I used to be a baker, and my degree is in history so I love this series! But did anyone else laugh when the male chef said, “This is a Victorian flower sifter.” To which she replied, “WOOW! This is AMAZING!” I stopped and thought…. ‘So like the identical flower sifter I have in my kitchen…’ lol! It was so cute and funny how they made it sound like the way the Victorians did it was better than the way we do it now. When the reality is, I find in my studies that we don’t give people from the past enough credit. Because modern day society is so advanced in regards to technology and such, it can be really difficult for people to realize how advanced people from the past truly were. I mean, we use the exact same technology to sift flower! Even more amazing, modern day mechanical watches (opposed to quartz movements) are usually made using the exact same technology they used in the 15th century! Some watch companies even use the companies original tools and equipment from the companies origins, which is often up to 200+ years ago. History is amazing, and if it wasn’t for our predecessors taking steps to invent things that were more efficient or made life better in some way, we wouldn’t be where we are now, as we wouldn’t have had anything to build on. Humans beings are absolutely amazing!
*flour 😊 I agree that history is fascinating and it’s amazing when you look at the technology they were using and see the origins of many of the things we use daily. They were very clever.
Is there a reason why this video is being reposted like it's new? This episode has been available on this channel for a long time. I was so excited about the possibility of a new episode. All that's changed is the name/description of this episode. I'm really disappointed.
If yoy check the bottom of the description, you can see that they just license all the documentaries. So they probably just repost them every sp often because some folks dont go searching for videos they percieve as old 🤷♂️
I’ve seen it before too but it wasn’t on this channel. It was Real Royalty or something like that. They had all of them probably close to a year ago now. I watch them again because I like them, and it ensures I see the next thing this channel posts.
@@moniquem783 and others, you are correct. Thank you for pointing it out to me. 🙂 I definitely subscribe to that Real Royalty channel as well as this one. I need to get some organization on here lol. YT is fairly new to me, as I didn't really start watching or commenting until the Covid thing started. So I'm still getting used to looking at the name of the channels when watching the content.
I know. It can be frustrating, but I think that they sometimes have slightly different versions of the previously released shows. I swear, some shows I've seen before look different, in an enjoyable way. Either that or my memory is failing me. (This episode is a good example -- I am POSITIVE that Tim didn't talk in as much detail about Queen Victoria's and Disraeli's political conversations in the episode I saw previously.)
Interesting but trying to watch this on my phone, have it turned up so much to try and hear but when the ads come on it just about blasts out the speakers.
At 58, she looked much older ...70s...Overweight, obese too... Just wondering if there was an attempt to get her to lose weight. ..or was being heavy looked at as ok for upper class in those days???
No, they knew being that overweight was unhealthy even in those days. She used to eat far too quickly as well, and had digestive problems as a result. Her doctors did keep telling her not to eat too much or too quick, but like many patients she didn't listen.
@@lilymarinovic1644 She didn't listen because she was THE QUEEN! She was a bit stubborn. And, I think she was emotional eating. She was human, afterall.
