Let me say this about the Shelly situation. This is what made sense to ME....Shelly and Sha'Carri went through the wrong gate the day before and tried to do it again the next day but the security was enforced with a NO. That is why there wasn't more of a fight from the USA and Jamaican Administrations. She then tweaked her hamstring trying to rush her warmup and rather than take a chance to further hurt herself she pulled out...plain and simple. That lack of a proper warmup is probably why Sha'Carri wasn't even competitive in the final (competitive with Alfred that is). As for Shericka.....She had an injury coming into the season and even then the Olympic camp and tried to make a go of it. The body just wouldn't cooperate because she's not a machine and you can't cheat the steps. She's been running consistently for THREE straight years and the body said...ENOUGH!! They might have skipped the 100 hoping that a few more days off will get her right for a 200 that was not as competitive (a medal was almost guaranteed even if she was not at her best in the 200 but not so for the 100). Jamaican fans think they have the "right" to know everything but we really don't because it the big scheme of things...Jamaica is where they earn the least amount of $$$. They also might not be saying anything because certain truths are not ready to be aired and so they're taking their time. They deserve the benefit of any doubt from us because they have already given so much. These are two of the greatest sprinters (two of but not the only two) Jamaica has ever produced so lets give them some grace. We're here demanding an explanation only because we're mad we don't have an answer and because we were "depending" on a few more Olympic medals from them, but what they've already given is more than enough.
I dont think its about the right to know.I think its natural for fans who support these athletes to wonder what when wrong in Paris.I think there was a build up of expectation from the fans from National Trials and right at the very last minute before their races in Paris Shelly and Shericka suddenly pulled out.I dont think its unreasonable for the fans be a bit perplexed with that. With Shericka fans are still miffed as they were led to believe by Coach Francis that she was fit and ready to go when her team knew that that wasnt the case all along. The fans just feel lied to.
Well said. At the end of the day the athletes must do what is best for them and the only one who they need to give an answer to is their sponsors, not the ungrateful demanding critical Jamaican fans.
@@marciaburtongordon5028 Disagree with what? That fans who support these athletes should cheer them on when they are competing but when they are scheduled to compete in a major global championship like the Olympics and pull out minutes before their events the fans are not to be perplexed and wonder what is going on?
All I know is that this season has served to remind me of the enormous impact the US / Jamaican rivalry has had on the short races over the last several years. This season's female sprint races have been boring, flat and uninspiring. Congratulations to both Julien and Gabby for getting the gold at Paris but those victories just didn't hit the same as they would have if any of the Big 3 had been among the competitors. Even Sha'carri looked about half way unmotivated in the 100 which leaves me wondering if Shelly not being in the line up doused her fire a bit. And the remainder of the season has been about Julien vs Sha'carri and I feel like big deal, who cares?
I find it strange that neither Shelly Ann nor Shericka Jackson has posted on their instagram since July. I see only post from sponsors like digicel. The sudden withdrawl from events in Paris, and the silence have people speculating and thinking the worse.
It's interesting how Jamaican athletes are so reluctant to disclose injuries. Is it a "culture" thing? A fear of sponsor's reactions? If it were a US athlete we might get a whole vlog series following and detailing the surgeries and recovery process. Regular updates at the very least in many cases.

It would be nice to hear their side of the story but sometimes we'll not get the closure we're looking for or think we deserve. That's life. We should know when to move on.
First of all, there is no should have one. Nothing is guaranteed for any athlete. Second of all, we need to be way more supportive, especially when we don’t have all information... How about we send love support and well wishes until we hear what is really happening for her l, often we behave as if we go through any pain and suffering to perform at the elite level that she does!!!. There are no sacrifices that we’re making for her. But we are thankless when she doesn’t perform perhaps injured and hurt,, there’s no sympathy. It’s amazing that these athletes even run and represent Jamaica, in the first place. Sometimes as Jamaicans , we can be some of the most ungrateful fans😩😡 peace
The reason I believe why Shericka Jackson nor her team hasn't come out and said anything is because they were filming season 2 of the Netflix series "Sprint" during the Olympics. I'm sure producers have convinced Shericka and her team to keep hush while counting on track fans tune in to hear her side of the story, in similar fashion to when she suffered a loss last year to Sha'carri at the World Championships.
Do you think it is fear for Jamaica to have coach that is sponsored by overseas companies? Somebody please tell me if that should not be a comp of interest because they will sabotage Jamaica for the sponsors.
Is anyone looking at the scary elephant in the room? or is it just me who's thinking that the "big three" could've been jab-injured, maybe a sinister plan to get them off the scene. Blessings!
