In the 1990s? That was the decade when the marriages of members of the royal family were breaking up: Anne and Mark Phillips, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Charles and Diana; then the Queen and Prince Charles were unpopular because of Diana's death. I don't think the late Queen liked the 1990s much: 1991 was her annus horribilis and Windsor Castle burnt down. Perhaps you were being ironic?
@@MrBulky992 so was the 1980’s for them, it was still a great decade also! I was a preteen upto late teens, My life and millions of others lives didn’t revolve around the royal family 24/7.
The Queen was modest. She made herself less important for other people too, but Diana fanatics dont appreciate the queen unfortunately. They always try to bring her down
@@KingJackson11355 I live in US but I am Middle Eastern with very confused feelings. In one hand she looks like an adorable person that you like effortlessly. On the other hand my region is still fucked up as the after math of British colonization and conspiracies.
Yes, I thought it was sweet that even she was standing turned towards her mother while God Save the Queen played, even though that song is not for a Queen Mother (or Queen Consort).
@@KingJackson11355 No . . . because the UK economy is on the bones of it's a#rse. Had a heating bill or gone shopping recently? Maybe you're still with parents in which case it's their worry. The Queen fallout hasn't happened yet. Just another negative to add to the sh/tshow that is 'Great' Britain.
I don’t think she was purposefully trying outshine her mother (maybe her sister lol j/k 😂). But after the Queen Mother she was best dressed no doubt. As the queen got older she really came into her own with her now famous style

So nostalgic. I remember them all well being in my fifties. So sad that it has all gone to pot now. I blame the media for alot of it. Always harrasing the royal family wanting stories.
All these people saying The Queen looks pissed off at 2 minutes. She's not. From this Englishman's pair of eyes, she is giving a low key, concerned "check in" with her member of staff that he's alright. He clearly was in too much of a hurry and jumped out of the car too quickly - he could have hurt himself. It was a discreet show of concern, NOT a reprimand.
This is a shocking revelation for me to see the Late Queen Elizabeth II. losing her temper in public- as she is emerging from her royal limousine she seems to be muttering angrily to the driver -even posturing in an uncharacteristic as the car is pulling away. Am I imagining this?
You have completely misconstrued it! She is very discreetly showing concern to check he's alright - he misjudged hopping out of the car way too quickly
So sad that this woman couldn’t come to terms with the fact that the king had died and she was no longer in charge. The true Queen was so gracious to let her mother act like she was still important.
@@leelouk In the royal line, no she wasn’t! Her title and privilege were strictly because of her husband. As a Queen Consort when he died so did her position. She was simply a commoner of Nobel, not royal, birth.
@@sathiavathithiagarajan7476 They disliked each other intensely. The QM refused to move out of Buckingham Palace until Phillip had the heat turned off in her apartment.
Queen Mother always looked tacky to me. Her poise, her manner, her smile, her greeting, the way she looked around, how she raised her chin LOL.... always overplaying her role to the point of being inadvertently hilarious.
I thought so, as well. It looks like it doesn't come naturally to her, and that those gestures are what she personally decided looks grand/royal. It always looked like she wanted everyone to see/notice her. I much prefer her daughter's understated demeanor. Elizabeth II always looked so dignified and commanding. She commanded everyone's attention with her quiet confidence - not with flourishes of the hand and facial expressions. Granted, Elizabeth II was a monarch, while her mother was not, but the Queen Mother still had the most exaggerated demeanor of any British royal I've seen in the 20th and 21st centuries. No one postured and gestured quite as much as she did.
@@anyaw340 Exactly. Queen Mother overplayed her queen role, maybe out of personal insecurities. After all she belongued to minor nobility, not royalty, whereas Elizabeth always knew who she was and took her role in stride, devoting herself to her position with an impeccable sense of duty and service. May she rest in peace.
The queen mother was 90?! She graciously walked up the stairs at the entrance with little jumps. What a extraordinary health! Also, looking back. 3 women being celebrated. Never take equality for granted.
There is also a videoclip in youtube where you can even see the Queen Mother DANCING at the same age! The title of this videoclip is "The Eightsome Reel, Ghillies ball at Balmoral." Amazing!
I wish it was still like this. Now, the Royal Family has had a bunch of rips and tears in recent years, and I don't think it will ever be like this again. It's how all families are meant to be, even the most prestigious.
A beautiful gesture that HM QE2 allowed her mother to take precedence over her and walk ahead. I have seen her do this on a few occasions like VE Day and other birthday events.
Wish we could have never lost any of them. Loved how HM The Queen looked after her mother. Also loved how she fast she got out the car the door hardly finishes opening and she is out like she is avoiding the taxi fare
Superb! Margaret was great, wasn’t she?!! I bet the three of them are having a rare old time now, on the gin and the fags, or whatever the afterlife equivalents are. ❤❤❤
I like how the queen's mother was expecting the Queen to walk ahead like she does but was noted that since its her night she should be first in line. She was the only person who has taken a step before the queen
No she was saying move the car out of the way because the Queen Mother was directly behind… I think she was perturbed that they didn’t get there earlier and The Queen was giving precedence to her mother.
no....the queen not mad, i think her majesty just wondering if the man okay since he out of the car while the car still moving....just take a look at queen expression...she just ask "are u okay" . That was im think..i am right?
The Queen Mother (a stupid title in my opinion) was a strange woman. On the outside, she looked like your kind old granny. Inside, she was cold as ice. A manipulator. A cold hearted woman. She said she was not as nice as people thought. An iron fist in a velvet glove. She considered herself always to be queen, even with her daughter as the actual queen.
@@KM-mv3qr Accounts come from former staff who worked for her at Clarence House, and from details provided by Diana, Princess of Wales who spoke to her friends about her, including Andrew Morton who published the infamous 1992 book and Rosa Monckton, Princess Diana's close friend. I never write things like this unless I have read sources for them.
@@kismit100 Really? So you think people who worked for her and the late Princess Diana were lying. Do some research about her and you will see how nasty a woman she was.
Her Majesty The Queen busted out of that car giving orders! I continue to find reasons to love The Monarchy. Her Majesty The Queen Mother was such a delightful person and a true treasure to the nation. What a wonderful family.
She told him to get her car out of the way so that her mother's could get in. Something had gone wrong with the timing. The Queen should have arrived after her mother.
If we watch the end, Princess Margaret is so accustom to being behind the Queen and the duke, she even goes to sit at the back and Prince Philip said no sit at the front.. she was like yeah I dnt mind..
Look how readily our late Queen Elizabeth II dressed and be shaved so low key letting the Queen Mum have the linelight. RIP the two Queen Elizabeth’s who I grew up (and old) with.
