The Yilgarn Craton of Western Australia is one of the key pieces of the Archean puzzle and one of Australia’s most important mineral provinces (e.g. orogenic Au, komatiite-hosted Ni, hard-rock Li).
This week on geohug, Quentin Masurel from The University of Western Australia will share with us some insights from Yilgarn 2020, a 3-year long collaborative research project that aimed at enhancing our ability to predict the distribution of mineralised camps. Quentin will explore the links between tectonics and metallogeny during the late Meso- to Neoarchean evolution of the Yilgarn Craton. “Spoiler alert: Plume, Subduction, and more” join us to find out what’s new to the story!
