Ah, Freddie’s last moments on camera “I still love you” 😢
@pammcconatha6968

this song was written by Roger Taylor bout his family but with Freddie being so sick the song took on new meaning....last video Freddie did at the end Brian said it was Freddie's goodbye to the fans.

Sad... the last shots of Freddie... the last "I love you" was his good bye to their Fans. What a legend, saying to his bandmembers "I want to make music, as long as I can, so write me songs..."

Whenever someone watches this video all they talk about is how sick Freddie was, how close to death he was and stuff. No, what YOU said is what he really wanted to hear. He made you feel good, he gave you positive feelings, he sent you love. You're a true Queen fan
@CGermanB

I have to disagree, once people know the fact that this was done just before his death it changes the entire song and video when watching it knowing how much pain he was in. I don't think JB knew this fact and he would have looked at it differently too.

I'm a lifelong Queen fan but I've never been able to watch this video till a few days ago. Watching you react is the 3rd time & tears came to my eyes just as quickly as the 1st. Freddie was so frail but that God-given voice was still strong, powerful & beautiful. Lovely song, lovely reaction. Thanks, Sweetie.

Its sad to see him so ill. My Auntie worked in a hospital as a councillor helping aids patients. She always says if he'd been around today, the medicine available now would have meant he'd be able to live a nearly normal life . Very sad he got sick back in the early 90s .
@RastaSaiyaman
@RastaSaiyaman 5 лет назад
Actually he got sick in 1986. Before the first of two encores of the band's performance at Knebworth he all of a sudden went "I FUCKING CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE!" but the tone of his voice and the way he said it made it clear that other than his usual Diva persona outings. This time he was serious and the others went wide-eyed, if Freddie says something like that with that kind of finality in the way he said it, there there must be something wrong, VERY wrong. So when the band went into the studio to record "the miracle" in 1987, Freddie took them apart and told them about having Aids and pressed them to keep quiet about it and just record as much music while he was still able to sing. He died in 1991, one day after he formally told the world that he had Aids.

I love this video because even though the end was near we get to see these four friends still together through all the good times and rough times. From 1971 when John Deacon joined, 2 years before their first album, all the way until Freddie's death in 1991. I know you'll eventually get to it but "Play the Game" the official video was the song that hooked me in a long time ago.
@teresadutson3121

When he did this he was at the end of his life. He was truly amazing. Brian as told the story couple times in interviews that when they were working on this he would get so tired and they would say what you want to call it a day and he would take a shot of vodka and put his fist and pounded down on the controls and propping himself up and say no we're going to continue on and he would work on and he got it done. He wanted to get as much work as he possibly could done before he passed away. And you can see in the video how thin he was and there's a part in the interviews and the documentary of Queen where they're showing the video shoot for the song how much makeup they're putting on him to cover lesions and sores on his jawline and you know he was just so frail yet his voice was as strong and soothing and as spectacular as it always had been. His body was slowly dying but his voice remained untouched by that poisonous disease. I still can not listen to his last songs that he recorded without crying. He never returned to finish them they had stopped and he said oh I'll be back to finish them and you never made it back Queen finish them after he passed away. oh my god when I listen to them his voice and just the beautiful way that they did finish them all these years later and I still cry every single time. They're on Google and RU-vid made in that bed you should give them a listen

As a lifelong Queen fan, and with as much as I love this song, this video has always been difficult to watch. And not because he looked so frail and ill, which is indeed heartbreaking, when you can remember Freddie in his prime, and even just a handful of years before this, filmed not all that long before he passed. It’s the look he gives the camera at the end with the “I still love you”. Several people over the years, including Brian and Roger, I believe, have said that was a sort of goodbye from Freddie. Even if I get through the rest of the song without crying, with or without the video, that always get me. But this also makes me remember why I have so much respect for Freddie Mercury still after all this time. No matter how sick he became, or how much pain he was in, he refused to give up until his body gave him no choice. The power and passion was still in his voice til the very end, and even dying, he sounded light years better than most artists could ever dream of on their best day. Thank god for Freddie Mercury, even if it was just for a little while.

Can't wait to hear your film review. It came out earlier here in the UK and a huge group of our family went. I was sobbing by the end, even though I knew what happened. His death had a massive effect on me (and countless others) when I was a teenager. I have something bad to admit and that is that I split my male friend's lip for saying Freddie deserved to die of A.I.D.S because he was (insert the worst description of being a male homosexual you can think of). It was the week it happened and I didn't think, just reacted. I felt bad about it immediately (I'm normally a complete pacifist) but my friend said he deserved it apologised. Of course, he didn't deserve to be struck, but that's what happened and how much I was affected by Freddie's death and still am. Bizzare considering I didn't know the man.

Freddie Mercury was incredibly ill and yet the strongest man alive and so brave to continue working as long as he did and do this video!! BRAVE!! Freddie loves his job and he loved the fans. Everything he did was for love and to let everyone know he thanked them for supporting him and being a fan of the band & let everyone know that he still loved them. Freddy was always going to love his fans and his friends and family. What’s sad is that he was taken advantage of by so many because of his generosity, & once he was betrayed, that was it. He never had to question Mary at all. His bandmates and Jim and the ones that work for him at home he trusted with his life. He loved us all❤️.

Is it sad to watch our Freddie in this condition? You bet, and painful, too. But there is another side to this. For all the sadness at how obviously fragile he looks here, he is also a freaking superhero. What an inspiration! He was only months away from his curtain call from this life stage, and he's right there, fighting like a tiger through fatigue and pain, bravely struggling to stay vertical long enough to get it done... and his determination helped him to see it through to the finish. His voice was still pretty strong, his resolve remarkable. What a man. Bless you, Freddie, and by the way... we still love you, too.

Big part of life. Queen consistently came up with one hit after another. Their harmony is always recognizable. Think about Roger Taylor doing very complex drumming and singing amazing back vocals at the same time. Brian has also a great voice and his guitar sound is iconic for Queen. I saw once an interview with him where he uncovered that he handmade himself an amplifier with the distortion so iconic for his sound. John Deacon is also a brilliant musician, but less in the spotlight. He made a lot of great songs.

His last recording. You can tell he was looking pretty sickly at that time. But he was still getting with the program. Checking them out doing keep yourself alive in Munich

Love how much you appreciate Queen and Freddie. Roger Taylor wrote this beautiful song. Freddie's last video and his goodbye to the fans that he loved so much. Mother Love was his last recorded song and the final verse was sung by Brian May because Freddie had become too frail and sick to complete it. Lover of life and singer of songs. The greatest singer and entertainer. RIP, Freddie.
