Elizabeth goes cruising again visited The National Palace of Queluz in November of 2017. Queluz Palace is located 16KM. from the centre of Lisbon and easily reached by train from Rossio station. This stunning palace has numerous lakes waterfalls and fountains and really worth a visit. If you are interested in independent travel from cruise ports there is some good information

The 98 statues outside are English sculptor John Cheere works. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Cheere

Thanks for the information on the statues. The palace must have been magnificent in its heyday, no wonder they call Queluz the Portuguese Versailles. We are visiting Oporto this July should be interesting.
