At the time of Live Aid I was serving in the British Royal Marine Commandos in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. We listened to it on the radio. We were surrounded by the full horror of the Famine, but when Queen came on the radio those poor soles who were there even reacted in a very positive way. I remember that a lot of us Royal Marine Commandos were crying watching some of the children dancing along, I'm teary eyed just remembering. I looked around at men I had fought alongside, who were tough, hardened Royal Marine Commandos who had fought a life and death war against Argentinian's in 82. By the end of Queen's set we were dancing with the children. It went along way to help build their trust in us. The famine is only one of many terrible memories I have from 34 years of active service, and 2 years hospitalisation. But when I remember the smiles on the children's faces, and their laughter at the terrible way we danced always reminds me that humanity will always find it's way through even the worst of times. I only watched it for the first time last year, my son put it on the TV. A lot of memories came back and a lot of tears. My amazing Wife took me to see Queen at Wembley, U.K., in 1986 two weeks after I got back from Ethiopia as a surprise. I saw Queen live 6 times in all, they were incredible live. And yes, I am an old fart.
@@TheSmittenman I was lucky, I married the right woman. My wife bought tickets to the concerts of bands we both enjoyed seeing, that's why I call her Boss. Music is something we have shared since we first met and started dating, we were both 15.
You don't have to be sorry for being emotional about Freddie and this performance he gave to everyone that day, its still know to this day as one of the most important moments in music history
Great reaction. Even though the movie indicated that he knew he had AIDS, it was just for the movie and he wasn’t diagnosed until almost 2 years later. As a Queen fan from the beginning, I grew up purchasing every album as they came out, I really enjoy seeing your generation discover and appreciate Queen.
@@rebekaluizebudlevskamusic You should watch two videos from one of my favorite channels History Buffs ru-vid.comvideos He takes a look at historical movies and compares them with the real history. What did they get wrong, What did they get right, What did they leave out. And tries to give you a more accurate version. He did a two part episode on Bohemian Rhapsody and goes thru the entirety of Queens history and a little more.
You made me cry, I've followed the band since 1974 seen them many times with and without fred, incredible talent. So good to see the young generation getting into this extraordinary band. Legends they will always because the music is brilliant and could they play live! I'm 62 my next gig will be 2022 at o2 London God willing!
Would that be the same God that created a world where kids get bone cancer?. The Same God that created a big that burrows behind kids eyes they eats its way out?. The same God that created a world where so many people suffer through no fault of their own?.
by the way - Freddie Mercury was singing at Live Aid against doctors orders, because of the vocal problems he had that time, but he didn't care and the rest is just the history, my dear! :)
This performance took place not long after Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS and against doctors orders to Freddie due to issues with his voice They performed anyways. Freddie Mercury said this concert was the most important concert Queen ever played and there was nothing going to keep them away. Rest in Peace Freddie you are so missed.
@@pleasantvalleypickerca7681 You are right about when he got aids. However after he was diagnosed the Dr's did advise him that he should stop touring and instead rest as much as possible.
Hello Rebeka. Thank you for sharing this. I remember watching it back in 1985. Been blown away by what I was watching. Queen for that 22 minutes. Actually ruled the world. Now it's nearly 40 years later. People are discovering it for the first time. I love watching yours & there reactions to this iconic performance. God bless Queen. God bless all Queen fan new & old.
Loved your reaction to this. Queen are truly one of the greatest bands of all time. Their live gigs were out of this world and I don't think anyone will ever have the crowd eating out of the palm of their hand like Freddy did!
there's not a thing wrong with being emotional Rebeka...you know I've asked myself many times what do I see when I see Freddie....a singer? performer? well I have an answer now...perfection...there will never be another like him. Have a good day
Hey good reaction, I was there in my capacity as a photographer mainly to get backstage/unguarded stuff, we had teams of motorcycle couriers waiting to Wisk off the rolls of film for developing, in my 60s now and retired from the business, great memories.
Thanks dear for your lovely Queen reaction! I'm a huge QUEEN fan so many years, I was in Rock in Rio 85 the 2 nights of Queen, near FREDDIE'S and my Life never was the same! Thanks again, I cried with you.... Kisses! 👑❤️
My sweet dear darling Graciela......I can't even imagine how you must feel watching the concerts on videos, knowing that YOU WERE THERE 👑👑👑 This is something that you will treasure your whole life 🌹🌹🌹Greetings from Greece to Brasil.....I suppose🇬🇷 🇧🇷
@@irinichotou470 thanks my dear! Yes I'm argentine who lives in Rio-Brazil since 79. And is true, watch Queen live is UNFORGETTABLE, a magic experience for all life! I'm so happy that the new generations are knowing and loving Queen and magnificent FREDDIE! Love my dear! 👑❤️
I think he already knew at the time. I mean, it's in Bohemian Rhapsody. "Too late, my time has come." "Send shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time." "I don't wanna die - " Full body ache is one of the symptoms. The lyrics can be interpreted in many ways, sure. But it could simply mean this.
@@rebekaluizebudlevskamusic If i find/build a time machine(on the to do list lol) i`ll pick you up and we`ll travel though time and go see every one of there concerts :):)
I loved your reaction. Dancing and lip-syncing through the whole thing and your emotions during Champions is lovely. A true fan. Freddie had nodules on his vocal chords since 1976 and had a throat infection at the time of this concert. His doctor told him he shouldn't perform but that didn't stop Freddie. There was no test for Aids in 1985 that was accurate so Freddie did not know he had it at this time. He was tested in April 1987 and that's when he found out. Queen were all four just killing it that day. I hope you watch Freddie and Brian come on later in the evening to do Is This The World We Created? They were asked to do the song by Bob Geldof. Great reaction!
Yeah, Freddie Mercury looked death right in the face and told him i still have work to do before you pull down the final curtain on my life. Freddie has staked his claim in this life, he is a true legend, his music will live on well after we are all dead.
@@ninagray4441 I never said that Freddie Mercury was dying while he performed at Live Aid, methinks you have interpreted what i meant in the wrong lite. I just wanted to get across how stunningly brave this man was in the face of death. I guess i will have explain myself better in the future. @@marclapuz5753 all those are great (I love all of those) but Queen was just different and ahead of its time -> this is without mentioning the genius of Freddie Mercury
And a year later in the summer of 1986, he gave one of the best performances of his life (over two nights) at Wembley on Queen's last stadium tour. One of the best gigs ever recorded !!
Die 80er war die schönste Zeit der Musik Geschichte und ich durfte dabei sein. Schön das heute noch junge Menschen das hören. Du bist die erste Person die bei so einem Auftritt emotional war. R. I. P. Freddie
Heartfelt reaction. 👍 Those tears you shed at the end, you're not alone. I'll at least come close to crying every time I hear Queen now - with sorrow at what is lost, and joy for what will remain with us forever. ✌
i watched all the reaction about queen and yours was the best one and i fell in love when u have run a tear much love for ya and react to somebody to love live
Yes, very natural reaction, going from Rebeka's sweet heart itself. It only proves, that Queen music and Freddie's talent and musician leadership touches our souls, hearts and minds...
best reaction i have seen to this. i remember watching this with my wife. live as it happened, the full 24 hour show arounf the world. What makes this reaction great, you heard freddie, and you felt freddie
Thankyou for all your queen comments . Today 15th September 2024 is the first time watching your RU-vid channel . I love Queen so much ❤️ especially Freddie , I’m mesmerised by him . ❤️❤️
Hi Rebeka just bumped into your channel a few minutes ago. Your reaction was sheer and sincere, I don't let my emotions go that easily but this time you made me cry. I've seen tons of reactions to Queen but this was the most genuine heartfelt I've ever watched. Freddie was one of a kind and there will be no one like him on this planet. A huge hug from Italy. Cheers!
I love that you loved it. I was 14 yrs old in the Summer of 1985. Live aid was a huge deal in those days. P.S. I really liked when you said, "My dad" used play Queen in the car. I can appreciate that.
I watched the entire Live Aid on TV......this was one, if not the greatest highlights of the entire event!!! Not taking away from all the other artists, but.............It's Freddie!!!
I remember as a 20yr old sitting in my parents empty house sat in front of the Tv for 12hrs straight watching Live Aid.......I distinctly remember Queen and Dire Straits. So great to see new generations appreciating this legendary event.
That was one of the nicest and heartfelt reactions I’ve seen on RU-vid Rebeka,we will never see another Freddie Mercury not in my lifetime anyway, thank you for being real.👍
Adorable reaction ... you’re in great hands with us Queenies! Sounds like you’ve already fallen into the Queen rabbit hole!! Btw, no place I’d rather be 😁. Definitely check out FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS live in Milton Keynes 1982. NOW I’M HERE live at Wembley 1986. GET DOWN MAKE LOVE live in Montreal 1981. ❤️❤️❤️
I've seen A LOT of reaction Videos of Queen Live Aid but yours is the best I've seen! You can see that you really feel and appreciate the music! And your tears at the end....Ugh ....Also had tears in my eyes! Thank you for this amazing reaction video of Queen
As a 54 year old man, NOTHING on RU-vid makes me more happy to see young people seeing this legend for the first time. Freddie brought together everyone. Every colour or creed to enjoy his music. To see you all carrying this on makes me cry. Thank you for your video.
LOL dancing again with ya.. ..thank you very much .. made a bad day into a great one.. hugs Freddy is not the only amazing person here.. you amaze me.. Rock ON!! and yea i did shed a tear or 100.. beautiful post .. just wow
NEVER apologise for being emotional!! I cried with you and I'm not ashamed to admit it! Great reaction! Doesn't matter that you'd seen it before, you're sheer enthusiasm was a joy to behold. Thank you!
It's great to see a devoted fan such as you for Queen & Freddie-and yes, it stinks that he's not still with us. But like you said, he lived every moment & lots of great music for all of us to enjoy
It actually makes me cry watching live aid cause we lost him ! But watching the holographic with Brian may breaks my 💖 heart there'll never be another like him ! Xxxxxxccccc
Just found your reaction tonite. Beautiful job young woman. Freddie and Queen, brilliant. Historic. Magnificent. And yes, so very sad. Thank you and take great care during these challenging times. Great work, genuine, smart, fun, elegant.
Very emotional and the sweetest reaction, Rebeka :) Very nice! I could recommend you to check Somebody to love (Live in Montreal 81) - Freddie sounds very powerful and strong. Another less known masterpiece - White Queen (Live at Hammersmith Odeon, 1975) :)
I saw Queen live at Wembley, the same stadium that live aid was played. It was part of the Magic tour and had Status Quo as the main backing group. I would have loved for you to have been there. The atmosphere was electric and at the end he came back on stage wearing a replica of the crown jewels, and finished off with the National Anthem. Watching them is incredible, but to be at one of their concerts is an experience that you remember for life.
Hermosa reaccion gracias Rebeka...Freddie fue un verdadero campeón que vivira por siempre entre quienes escuchamos su musica hasta el final de los tiempos...saludos desde Chile
The BEST reaction I've ever seen a "reactioner" give yet! Seeing so many people gathered together for the love of music and such a worthy cause kinda restores faith in humanity .And yes it was like "itchycoo park " for me too. I agree had he lived the music he would have continued to make is a loss for the world not to have ,I really believe that...Great reaction vid thanks for sharing it.
I just love the body movement reactions!!!!.....You really feel the music, that is rare in some of these reaction videos...thank you........No apologies for feeling music......that is what is so great about REAL music. Brings out true emotions from your soul. If it doesn't touch you, you are not alive.
I watched this live on a hot summers day with all my house windows open and you could hear Freddie and the boys blasting this incredible performace out from every house. What a day and it warms my heart to see a veautiful girl enjoying the music which was an important part in my life back in the day.
Your reaction is so good. It's natural to someone who has a deep love for music and the influence it can have on many different Generations and Cultural backgrounds. I have just subscribed today. Never ever be ashamed of your tears from the music you listen to. Freddy, Michael and Sinead and many others who have moved onto the next chapter left us so many good memories to cherish and motivate us. Lest we forget!
People also ask Who originally did Crazy Little Thing Called Love? Queen "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is a song by the British rock band Queen. Written by Freddie Mercury in 1979, the track is included on their 1980 album The Game, and also appears on the band's compilation album Greatest Hits in 1981.
The greatest live performance in rock history! This wasn't even a Queen audience. They didn't join the Live Aid lineup until all of the tickets had been sold...but it didn't matter as Freddie OWNED the stage that day! I was at the USA Live Aid show in Philadelphia that day watching this live feed from London and not believing what I was seeing! Supposedly David Bowie was backstage during this show waiting for his upcoming set. As Queen left the stage, he walked up to his old friend Freddie and said "how the hell am I supposed to follow THAT?" The movie made it appear that Freddie already knew he had AIDS at this point. He didn't (it would be another two years before he was diagnosed), but he DID have a bad case of laryngitis and throat polyps and was told not to sing, but he did anyway! Watching your joyous reaction to this made me realize there's still hope for young people today!
