trf12567 if you have watched queen performing in montreal they litterelly play this song at a high speed and right after that they litterely start playing dragin attack which is also one of queens most exhaustig songs to play on the drums
It’s cool the way Roger’s starts this song hitting both cymbals with his stick and then muting them. 0:25 The effect is cool. Such a phenomenal drummer.
and you can really tell he is 72 now, that's why he has another drummer besides him; he now drums like the sticks weight about a ton each; I love Roger since the first time i saw him, and that the reason i play drums, its hard to see your idols grow old, but hey, at least i can still see him live
I admire Roger so much. The amount of skill you need to even play drums because they are very difficult to play and he is a fantastic drummer. The amount of passion he’s putting into playing, which we can clearly see here is incredible. I’ve always had a thing for drummers, they for some reason interested me more than other people in bands. I just find it fascinating, how you can make so much art out of a set of round objects, really.
He was also an incredible guitarist, drummer, singer, and writer. Check out if you haven’t already I Wanna Testify. It is only Roger vocals and everything.
Roger was right when he said he had the best view in the house, look at that! All the boys having a good time,, the crowd going wild, who wouldn’t want to see that?
4 people that was meant to be together.. A perfect band with Freddie as the King. Roger is awesome! What he does here, highlights what a fantastic musician he is! But anyone would give their all being on stage with the greatest singer of all time, Freddie Mercury!. Long Live the King!
I saw them 6 times and went to Live Aid. Queen (with Freddie) truly are the greatest band ever. I met them all at Stafford Bingley Hall, too!. Great memories x
Roger: You are a legend Freddie! Freddie: No we ALL are! No doubt that Freddie was an out of this world performer with an incredible aura and voice but truth is he would have been nothing without the rest of the band. They all deserve their share of the success as they were all as amazing. ♥
When I really try to think of each individual, and appreciate their pure talent and raw magnetism, I become overwhelmed by the odds of this group ever happening in the first place.
As much as I love Freddie I do get frustrated when people focus only on him . They come out with things like “Freddie was Queen “. Well even Freddie always said there were four of them - not just him. Just listen to the sound they got with the four of them - amazing.
@Jacob Molyneux phil rudd? hell no. hes good but nowhere near the top dude. hes underrated yea but hes not incredible. simple acdc beats. why? cuz acdc is simple. E, D, G and A chords and power chords and thats it. followed by solos. john bonham easily takes #1 spot
@Jacob Molyneux every acdc song sounds the same lmao i was a huge fan for a decade until i actually realized that they all sound the same. same amp settings and same guitars same amps same speakers same mics. only different shit is tempo and medley
Many people who do not understand music only value Queen for Freddie's voice that is amazing and unique but Roger, Brian May and John Deacon's talent are what make Queen the best Band
I love at the first ‘now i’m here’ he’s singing to Roger. From the audience perspective whenever Freddie turns his back to them you just think his backs turned nut from Roger’s seat you can see that Freddie basically always is looking at Roger
Roger in the eighties was just unbelievable. Fantastic musical ability coupled with peak physical condition. See how he guards his cymbals with his life. These cam views give great insight into why the concerts were as good as they were.
Roger... amazing... and, then... there’s disco Deaky!! And, in mind’s eye - Freddie dancing in circles on the upper deck, and Brian running up and down the stairs while not missing a note!
He is so fast... And sexy 😍 I love how much Roger always uses the cymbals, it really adds a lot to their music not being just a rhythm base. This is drum artistry! And coming from a guy who doesn't mind technical things or doesn't even use notes much... I read that he can read notes nowadays but in the beginning, he taught himself without anything else but his natural gift in time. That's pretty damn impressing. And yes I know he is not the only one. I myself respect very much everybody who create their own sound and technique, with natural talent. Drummers have always been my weak spot and Roger can also sing at the same time. With such an amazing voice. While being so handsome. A real threat 😂🙈❤️
Interesting perspective. Nice to see Roger making magic with his drums, awesome, but I couldn't but notice the other members of Queen so focused and concentrated on their own thing and still everything was operating as smooth as silk, complete synchronisation, each in his zone and still as if one mind. That magic is till there and can be heard in every record. Thank you, Roger, Brian, Deaky and not the least thank you to Freddy for creating music that goes on from decade to decade. A huge huge thank you to each and every one of you from the Polar Circle! Please, plan a miniature tour of Europe, it would be a real pleasure and honour to see you live again. Your music has been part in my life in every turn. The only sad thing is there is no singer worth singing Freddie's lyrics. Adam Lambert fell short, sorry to say, no real charisma, only bravado... You, the Queen, will be perhaps one of the of the controversial groups, but in the best possible way. Misfits, eclectic, genuine, dedicated, true to their style... one of the top five bands in the world in the 70', 80' and 90's. Some may disagree, but to me they are the top band ever performing. Love you guys just as you are, the love is for your music. Play and create more superb memories.
Apart from the lead singer i always admire drummers in the band..i bet its exhausting to do this routines .but his rockin it..i love roger and freddie..
Dios mío, Roger... inmenso!!!!! Esos brazos espectaculares!!!!!!
One of my favourite Queen songs and one of the few from the great '74 concerts still played. At the end there is a really nice drum break. For the most part Roger plays it fairly straight but every once In a while he will just pull out a piece of genius such as the press roll in Killer Queen. That fill is top drawer. Hard to believe he is 70 next year but still rockin'.
Notable Roger, John y Brian.
The drummers I listen to now, are 10x more faster and technical, but it all started with Roger. THe was the first drummer that got me into drums. Love watching Roger and Queen. Reminds of my early teens and wanting to play on the school drum kit.
This is just sheer awesomeness!! Roger is working his arms off and Queen are a concert machine with their insane talent!! Please, let's get some time travel up soon so I can get to this concert!!!
Probably his best performance on Now I'm Here. What a blast ! The drum sound of 1986 Magic Tour was the best I have ever heard from Queen and they played as if it would be the last tour. And it became the last tour with Freddie.
