Freddie was a genius, but so was the other guys in Queen. They where so versatile. If you want to get this awe feeling check out their Live Aid performance ... brilliant. Happy new year to you -:)
FYI Brian May (On Guitar) is also an accomplished and published Astrophysicist and was honoured with a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by the Queen in 2005..
@@RUARI-mi1yt The guitar is the famous red special, Brian May built his guitar with his father because he couldn’t afford a new electric guitar. It took him two years and he built one that had everything he wanted in an instrument. He still plays it and that is one of the many secret weapons in their library of music. The band was so insanely talented it blows your mind. Welcome to Queen and enjoy the ride!
Welcome to the Queen ride. For safety, keep arms and hands in vehicle at all times. (P.S. The very beginning was Freddie harmonizing with himself. You'll never hear that part live because it's recordings of Freddie only).
Happy birthday!! Freddie was a freakin' genius!! The recording of “Bohemian Rhapsody” took three weeks and featured 180 overdubs of vocals and instruments. Since the studios of the time only offered 24-track analogue tape, it was necessary for the three to overdub themselves many times and "bounce" these down to successive sub-mixes. In the end, eighth-generation tapes were used. May recalled placing a tape in front of the light and being able to see through it, as the tape had been used so many times.

I was born one week after Freddie Mercury in 1946 and first heard Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975 when it was released. Today it is still as fresh as the day I first heard it. Rest in peace Freddie. It is thought that the man he killed in the song is his previous self when he came out as being gay to his mother.
@@abovetheinfluence9361 hey bro, just discovered your channel (and subscribed) I like your take on the songs you react to, and also the variety of songs. Could you please react to "WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL" by Alison Krauss...the most elegant voice I've ever heard.
I'm sorry but Freddie also made a lot of high notes in falsetto, including a Bb5 too, but softer, listen to the mix of Bohemian Rhapsody with all his tracks.
@@CookieFXTM12 Yeah im sorry I shouldve mentioned freddie harmonizing with rog. Though I did listen to the mix a lot of times and I cant find Freddie doing a Bb5.
A lady I know passed before COVID and she asked for Queen's Don't stop me now to be played at the end of her funeral. We were all dancing in our chairs. It was so her.
If people aren't mentioning Queen in the top 10 all time rock bands they're just uneducated. This was released on Halloween, 1975. I was almost 16, young n dumb. My friends and I honestly thought it dumb, because of the operatic part. We were all about Zeppelin, Floyd, AC/DC, The Who etc. etc..This just couldn't BE real rock to us at the time. Like I said "young and dumb" because it's obviously one of the all-time Rock greats. Great reaction and Happy Birthday!
Im with you on this. Same age but i loved Queen from the beginning and my friends were like you, they didnt get it. We went to see them at MSG during the Day at the races tour like a year later and they were hooked!
One of the most gorgeous tunes ever and Freddie's amazing voice. The perfect Harmonies. The awesome instrumentations and players. The creativity! The daring! What's not to like :-D A unique experience.
The song is about Freddie telling his Mom and the world that he is gay. He killed the man everyone thought he was, to tell his truth. It’s a rock opera. That is why the different genres with highs and lows. Freddie was a genius. Brian May on lead guitar has a PhD in Astrophysics. They are legendary.
My dad introduced me to this song when I was like 6 or 7 years old. We would just sit outside in the car and listen to music and just talk while my mom would be making dinner or whatever. My dad introduced me to a lot of the rock music I listen to today and Queen is just one of many.
Great reaction! Check out The Prophet Song - Queen ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HzdjMLKKdgk.html, My Fairy king - Queen ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VeVjEg4znQk.html. If you enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody you will likely enjoy these songs. Queen is at the top echelon of rock, they are second best selling band of all time behind The Beatles. They just weren't as popular in America specifically as some other bands. They are best selling band of time in Europe. Freddie Mercury is often chosen as the best vocalist, Brian May is always chosen as one of the best guitarist. Roger Taylor is one of the best singing drummers and John Deacon is often chosen as one of the top 10 bass players.
This song combined choral music (like gospel), opera, rock, blues, and broadway musicals in one performance. That is very hard to do and especially this well.
If you want to know more about this song, check out the mini doc Inside The Rhapsody, it is in 3 parts. 1) Brian May (lead guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums) talk about how it came about and the reaction to it. 2) Roger talks about making the video, which was groundbreaking in it's day. 3) Brian walks you through the master tape and how the tracks were laid down. It's fascinating stuff.
Or not? I do not subscribe, in most cases of knowing "the meaning" of the song. The song is a gift in my opinion and should be "used" at your own discretion. *I say this because I have had such deep meaningful songs ruined for me in the past with their "meaning". :(
Freddy worked on his voice, he had a 3 octave range. You know how to reach success? When preparation meets opportunity. When opportunity does hit you better be ready, grab it and don’t let it go.
The body of the lyrics was something Freddy had been working on since his youth... it started out as a western movie set type thing in an opera style and evolved into this. :)
I was a kid, sitting on my Aunt's bed in my grandparents house, when I first heard this. I think it was 1984, and we would rock out to them. Great times
Happy birthday and really enjoy your reactions If Beethoven did rock, just love that line you said 😎 Queen are considered one of the all time bands in history, sadly Freddie Mercury passed away much to soon from us. just a few of their more popular songs to consider by queen We are the champions Another one bites the dust We will rock you Fat bottomed girls Wishing you and your family a safe and healthy 2021
Hi mate greetings from Melbourne Australia - I am glad to see you are doing reaction videos again - you have a great appreciation of music - keep up the good work - Queen are one of the greatest bands of all time but in their day they were hated by the critics but we the public always loved them - fun fact Queen are the only band in history that all members of the band wrote a number 1 chat topping song - not even the beatles achieved that -amazing band they were,

when i first heard this song it was 1976 i was 16 years old and i was in a pool room / snack bar , pin ball machines etc and this played on a Juke Box and yes the sound was just as great back then , Queen became my favorite band from that point on. i am 60 years old today and this song remains my fav queen song. And as for gospel sounding song by Queen i recommend "Somebody to Love" but do the audio version (studio) oh and happy birthday !
You mentioned Beethoven... if you want to SEE such a performance by Freddie check out White Queen live at the Odeon in 1975. I compare it to more Mozart but 6 of one half dozen of another. But truly a rock concert audience is watching a classical pianist perform and we're DIGGIN' IT !!! Where was I 1st time hearing/seeing this video??? My mom's basement (rec room) as an adolescent watching this new show called MTV .... and I didn't know if I was afraid of Freddie or enchanted by him (when he's big on the screen alternating between him and Roger)... definitely mesmerized!
I would be so honored to have you do a reaction to Queen's "Don't Stop Me NOW!!" I would like this song (with just a few lyric changes) played as i leave this world... from a 67 yr old granny, not in the best of health, who has LOVED her life and been so blessed by God. Music is one of his many gifts to the world and it's wonderful to hear reactions because someone who loves it also is 'experiencing' it with me. I've watched lots of reactors, many good, but you're the one I especially enjoy. You have a great appreciation of music and there's something very kind about you that comes out over the 'tube'. You also keep your comments visual or brief until the end of the song. Superb and well done! Happy Birthday my friend and thank you for bringing us the best!
My all-time favorite band. This song came out the year I was born. I consider myself pretty eclectic in my musical tastes, but Queen just is beyond genre and beyond compare. They're as untouchable as Michael Jackson.
Queen, ELO, Boston, and Kansas all came out close together! Some incredible music that has never been replicated since! Compare Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody to ELO's Mr. Blue Sky, Boston's ForePlay/Long Time, and Kansas' Carry On, Dust In The Wind, Point Of No Return and a bit later but Styx "Come Sail Away" - Just incredible music all the time on TOP 40 radio back in the day for nearly 2 decades and so great to find it all here on RU-vid!
Exactly lol, and 99% of the people on here just take part in the illusion. It's pretty weird if you think about it, everyone just pretending 😀 but whatever floats people's boats. The thing is, he said of course I've heard this song but I want to review it with the video, it would still be fine.
I was 17 years old, in my brother's bedroom with 4 huge speakers surrounding the room. We got real stoned, cranked it up, and lay in the middle of the room while the sound flew around, and through, us. I strongly suggest this!
You should listen to Queen Live in Montreal, Live Aid, 1981-Somebody to Love. Freddy Mercury and all the band members are British but you can't hear their accents when they sing. Robert May, the lead guitarist, still plays the electro guitar his father made when Robert May was growing up because he couldn't afford to buy one.
You HAVE to see their 20 minute session at the Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium in London. It was a worldwide concert on television to raise money for starving children. They are known as the best 20 minutes of any band in history.
Yeah, I was 3 when this dropped. Both my parents loved music, hoards of records on rotation almost constantly, or the radio on. My dad was even a band director. This sort of stuff was always playing in my house.
Welcome to a better world, because everyone needs some Freddie in their life. Best recs are Somebody to Love - live in Montreal 1981, Live Aid - whole set, Love of My Life - live in Rio, Who Wants to Live Forever - live at Wembley and Under Pressure with David Bowie.
Please check out “Dragon Attack” Live at Montreal or in “In The Lap of the Gods” Live at the Rainbow 1974 ❤️ Great reaction. The first time I heard Bohemian Rhapsody had to be on the radio when I was a kid. I heard Freddie’s voice-- and Queen stole my heart right about there.
The first time I remember hearing this, I think I was around seven or eight years old. This would have been around '83 or '84 or so. My older brothers were teaching me how to play poker and my oldest brother had the Queen Greatest Hits on cassette and was playing on the his little boom box. I definitely remember hearing this song. However, at that age, I remember my favorite songs from that cassette being Bicycle Race, Killer Queen, and We Will Rock You. Bohemian Rhapsody seemed almost too crazy, but of course, it grew on me.
How has it come to be you don’t know about Queen? I can’t believe you don’t know We will rock or We are the champions. Songs that will be forever in a sporting arena around the world. I am sure there are tons of suggestions for Queen albums, enjoy each of them. All band members write and all band members songs have hint number one on the charts. I don’t want to repeat things so I will say enjoy Queen.
Freddie was Indian and it lent a lot to their music! He loved Opera....& it shows! Some of the names in the operatic part are from childhood Indian stories. I love the arrangements in this piece! It's basically three songs in one...& the concert is suddenly over! lol. Love the Beethoven line! They had a hard time with the music industry over how long this song is! lol. A school dance! lol.
First time I heard this was at a birthday party at a skating rink I'm guessing about 1975 saw one of the prettiest girls ever skate a dance to this on roller skates and I was so infatuated with her that I bought the album at my local record store the next weekend. And no I didn't get the girl she was like 17 and I was 11 lol 😆.
I was driving to work at McDonalds in 1976, and I remember hearing this on the car radio....I was 16. As much as I like this tune, I had already bought the previous album Sheer Heart Attack, which to this day is my favorite Queen album as they rock a bit harder on that album. I caught this tour in Detroit at Cobo Hall that year. For the middle part, Queen would leave the stage and then come back as they could never replicate the "opera" part. A band called Thin Lizzy opened for them and had a hit "The Boys Are Back In Town" that summer. Great reaction! You are great!
Freddie Mercury liked opera and wanted to do a rock opera. Later in his life when he was ill and dying of AIDS he wrote the song Barcelona and sang it along side famous opera soprano Montserrat Caballe.
This is all Freddie multi tracked at the start. It’s a true rhapsody as it is a single piece with several genres sewn together. Ballad, rock, operetta, and balled to close.
I grew up with this song. I love seeing first-time reactions from younger people to this classic. Of all the comments made from all the Reaction Videos I’ve seen, the comment you made on this is probably the most accurate I have heard. You said “if Beethoven made rock music this would be it “. Nail. Head. Hit. Many thanks.
Must see from Queen: Love of My Life (Live from Montreal) Somebody to Love Killer Queen Crazy Little Thing Called Love I remember being 12 and and sneaking in my brothers room listening to his records. He had the Greatest Hits album from Queen and I was blown away. Love these videos. They remind me of when I first heard these songs and how amazing they are.
Lol.....Freddie sang all 4 parts of the intro and subsequent scenes, in the music video, while the other 3 band members lip-synced the parts.....according to many professional voice coaches, Freddie had one of the most unique voices(could sing in so many octaves) and could have been an opera singer!....💥🙂💥 Happy Birthday, my friend!...🥳🎂
Freddie-only in the intro... In the “operatic section” it is Freddie, Brian, and Roger (with Roger hitting the insanely high notes) Only John is lip-syncing the whole time, as he was not a singer in studio, and only in a limited fashion when live (with his mic turned very very low)
He literally started headbanging to the rock part BEFORE it happened lol. I can't tell if the people who believe it's his girlfriend first time hearing it are just gullible or in on the illusion 🤔
Hi. I am a new subscriber. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! You made a wonderful choice to listen to Bohemian Rhapsody. I know it's up for debate, but my daughter and I think this is the greatest rock song ever written, and the production is sublime. From what I understand, the song was written by Freddie when he was a teenager, and it's about coming out. Some say he was bi-sexual, others say he was gay, but either way, it was not an easy thing for him to deal with back then. I was a little kid when this song came out. I definitely remember hearing it on the radio in the car when my mom was out running errands. Queen's music catalogue is huge: Somebody to Love Killer Queen Don't Stop Me Now We Will Rock You Another One Bites the Dust We are the Champions Who Wants to Live Forever Crazy Little Thing Called Love Fat-Bottomed Girls Bicycle The Show Must Go On Radio Gaga You will find yourself going down a rabbit hole. After you've listened to a few, I suggest watching their full "Live Aid" concert performance. It's pretty special. Cheers!
Thank you so much for such wonderful recommendations, birthday wishes, subscribing and info! I think I’m going to do the Live Aid for my next Queen reaction... many are asking for it! 😊🙌🏾
This song isn't actually about murder (well in a way it is). It was a metaphore about doing drugs and aids. A few years later (around 1982) when Freddie caught HIV from a guy here in NYC during the aids pandemic and then passed away, this song ironically suited that as well. I tear up n cry everytime I watch Freddie on stage n thank God we have these videos at least. Another ironic thing is in the lyrics he says "So you think you can love me and leave me to die". Little did Freddie Mercury know that those lyrics would become his fate. The song was wrote in the 70s and Freddie had his fate sealed in the early 80s. Back then aids was new and scientists were scrambling to fight a cure or some medicine to keep you alive. If you contracted aids back then it was a death sentence. Over 250,000 New Yorkers alone died (including 4 friends of mine and my best friemd Tracey).. It came fast n furious like the corona virus did in 2020. People were taking up to 75 medications a day trying to stay alive turning into skeletong, bodies cover in lesions and most dying from pneumonia (complications due to a low immune systen/Aids). Today they have a shot or one pill a day like Biktarvy that keeps HIV victims alive allowing people to live full normal lives. This is why many weep when watching Freddie. He was a very shy and kind person who was handed a death sentence undeservingly and far too soon. ❤
Happy Birthday and New Year! 🎂🙌🎈 Love Queen. BoRhap is a masterpiece. They have an eclectic catalog of great songs. Somebody to Love, Play the Game, Innuendo, One Vision, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, etc.
