NOTES: - 8:57 - I say 14th on the G, when it is meant to be on the 13th fret. The subtitles have the correct fret listed. - 21:00 - I missed a few notes out of the explanation of the solo, If you need any help, I'll be more than happy to clear things up! I’m still new to lessons so please excuse any mistakes, Let me know if you spot any so I can make corrections. I hope you enjoy :) If you're here for the tone breakdown, it's right here at the end! 33:25

As this was my fastest video to reach 100 views, I've made the effort to write out correct captions/subtitles for the full 35 minute tutorial in attempt to make the channel as accessible as possible. Please let me know if captions were helpful in any way as it'll impact my decision to do the same for future videos, as well as my backlog of content! Stay safe, DG.

Thanks for taking the time to create these videos. I bought the “official” tab book for the album. I don’t think some of the sections in the book version are correct. I’m trying to blend what’s in the book with the way you perform the songs on this album in hopes of coming up with a version that works for me. Keep up the good work!

synth Huge fan! Best gigs I’ve been to are QOTSA at Finsbury Park and NIN at Mad Cool Festival. I’ve got a tattoo of the backwards N, with the Jack White 3 built into it, song for the deaf trident going through it and Dave Grohl feathers at the side of it. It’s on my wrist you can sometimes see it :) and yes that’s a hard one, I’ve been working on it, it will take some time but that cover is definitely coming. I want to do both guitars and bass so will be a lot of work figuring it all out

@@dgguitars4091 It helped a lot working out some of the longer fills in the verse. Haven't started the solo yet but I will for sure. I'm not sure if you made a mistake for the fill after the pickup change because you say 14 on the g string but it looks like you're playing 13, I might be wrong though. @@dgguitars4091 You are misunderstanding me. Music theory is like math. For example, lets say you make $15 a hour eight hours a day five days a week. You can find the same answer using both methods: 1) 15+15+15+15+15…. etc. 2) or, 5 (15 x 8) . Both will give the same answer as to how much money you made in a week, one is just much more efficient. Your videos is the equivalent of adding 15 over and over instead of using multiplication. I didn’t watch the whole video, but I could easily chop it in half at least by making one simple adjustment. First, teach the main patterns all in a row (octave riff, the high fret chromatic chord riff, etc.) , then teach the riffs by presenting a scale that includes all the notes he uses. Perhaps play all the variations in a row but once someone knows the scale you don’t have to teach every lick note for note. In fact, one can begin to improvise different notes than the record, as Josh improvised the notes as well. See what I mean?

@dgguitars4091 Год назад
@@jamiehovis7722 I haven’t misunderstood you, I understand your point of using music theory to explain the basics, however just teaching about improvising would defeat the point of the video as it is note for note, I’m very detailed in when to use vibrato and certain techniques in certain parts exactly like the recorded song, this is for people who want to play the song accurately, not for improv. If you watch the full tutorial, I’m assuming you didn’t get very far, I do teach certain patterns once and then explain when to repeat it, such as the chorus or the main riff. The little solo parts are mostly all unique and so there is a lot to explain, especially to people who don’t know music theory inside and out. Cheers!
@jamiehovis7722
@jamiehovis7722 Год назад
@@dgguitars4091 its all very non rock and roll is all. part of the spirit of rock and roll is spontaneity, not laboring over something note for note. maybe if its your first few songs, but I would also teach with the assumption people know theory fundamentals. If they don’t, they almost certainly aren’t at the level of playing songs like these accurately anyway. Queens is based on blues, and part of the spirit of blues is improvisation which carries onto its brother genre rock and roll. If you’re performing this song for people and play it note for note, you’re missing the point. Being on the peripheral of creation is part of the excitement that is essential to this kind of frankly otherwise simple music. it doesnt matter if you use vibrato on the first or forth note. It’s about learning the patterns and ideas behind the song and making it interesting for yourself else the song will fall flat on listeners.
