Liar" , "Great King rat" & "My Fairy King". Their next album "Queen 2" was very adventurous & featured a lot of multi tracked vocals which they later perfected on "Bohemian Rhapsody" .The musicianship from this era & in particular Freddie's vocals and Brian's virtuosity & experimentation is simply stunning! Cheers

It's not literal. It's a metaphor of personal, & societal non conformity. All four members have college degrees. Brian May ( guitar. PHD in Astrophysics ) Roger Taylor ( drums. Biology degree ) John Deacon ( Bass. a degree in electronics / engineering ) Freddy Mercury ( lead. degree in art / graphic design ) Some songs are straight forward. Many are layered. Early Queen is Prog rock / heavy rock. with elements of fantasy, & classical orchestral accents.

It's the first Queen song I ever listened to and Jazz is the first album I got. I was a kid. Let me recommend a few more from Jazz: - Mustapha, the opener, by Freddie. You will go WTF. I always loved it. - If you can't beat them, a rocker by John Deacon with great guitar work - More of that jazz, by Roger Taylor, he does the vocals and IMO it's his best vocals ever. Hard to tell it's Queen if you're not familiar with his voice.

Hi Nicknlex, great reaction, as mentioned below you need to listen to The Prophets Song a prog masterpiece that does not get much airplay!

Hi guys! You two are so in love, it really shows. Queen had some great love songs and I think you will love one called Bijou from the Innuendo album and a live version of Love of my life from the Queen Live Killers album. Love you Nick&Lex! and yes don't forget Turn of the Century.

Somebody to love live in Montreal 1981, an amazing live performance of Freddie's favourite song.

Queen was the prototype for bands like The Struts today. Theatrical and performance oriented. Arenafodder. An evolution of Stones. And now I know it is time to recommend a more heady and headphony masterpiece called The Prophet's Song. And now I know that you can hear me, the earth will shake. (Pardon these intrusions by lines from the song.)
