Hello friends!!!
Time for an epic Queen of Hearts/Frida Kahlo portrait! I have been wanting to do this concept for a very long time, but wasn't sure about how I wanted the composition to look. I think it ended up being a very cool painting, but a challenging one. Things tend to go less smoothly when I don't have a solid concept sketch established. However, I think it happened the way that it was supposed to because the outcome was better than I had anticipated.
This is an all-acrylic painting at the moment. I haven't decided if I'm going to finish it with oils or not. I kind of want to, but I'm on the fence. We shall see...

Love that you showed how you restarted,repainted and redid areas several times. A lot of times I just give up and trash the idea and painting . Don’t keep going. Love your work .

This piece is gorgeous!!!! I paint in acrylics (too scared for oils). The only way I can make them look right IS with layering. Plus I like chunkier canvases, rather than flat ones. One of my most commented on paintings had to turn into a palette knife experiment because that's what it wanted.

I'm in love with your art, Lydia! Your works resonate with my soul so much! You are my distant mentor! IAbstract realism and mixed media techniques is what I'm trying to develop now. Just from the thumbnail I can already say...I like it.. I love the series idear...looks great, to me. I like that you choose to experiment...Thankfully you decided to do it. I think sometimes you are just a bit hard to yourself. I do understand that your artist ey is different. Did I mentionrd already I like your hair cut, it fits you sooo well. I am new to your channel. Boy are you talented! Frida is a hero of mine and your portrait of her is outstanding. Personally it's too busy elsewhere and too many hearts for my liking but that's just my opinion and I have still subscribed because I love other stuff of yours. 🤗
