I was the video editor on this gig and I can tell you it was a blast go through the raw footage and see the making of the album. Mark DeGarmo was the director/producer and he deserves the full credit for the way it turned out. Not only did he shoot/direct and produce the video but he directed the offline edit and online finish as well. There was many hours of classic footage and clips that had to be left out for time and content. It is hard to grasp how many hours and sweat it takes to write and produce an epic album like this.

Really? That's cool! It was once mentioned that Scott's brother was the one who shot the footage. Maybe that info was incorrect, or I'm confusing something? :)

It was Mark DeGarmo, brother of Chris DeGarmo who directed, produced and shot the video. The little bit of the intro of Geoff keyed over the footage is a bit of mystery because I did not edit that portion of the video. I was invited to the island to meet the band and hang for a little bit. I did use some of Michael's guitar synth music that he was noodling around on camera. A lot of the music came right off the Betacam tapes that was recored live. I believe all of the locations were shot on that island they were recording on. It was an honor to work on the project. Those guys had a great work ethic and those funny bits are totally real. You can't make that stuff up. There were some real Spinal Tap moments for sure.

Wow. Would love to see the additional footage. This video is great, but 20 minutes just doesn't seem like enough. :)

I bought the CD-ROM in 96 and come back to it from time to time here on RU-vid. What always gets me is the time and effort they put into what seems to be "videos" for Damaged and Promised Land. I would love to see the whole video for each song, along with any (if not all) the raw footage shot during the recording of the album. That is something the band should look into as a kickstarter...and I would be more than happy to contribute.

This band created their own genre with each album release. This album is no exception - and it has no peers, no successors. It is stand-alone and the peak. One could surmise they outdid themselves. Mindcrime was a story, a movie you could sit back and watch the characters develop while they interacted with themselves, their destinys and their tragedies. Promised Land enters you - you host it. It invades and explores you, and you allow it. You wonder, while listening, how it knows so much about you - and you are compliant while watching it dig even deeper. Reaching the darkest places. A certain unease crops up here and there, usually between songs, but then you feel safe to allow the next journey. Is music supposed to make you feel this vulnerable one minute, and then this cleansed the next? Each time you listen, it seems to know more about you. A point exists where it stops learning you and begins showing you, and you realize that a relationship now exists. This is a tool with which you can purge 'life' and be re-born to a certain extent. It will cancel your failures, herald your achievements, and allow you to go forth the next day knowing that nothing can be worse than what was revealed, and nothing will be better. It just will be, and it is your duty to live it. We miss and love you Chris.

I was at QUEENSRYCHES first show. In Portland Oregon. Nobody was a bigger fan than me. When Chris left it was amazing how it just all stopped. My entire teens and early 20s was QUEENSRYCHE.

I remember when Empire came out in 90 I think and everyone who was a serious music lover had it. But as 94 rolled around and promised land came out I do remember it being a bit of a shock as to how different it was. It took alot of time to get used to but It ended up being one of my favourites.

Never saw this before. Thanks 4 putting it out there. Dazzling album. Spectacular conclusion to the best streak I think any rock band has had, from the '83 EP through this album in 94 they just kicked so much ass. Creative geniuses.

Its so terrible how these guys treated 1 another in the breakup. Everyone of them is responsible for it regardless who we side with... its so sad something that not only was a MASSIVE part of my early life n probably yours too, but my toughts of a band that were truly brothers.. all for 1 n 1 for all type of band and to see it all end like that sucked... like a parent's devorce, and were caught in the middle, only forced to decide which of the 2 am i gonna end up with and which 1 am gonna feel im forced not really liking anymore... how does 1 turn their love to some kinda hate so to speak.. for lack of a better term, and who am i gonna point the finger at and blame? I understand that people change, things they enjoy change.. everything changes.. ok i get that but dam did it reall have to go down that way? Maybe.. but we all know.. we that are of some age can tell you in the end what level of regret are we gonna have to face? I can GUARANTEE YOU each one of them will feel so sorry inside.. when all the anger n bitterness subsides really what were left with is crushing regret.. and its sad. Us as men will hold something in for life.. thats just how were built i guess.. and normally the bigger the hurt the lessor we are to ever deal with it outwardly, with anyone... ever.. we'll take it to our grave. Theres no winners here.... but thank God for what they did give us as the 1 and only original QUEENSRYCHE.

Chris did nothing wrong. He knew it was over. That should have ended Queensryche, period. The band should have stopped then and there, ending it all with dignity. It would have prevented the embarassing cabaret b.s. the power grab and toxicity that ensued once Geoff went egomaniacal on the band and fans alike. There's NO excuse for his lashing out the way he did--all preventable. Really says a lot as to what the business can do to art and those who create it. Glad they had their time but all good things inevitably end. Just wish Queensryche had ended right rather than dragging it all out for 2+ decades of cringe, embarrassment and downright ugliness.

Good thing that Queensryche still has one of their main songwriters in the band (Wilton) and they're coming out with their best albums since Mindcrime. Loved DeGarmo and Geoff had a great voice, but notice that the more Wilton was not contributing to the writing of the songs, the more the quality and heaviness of the albums deteriorated. That wasn't a coincidence. Glad they've been back on track for well over a decade now.

The primary loss of Chris deGarmo, was the initial loss of chemistry, that the band never recovered from. The loss of his input meant that the fundamental line up became totally disjointed. It wasn`t any of the remaining guys faults, but was just too big a loss to recover from.

Maybe 10 years ago I purchased a unpaid storage locker that belonged to a company called Media X out of Santa Cruz Ca. This locker contained a bunch of stuff but most importantly it contained all the stuf it took to Crete this video game. Eventually I sold the majority of this stuff to a mega fan but kept 6 or 7 8mm video tapes of interviews and green screen footage. Some really goofy stuff. Hours and hours of behind the scenes footage and much of it was used in the game as master footage. These are the original tapes and have been I viewed since the making of this game. If anyone’s interested email me at rotopix at gmail

So anyone else catch how they said Geoff Tate slept in his own cabin away from the other members and about 500 yards away from the studio and was able to recorded from there to the studio whenever he felt like it from this same cabin completely separate from everyone else in thw band? Seriously?! Love Geoff's vocals but that some self centered ego BS!
