A song written by Roger Taylor. Great American influences chime into this track... something about it reminds me of a rock n roll disco vibe. Or perhaps that`s just the Prime Jive ;-)
Do enjoy the reaction.

So, back in the 70's jive was an expression for dancing. Prime music+prime jive=prime dancing. Look up 1970's dancing. People really get down! It was a great era for parties, dancing & friendship. I grew up in the 70's. I remember it so well!

Freddie's voice at the beginning is savage and Roger nails the rest of the song. And Brian's solo is awesome too

I love this!! I love Roger’s voice- have you heard him sing Strange Frontier? I love it when Queen Rock and Roll!🔥 I’m learning to actually listen to each member’s play each instrument! I enjoy the music so much more. Thank you big guy!!💛

They are both singing because there was a “split vote” as to who should sing. So Freddie sang the “intro” and the Roger took over to rock the song! Also, Queen grew up listening to American Rock. So yes, the American music influence was part of their childhood and musical tastes.

When Freddie sings & Roger is doing back up vocals they blend so well. Add Brian’s voice and “it’s a kind of magic”. Roger’s voice is perfect for the American Rock n Roll “prime jive”... no pun intended (well maybe). 😁 Brian’s guitar WOW.

Great Reaction, This is one of the more underrated songs from the game album, There is a story about this song that tells how both Roger and Freddie had a different idea for this song, Both of them recorded their demo of the song and presented it to Brian and John for them to vote on which one is better, Brian preferred Roger's version while John liked Freddie's so they ended up doin both, thus both Freddie and Roger has a part. Prime Jive either means Superior Music or Dancing Could you do Queen ''Is this The World Created'', It is a short song so you can do 2 in 1, Both Studio And live

Because I’m picky about semantics 😜: say they recorded different VOCALS. The way you worded it sounds like both Freddie and Roger wrote a version of this song. It’s Roger’s song 💯, they just differed on who got the vocal. I’m glad Brian and Freddie lost that vote, personally. This type of rocker is right in Roger’s vocal wheelhouse.

This is on my playlist every day. So much fun! Freddie's intro is superb. Roger kills the rest. His other song on the Game is another rocker, Coming Soon. Love that one too. This was the first album they recorded in Munich and the town and its clubs had quite the influence on them. Dragon Attack and Another One Bites the Dust are two other examples!

I’m a baaaaddddd girl, I overlook this song much of the time as I usually listen to my favorites! But I love this song! Queen were definitely in tune with the word around them, incorporating so many different types of music and the environment that they may have been in. Freddie and Roger together consolidating their ideas for this song made it a beautiful thing to listen to and without a guitar 🎸 solo by Brian it would have been lacking the Queen flavor! I’m definitely going to have to listen again as I did need an uplift before I watched your reaction Hap! Fantastic as as usual! Peace ✌️

2.00 the note Freddie hits is a high c5, he actually attempted a similar note in phoniex 1980 live a B4 high note which is only slightly lower than the c5 note.

What a good vibe!!! Wanting to dance, dance, dance!!! Dance until the feet hurts (metaphoric even). Joining Freddie's version with Roger's version was a very smart move, it just goes absolutely out of the box. And in Portugal, we have the expression "Ir à Baixa de (Lisboa or any other city)" which can mean either go downtown or go to the center city. I know, I know, we are awesome 😁😁😁😂

JIVE - from the urban dictionary: 1) Jazz slang from the 1930s and 40s. The language of swing. 2)A partner dance from the 1950s based upon a 6-count pattern. A rather simplistic descendent of the more complex and exciting Lindy Hop. Danced to rockabilly, early rhythm 'n' blues, rock 'n' roll and sometimes swing, although Lindy is the preferred dance.

I grew up in the 50s & remember those dances. And I knew that "jive" came out of the jazz age. Thanks for your clarification.

The thing about Queen is they always evolved... in every single album even tho they had their own sound and stamp they were always experimenting .... by the time they did the Game album in just 7 years they evolved more than the stones which always sounded the same all the time which I love them as well but didn't take risks and wasn't so attacked by the media .

As a Queen fan who loves Rogers voice I was so pleased to see you react to this song. Some of Rogers lyrics can be a bit funny, but I always love his voice. A favourite Freddie and Roger effort of mine is Dog With A Bone. Rogers voice in that is amazing. Here is a link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o6PZmBFLPdU.html

Roger wrote it & wanted to sing it, but Brian & the producer (Reinhold Mack) suggested Fred should. Two versions were recorded. Brian voted for Fred, John voted for Roger. A compromise was reached. This was the end result. Synthesisers were played by Reinhold Mack.

Love this song! With the exception of maybe the lyrics, I think this has a very David Bowie-ish British feel, especially the background vocals towards the end and certain words Roger sings but hey, just my two cents. You're right about "downtown". We do use that in the U.S. I have no idea what "Prime Jive" is. The Jive is a dance but Prime Jive? Haven't heard the Jive referred to in that way. The only thing I can compare it to is Primetime which is generally referring to the most expensive advertising time and the best programming on television, 8-11PM in most of the U.S. Some of it is 7-10PM. So, maybe he's talking about when the best dancers or music are present? I have no clue. Does it say it that book you have?
