When Freddie arches his back,it gives his lungs more air to hit those notes. It’s said he had a four octave vocal range.I just love this version of “Somebody to Love”.The ending is great,all timed together but doing their own thing. Another great live performance by Queen is Live Aid 1985. It’s about 20 minutes long.

all members of Queen played several instruments - multiinstrmentalists- Roger just made an album during the look sown where he played all the instruments - and the singing by himself - it's called "the outsider".
@Sassypaws4927

Freddie was an amazing pianist. He could hear a tune once and then immediately play it. He began piano lessons around age 7 and continued all the time he was in boarding school in Bombay (Mumbai), India. He organized his first band at age 14 while still in school. He was so talented, he could even play the piano upside down. At one point, he used a piano as the headboard for his bed and when inspiration struck, he would raise his arms above his head while laying flat on his back, and play the tune running through his head. As for other instruments, once during a bath, Freddie had an idea for a song. He got someone to bring him a guitar while still in the tub, where proceeded to write the song "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" in about 10 minutes using only 3 different chords. Of course, he played the guitar on the recording and when they performed it live (i.e. during the Live Aid performance). He used to joke about it sometimes, claiming he only knew 3 chords. Other times he said he was so restricted while in the tub, there was only room to play 3 chords (and, of course, one time he swore that the damn guitar would only play 3 chords - LOL). He was also known to play the drums sometimes while Queen was in the studio but he never played on any recordings or on stage. I think he did it more for fun than anything else (or possibly to tease/annoy Roger).

QUEEN is unprecedented talent, genius, uniqueness, & Freddie is the best front man ever!!! It is said that Freddie Mercury had one of the most recognizable voices in pop and rock history. His speaking voice fell in the baritone range, but he delivered most songs in the tenor range. His known vocal range extended from bass low F (F2) to soprano high F (F6) & a 4 octave range !!! The famous Freddie strut! I don't know if you did live Aide 85, it's a 20 minute set they do in front of 70-80 thousand people and he has the WHOLE audience eating out of the palm of his hands. They do what he says, when he says to do it, and stops when he says to stop. You want to see some strutting, this is the live performance you want to watch. It's what the movie was based around. And if you watch it, keep in mind also that this performance at live aide two things. Freddie had a severe throat infection and Docs advised him not to do live aide, but he ignored them and did it anyway and was not about to let his fans know he wasn't at 100%, and believe me, you couldn't tell. Secondly, this would be the first time his Father ever watched him perform, the first time he realized just how talented Freddie was and how many lives he touched, him and the whole band. I keep saying "Freddie" but the great thing about this band is they allowed one another to shine, it wasn't "just" about Freddie. Their balance with his vocals and the instruments was perfection and sharp. No band to this day can create the same unique sound that they did. Please if you haven't seen it, trust me it's not one you want to miss and worth the 20 or so minutes, you wont even see the time go by, and you wont want it to end!! lol Oh and Freddie also played guitar :) You guys are great, love the vid. Freddie also played the guitar as you'll see in the live shows when they do some" playing around"! As absolutely wonderful as Freddie is, how about a shout out to Roger Taylor on drums...how hard is it to play drums as well as he does AND sing at the same time?? Not many can do it like him!! Brian May, genius on the guitar and piano. animal rights activist and astrophysicist!!! He and his father built from scratch his guitar from bits and pieces from around the house! Bassist, John Decon...shy and humble man who retired after Freddie passed, couldn't bring himself to continue after losing his dear friend. The three of them did get together to do a beautiful song for Freddie called "No One But You, (Only the Good Die Young)", I highly recommend it! Oh my God... Listen guys. I always watch reaction videos... And a lot of them are Queen reactions. After watching you two I honestly felt lifted up. The joyfulness and fun you guys were having, along with the obvious lovingness between the two of you, is such a breathe of fresh air. Thank you, truly, for making this video. I'm going to check out your other videos and subscribe also. But after feeling somewhat down... You guys really made me feel better. Please keep up the fun. God bless you both..... Thanks, Sal.

Brian's natural hair! Step n Jay, I love you guys! If you liked Another One Bites The Dust, I think you'll love the Queen song Dragon Attack, too. Funky and rockin'. Amazing bass. There's a great live version from this same 1981 Montreal show. And the studio version of Dragon Attack is mind-blowing, too. Especially through headphones. Keep up the great work and let's all keep sharing Love and the best of humanity through great music!

Yep to below - not a "perm" on guitarist - his natural hair - a little overgrown, perhaps -- also, a couple of things to note about this song: LIVE... LIVE... LIVE - no "autotune" -- and the inspiration may have been somewhat obvious - it's gospel -- with the call-backs and all - Brian (guitar) and Roger (drums) providing background vocals... pretty impressive, hey? I appreciate your reaction -- :)

Freddie learned piano at the British-style boarding school he attended as a boy in India, he could also play some guitar. Brian (lead guitarist with the big hair) also plays piano. Freddie LOVED Aretha Franklin, and i would have loved to see them do this song as a duet!

I just subscribed and I am really enjoying your Queen Commentaries. The most moving, to me, is Mother Love. Freddie was recorded on his death bed singing various lyrics. He sang every phrase just three times. Thats it. He knew he would never see finished product. One day, he said, I'm tired. We can work on this tomorrow. He never did. Brian May sings the last verse. Its chilling.

Went though you list and I didn't see a reaction to Queen at Live Aid. It is rated as the best live rock performance in history and you will Freddy play his guitar.

I really enjoy watching your channel and great reaction too! I think that the both of you would love hearing the song by Queen "Under Pressure" with David Bowie, it's a fantastic performance!

Freddie also played the guitar. While he himself always depreciated his abilities on the guitar, others like Brian May said he's actually pretty capable. He also composed several songs on the guitar like his Elvis Presley tribute "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" or the early heavy metal song "Ogre Battle".

Freddie played guitar. Check out the Live Aid 85 concert. He plays the guitar and piano for that set. Queen rocked the house.
