my family usually has a gathering before Christmas weekend. Last Saturday with some relatives it was on Saturday 17 2016. Although I don't celebrate Christmas, family is important time to gather around. I still get presents or gifts. Some people don't celebrate Christmas religiously but view it a time family instead.

I just love Queen Elizabeth ,she's such a darling. she puts our current crop of leaders,politicians and elected officials to shame. over 6 decades of reign and not one scandal to her name. She is an epitome of loyalty,duty,self sacrifice ,stability, good morals and GODLINESS. She's nice but she never actually DOES anything with her authority. If she did, THEN we could call her superior. But of course, she is bound by the law as much as her father and monarchs before her. She's not "loyal", she's bound to her obligations. She is "dutiful", I'll agree. She is not "self-sacrificing". I don't know where one can even get that from. She's stable, so I'll agree to that. As for morals, I'm unsure. She seems about on the same level as everyone else her age, but as such a public figure she can't really expose too much. And godliness...no. Just no. It was very nice to see the comedian Stanley Baxter deliver the Queen's Xmas message this year (2015), as the Queen is too old and frail to do it anymore. Stanley Baxter, in drag, makes an excellent Queen and we should all thank Stanley Baxter for his skill in delivering the Queen's message in such a way that it is almost impossible to notice the difference between Stanley Baxter in drag and the real Queen. Stanley also offered to deliver the Queen's message for free.
If all these hateful comments would just watch a simple documentary of the queens long and historical reign they would see that this monarch was and is the worlds best leader, she has gone through so much and see the world evolve over the past 65 years on the throne.
For the first time in my 30 years of existence to have listened to the Queen's entire speech. My attention has been drawn to the royals since Prince Harry got engaged to Meghan. As people of colour, Meghan serves as an eye for us in the royal family. I'm happy for her. All thanks to the Queen and Prince Harry for making us happy! Actually, the Royal Family's money comes from the crown estate, of which only 15% of the profits go to the Royal Family the rest to the Government, however when there is and event a grant is taken from this money to fund it.

The monarchy doesn't effect your daily life, nor does it cost you thousands or even hundreds of dollars. If you want a republic, then go to the USA and live there instead. Why would you want to change hundreds of years of tradition? It would take years and lots of money which many Canadians would rather spend on something else anyways.

It includes transactions from flights, hotels, restaurants, shopping, etc. Every dollar spent on the royal family is returned 10x in tourism dollars. This is not a minor affair. Most UK citizens know this even if they mock the royal family. Why give up a good show that keeps giving?
