There are dozens and dozens of somehow even better Queen concerts than this one. It's just a shame that their audio isn't great since they weren't specially recorded like this one. If Newcastle 1979 was recorded like this, one of if not the best live vocal performance from Freddie ever, then my life would be complete.
Roger Taylor was deep deep deep in the pocket. And nailing vocals at the same time. One of those rare beautiful moments where everyone is in the feel, including the audience. Incredible energy. What a band.
The problem is that Y/T removes anything that has just the orig song so they have to actually change it slightly albeit some go waaaay overboard on the reacting during the song. Kills it for me too
Yeah you’re right...Freddie was absolutely firing on all cylinders. Love, wherever it may be...FREDDIE Calling...and of course Roger with that distinctive falsetto. Thirty-four years on and this performance is so powerful. Could anybody else match up to this?
@@geraldherrmann787 Very true. [nod] And I read somewhere that Roger had a side band where he sang and played guitar. It's boggling how talented all these guys were/are. :)
Back in the day, before the internet, before auto tune, when you HAD to actually listen to the radio for concert announcements.....back in the day there were a number of “music” magazines each one held a “poll” of the “best song”, “ best new act” and so forth....Queen consistently brought home “Best Live Act.” Every year ...
Freddy was THE queen of QUEEN!!! They are the best and I'm glad people today especially young people play their songs and videos, kids today would love them
OK I'm old, I saw Queen live 5 times. I suggest you watch them at Live Aid, to this day it's the largest concert ever held. It was in aid to raise money for the Ethiopian Famine in the early 1980's. At the time of Live Aid I was serving in the British Royal Marine Commandos in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. We listened to it on the radio. We were surrounded be the horror of the Famine, but when Queen came on the radio those poor soles who were there even reacted in a very positive way. I remember that a lot of us Royal Marine Commandos were crying watching some of the children dancing along, I'm teary eyed just remembering. I looked around at men I had fought alongside, who were tough, hardened Royal Marine Commandos who I had fought along side in a war against Argentinian's in 82. By the end of Queen's set we were dancing with the children. It went along way to help build their trust in us. The famine is one of the two worst memories I have. I only watched it for the first time last year, my son put it on the TV. A lot of memories came back and a lot of tears.
I'm 23, and I grew up with this kind of music because of my parents. My mom was a huge George Michael fan and my dad listend to a lot of music but especially Queen. That's also how I got in to the Queen fandom. I remember my first youtube video I watched was Queen - Don't stop me now. Also I live in the Netherlands, and each year around christmas until 00:00 new years eve, a radio station plays 2000 songs. We can vote on songs to be in the top 2000, and it will be ranked from 2000 to 1, it has started in 1999 and Bohemian Rhapsody has ranked number one , 17 times. Last year Queen had a total of 37 songs in the top 2000.
I'm a bit late. But I first heard Queen when I was at primary school in the late 90's. My teacher at the time use to stick some Queen on and turn it up loud while us kids were on our lunch break. I mostly kept to myself so I use to regularly stay in the classroom with him listening to it. Have loved them ever since. Their music has helped me and continues to help me get through some really tough times as we all get from time to time. I owe them a lot. About a year and a half ago I achieved my lifetime dream of seeing them live. It was the best night of my life. Only Brian & Roger have kept the band going, but a very talented singer by the name of Adam Lambert has joined them. His vocal range is seriously impressive. He handles all of Queen's songs with ease. I'm sure if Freddie was still around he would approve. Hello from New Zealand by the way.
Queen is Legendary and always will be..Amazing chemistry, totally focused, very harmonized, and a lot of energy. Freddie, Brian, Roger and John, best musicians by far. Don't forget Roger's backing vocals while playing the drums. Concerts are not like that today. No lip syncing whatsoever. Pure talent. ❤️🔥
The stars aligned and the gods smiled when these 4 lads got together and formed a band, it happened once before when 4 other lads started a band, they called themselves The Beatles. Roger Taylor's drumming and backing vocals are epic. If you were in the audience that night you will remember that forever.
Can anyone imagine why someone would give this thumbs down??? This is just an unbelievably great performance of a great song by the greatest band ever!
No auto tune, no ear pieces that artists today actually blame bad performances on. Just 4 incredibly talented guys playing their instruments. Freddie was once asked what his favourite instrument to play is! He answered “the crowd, darling!”❤
What makes Freddie even more impressive is that he was singing with nodules on his vocal cords which made singing painful. He was diagnosed in 1975 but refused to have them removed for fear it would damage his vocal cords. He was the ultimate entertainer and continued to do what he loved at the risk of his health.
You should also check out “You Take My Breath Away” live at Hyde Park 1976. This one is just Freddie Mercury on the piano with an amazing love song! He performed this before it was recorded in the studio. He was excited to do this song and he nailed it! I am amazed by his passion and vulnerability in this performance.
That song at Life Park is so soothing and beautiful!! Queen is my favorite rock band of all time and it's because they did everything and I didn't like everything they did but I like most of what they did. a group of the best musicians and vocalists of all time!! The multi-layer harmonies with all of the musicians were incredible.
Freddie Mercury was of Persian heritage and was born in Zanzibar. All members were students when they first met. Freddie studied art and he designed the logo for Queen. Brian studied astronomy og physics, John studied electronic og Roger dentist, but became a biologist.
I'll rember for the rest of my life! I was 19 years old, in my car, hearing on the radio that Freddie has died! (Could tell the momen closeto a crossing in Vienna... had to stop because you can't drive while crying!)!!!
Don’t forget John Deacon’s bass playing. Also he was a fantastic songwriter. In fact each member wrote a number one hit. The only band of true professional musicians that together were genius.
The best ever…never could be replaced imo. #1 all around, but Freddie….I still cry over his being gone and how he suffered so, with bravery and eloquence. I miss his voice so much.
Woaw this is so incredible great you can cry, you can react on the hole Montreal-concert its the best ever, I nearly see the concert every day…..and its like I see it for the first time everytime…this is like bee in heaven for a while ❤️❤️❤️ and of course Live Aid is a MOST….Queen is a MOST
A couple of live performances you might want to check out, White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975, Save Me live at Montreal 1981 and Love Of My Life live at Wembley 1986. My first memory of Queen was running round my living room as a small kid screaming along to Tie Your Mother Down (you might want to check out the Wembley 1986 version), I was about 7/8 and too young to know what it was about, I just loved the tune and the energy of it. Also watching the Live Aid concert on the telly, I watched it at a friends house and we were both mesmerized when Queen came on, singing along and clapping just like the crowd did. So many great memories.
Ilove this special performance, in my eyes the best single song live performance of all time in rock History. And dont forget to say that Roger M. Taylor also got the Pipes singing in this. I Think all 3 ( The Bassist never sung anything) are amazing good singers in their own way.
Great reaction guys, you should react to Queen live at Wembley 1986: Another One Bites The Dust, A Kind of Magic, Under Pressure and Who Wants To Live Forever. Also, White Queen, Live at the Odeon Hammersmith 1975 beautiful vocals from a Freddie and a great jamming session from the four of them, so talented! x ❤️Freddie ❤️
This is so awsome, 7 minutes something of pure bliss and chills. Its 39 years ago, but totally goes through the screen into the core of my heart and soul. This is the best performance i have ever seen in my whole life.
This is their BEST performance of this song! They are all such brilliant musicians, and of course no one could ever sing and perform like Freddie! You need to react to Play The Game live in Montreal1981, also .... that whole concert was pretty much brilliant. Love Freddie / Queen forever!! :-)
I’ll always regret not seeing Queen live. They were revolutionaries in the rock world. Mumford & Sons is a real band these days. All members are talented.
I was 12 years old when night at the opera dropped. BoRap from this show is also fantastic. Pretty much every song is worth reacting to. Save Me Dragon Atrack/now I’m here reprise Love of my life
I saw this concert in a movie theater with other Queen fans and it was so fun watching everyone's reaction to this performance. I'd already seen it because I have the DVD, but there was a lot of people who hadn't seen it. What a fun experience.
I was lucky enough to hear Queen for the first time at Manchester University where they played live on March 20 1974. I had never heard them before but went on a recommendation from a friend.
I'm new to your group....Queen has been my band since 1975, I was late. This is the most beautiful live performance!! BTW...Brian's voice is killer too. I know it's hidden a lot by Freddie, but he's awesome. What a range.
I can proudly say that I've had the opportunity to see probably 3 of the greatest vocalists in rock history in my lifetime. I've seen Freddie, twice, Ann Wilson of Heart at the begining of their journey in 1977 and Steve Perry of Journey, twice. Here's a little fact for you guys...Queen is one of the only, if not the only, band that all 4 members have written at least one #1 hit song. Been a fan since their first album in 1973.
Kudos to my boy Roger for his drumming and amazing vocals. What a great voice ! Has a great solo catalogue too where you can see just how good he really is. His side band The Cross was where he was lead singer and guitarist, Just so talented.
I remember seeing them in 1982 in Atlanta. I had been a fan for years but seeing them in concert was an amazing experience. Brian May blew me away with his guitar solos and Freddie......well what can you say about him. Please react to some older stuff from the Rainbow.
LOVED watching your faces as this song progressed! That's why I love reaction videos! I can't wait to see your next Queen reaction. Live is always better with a few exceptions. If you watch Killer Queen go for the Top of the Pops video, classic, and if you react to the "dis of all time" video choose the lyrics version of "Death on two legs"! But I would recommend Under Pressure, Its a kind of magic, and Another Bites the dust = all from Wembley 1986!
Great reactions guys! Yes more Queen please! I agree with the others White Queen live in Hammersmith but this one gets block often. All this Montreal concert was amazing, Save me and Dragon attack two completely different songs but oh my , so good. Everything from their Wimbley concert : It's a king of magic, Another one bites the dust, Who wants to live forever. Can't wait for your next Queen reaction.
Queen live - a treat! This is a well orchestrated jam session and they have a ball with this song! In Australia we still have some "pub bands" and they play great music - that is where most of the older bands started playing to the audience that they had on a particular night and reading them - I think that is where the best bands hone their skills, pity that so many bands are "created" these days instead of growing together organically with great musicians coming together for the love of their craft.
Tie Your Mother Down also at Montreal. One of my MANY Queen favorites ! I am exactly 10 days older than Brian and I was about 27 when I first heard them on the radio. St the time Elton John was my favorite so I mostly followed him.
I saw them twice - once in 1980 in Oakland and then in '83 or '84 in Irvine, CA. I may not remember the date but I have vivid images and sounds in my mind from those shows. Incredible performances.
Yes! More Queen please. So many beautiful songs and performances to check out. Save Me and Dragon Attack from this same concert, White Queen and Liar at the Hammersmith 1975 to just name a few.
incredible band to see live....Bohemian Rhapsody was the first 45 I ever bought...waaaay back in 1975 in the days when bands were bands and very good at their craft....all the members of Queen were incredible artists and performers
Awesome reaction guys, all four of the band wrote number one hits, no other band has ever done this. For live performances, try Hammer to Fall, Under Pressure, Who Wants to Live Forever at Wembley 1986, Fat Bottomed Girls at The Bowl 1982, Save Me and Play the Game at Montreal 1981.
Okay... First of all, speechless. I cannot imagine anything better. Having said that, music is not a competition. And there is so much emphasis from all these "reality" adolescents who have somehow become the arbiters of media focus, not based on anything beyond some teen age angst and a equally distorted emphasis on irrelevant diametrics. Music is emotion... it resonates w/ the emotional connection it finds a home with. I LOVE So many songs and performances because of the emotions and memories they trigger. Nothing about that fits into the demographics that these "decision makers" value. Having taken the long way round, I simply wanted to tell you that you guys are great and keep doin' what you're doin'.
Freddie wrote this as a tribute to Aretha Franklin….he really admired her and had hoped that she would sing it one day….it has a real gospel feel to it🤩
Listen to Queen 70’s their music is unbelievable the arrangement of their music is something that can not be recreated. The words of the songs are intelligent. Nice reaction. 🙏
When I was 16, I wanted desperately to go see Queen but my mom wouldn't let me because she had seen the video for Bohemian Rhapsody and 'didn't like the look of Freddie'. Well they came back 2 years later guess who was there??? Best Freaking concert EVER!!! Freddie was at his best in 1982. I've been to several concerts but that one is the one that remains in my memory the most. One live performance you can check out is Queen at Live Aid. It was in 1985 and they stole the show. I remember watching the entire concert and Queen out performed everyone there. Thanks again for this reaction. You're right - there aren't any "bands" anymore sadly.
from the Queen movie I understood that Freddy respected the audience a lot. Not surprise that he perform a different version when he was doing it live... also, I live in Montreal...so... you are welcome :)
