He is not trolling, he just says what it is all about. It's an bloody entertainment experience. People should stop reading into everything like they are some kind of social scientist. Even the "social sciences" at colleges in America read too much into everything it becomes as joke.
He is talking on his language, on trash language. His "works" only from trash, dirty. This is not a culture. She is right, but he can not say anything valuabale, so pitty to see how dark is inside. His speech with her so rude, pride
The standards which much lower back then. Mortal Combat on the SNES was the game that brought forth the rating system for video games even though it’s laughably tame
Karen's are making a biggggg mistake bashing him for violence. The dude makes diverse characters that not only are empowering, but completely and utterly badass.
@@CarterOwenBM248Vlogs I think you mean the far right? They've been scapegoating violence in movies, videogames and comics since the mediums existed. They blamed superman for riots and violence GOD DAMN SUPERMAN and tried to show he was communist propaganda!
"What do you get when you cross a brilliant movie-afficionado auteur with an interviewer who mistakes movie violence with real life violence? I'll tell you what you get..."
"and look how well you turned out" Yeah... a world-renowned director & multi-millionaire who has a foot fetish and successfully managed to find a job that allows him to work with celebrities' feet.
@@chriswendi3825 Yes, but that's not the only foot thing in his movies. Every one of of his films (I believe) has a shot of bare feet in it at some point, but Kill Bill definitely has several.
this , i actually like , my favorite show in france had two critics , and every "artist" went there knowing the rules , they can be very harsh but they give their honest opinion , the difference is , they are brillant , this old lady is clearly a narrow-minded idiot
i mean it's boring that every Artist only go on tv to sell their piece and everybody laugh and smile , Gotta have critics otherwise people wont trust anything
@@dorian4426 Well I see ur point. Girls don't have to be calm and cute and guys violent and angry. But it is also true that calm and cute are more inherently feminine traits while aggression is a masculine trait. So they just feel more natural on their respective genders.
@@gameformation2100 Hmmm... Isn't that just putting stamps on people? Wouldn't that be just putting calm and cute stamp on women and angry and violent stamp on men?
I watched movies like his since I was 12 and I never once had an idea of doing things like that in real life, I was taught the difference between film and reality.
I think people don't give kids/teenagers enough credit when it comes to this. Seems to be slowly changing as Gen X and older Millennials are becoming parents because they themselves grew up with these movies and video games and know that their kid is intelligent enough to tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Whereas, the parents of us kids who grew up in the 80s and 90s were born in the era of Leave it to Beaver on their B&W television, and didn't begin to experience violent media until they were adults. Probably had never experienced violent films in the style of Tarantino, or anything like it. Closest thing I can think of would be A Clockwork Orange, but even that is relatively tame compared to some of Tarantino's stuff. So I guess they have no frame of reference and just assume kids can't tell the difference.
She was trying to hook him on the "movie violence = IRL violence" wich has been discussed since the begining of cinema. There's no link to support it. Same with games unless there's a already disturbed person. Hell even the Joker movie got police to watch the area around cinemas because media told something bad would happen but nothing bad happened, no mass shooting or anything else.
“So you’re saying that the reason you’re not doing the job that I’m… paying you to do is, that you don’t have a job to do? What’re you trying to convince me of exactly, that you’re as useless as an asshole right here **points to elbow* well guess what buddy. I think, you just fucking convinced me”
"and look how you turned out!" Are you saying he didn't turn out well? He's an extremely successful director and artist. I'd say he turned out pretty well.
I think what she wanted to say with that is how he turned out making violent movies himself, or she just didn't know what else to say because Quentin was "shutting her bu*t down" :))
@@IleSpasev imagine trying to use that as an argument “IF YOU LET CHILDREN WATCH VIOLENT MOVIES, THEY’LL BECOME EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL DIRECTORS WHO MAKE VIOLENT MOVIES!”
@@InsanityContainmentz Well she doesn't suspect his success, she in fact said that he is doing well, but she suspects his morality and his uses of cinema in an unmoral way. Either way, she doesn't know what she's talking about all around and she is obviously jealous of his success.
@@IleSpasev she thinks Quentin Tarantino is using cinema in an unmoral way? I’d like to see how she’d react if she had an interview with Lars Von Trier or Tom Six!
The one thing that I adore about this man is that no matter how many times people try to butt in or speak over him, he doesn't break his speech and continues with confidence. They always give up trying to interrupt him lol, I need to take a leaf out of his book!
A debate or conversation shouldn't include interruption, both parties need an alotted time to speak. No matter what her opinion is, this issue alone makes her a horrible interviewer.
Eh, often "interviews" aren't actually interviews. More like a series of loaded questions with an insultingly blunt agenda. Much in the same way "interviewers" that conduct in that manner aren't really interviewers. More like interrogators but without any charm, meaningful purpose or really cool torture devices. In other words, media shills or just straight up inconsiderate buffoons.
Now imagine she found him on the road after a car accident and brought him home and locked him in her basement forcing him to come up with a screenplay of a film without any violence in it. Damn, this could be a good idea for a novel.
I wish people wouldn't bring money into this. Yes, he's turned out great but not because he made his wealth, but because he's probably this generation's most prolific filmmaker having inspired other geniuses like Bong Joon Ho, and he gets to live his passion of cinema and share it with the entire world.
@@CosmicTeapot I honestly agree. From a statistic standpoint: he turned out to be a billionaire but I do agree money doesnt decide weither you turned out "good" or not. He turned out good because of his love for filmmaking and telling a story that means something to people. He is committed to creating art that starts conversations about how the world handles things and gets people talking and THAT is the victory. So yeah I agree lmao
Love how she says at the end "He thinks kids should see this" but he clearly said in the beginning "Its an R rated movie, if the parents will go take them to see it, they will have a blast from 12 up"
I watched Kill Bill in 2003 when I was 13, and everything he is saying is 100% true. The wait for Vol 2 that year was amazing - probably the first sequel I consciously and truly cared about
Why can't they have fun like Quentin Tarantino? Why can't they accecpt that fictional things are fictional and the people involved in the work are actors who are paid to entertain and do not necessarily reflect the actions they perform?
Mayo Chan You don't think they do? Of course it's hard to know exactly what kind of people you are talking about, since SJW is kind of a pejorative term, but I don't think being able to enjoy all kinds of art and fiction is in any way in contradiction with being for "social justice", as you call it. I for example personally consider myself a liberal and something of a feminist, but I've yet to encounter any movie that I thought was "unacceptable" - and trust me I've seen some pretty fucked up films that really push the envelope in terms of what can or can't be shown in a film.
Mayo Chan Quentin is the King of social justice warriors. While the rest of us are stuck making memes or going to demos, Tarantino has put equality and social justice in some of the most popular movies in existance, thus stealthily infecting the minds of even the most red-blooded Americans. Seriously, we haven't had this kind of a break since the flouridation of drinking water (since counteracted with lead by meddling conservatives).
Heh, he's so great. It's totally true, revenge is one of the classic motifs in literature, and it's always with men. Men get to have all sorts of gruesome vengeance all the time in movies. Women don't get jack. Even the goddess Aphrodite got denied her revenge against Odysseus, even though he enabled the slaughter of an entire city.
"There's no soul in it"?? Is this betch serious? That must be why Quentin is a revered filmmaker by his peers, legions of fans and critics, the film academy, and anyone else who loves film. Maybe by "soul," she meant "donuts." There are no donuts in this film. That's true. That would explain why she doesn't care to see it.
Yea she's just hung up on the violence and focusing entirely on that. If you watch it without a chip on your shoulder there is a hell of a lot of soul. A tale about love, betrayal, parenthood, tradition, and morality. Not to mention some kick ass sword play.
No. He reason why Tarantino is famous is because he a leftist engaged in destroying western values and society through his films and in so doing he serves the establishment.I’m afraid you’re the one who didn’t get it honey; this woman’s 100%spot on
I never understood why artists who are attacked on these shows with these weak, cliche cultural criticism aren't more unapologetic. Saying "yeah, I want children to see violent movies, who cares?" was the perfect way to disarm this woman, she quickly ran out of things to say
She wasn't even listening, just waiting for her turn to speak. She had no intent of learning anything new, only to push her own flawed opinions on him. Edit: Should've worded that differently, she did not wait her turn to speak.
I love this and how well it mirrors the current socio-political climate. This poor Jan woman has absolutely *NO* concept of fiction vs reality. To her, movies are real. TV is real. She doesn't comprehend the difference. That's why she immediately turns it around to hoping Tarantino is physically attacked in the street. It's why she remarks, "and look how well you turned out," like she honestly has mistaken him for some kind murderer. And here he is, a law abiding citizen, that made himself a success, and is thriving, and she's trying to take low blows at him like he is one of his characters brought to life and a murdering psychopath. It's really impressive when you think about it. And she's so busy being smug and feeling morally superior, that she doesn't even realize that he's the better person here, and she's so low in morality that she would wish harm on him because she doesn't like what's in his make believe movie. It's a damn shame the nutballs like her have almost completely overtaken California. What a miserable state to be in.
I actually saw Kill Bill when I was 12 alongside the release of Zombieland. It was so cool! I'm a pretty cool guy, I'd like to think. Not committing any heinous acts, but It's empowered me through providing stunning visuals all the way through, and that animated scene was also amazing too! I fell in even deeper love with animation because of Kill Bill. People like this woman are overly concerned and don't sit through and properly talk about their perspectives in an intellectually open manner.
Im a 13 year old and pulp fiction is my avec of all time. I know the difference between real and fictional violence, Tarantino is an amazing writer/director!
Dude my parents let me and my sister watch Kill Bill vol 1 and 2 before I was even 12. I was even younger when they showed me blade 2. The result of all this, I like watching movies now.
I remember watching Kill Bill when I was 7 or 8. I LOVED IT. I remember how cool it was. However, back in the days, I never knew the name of the movie. I remember while growing up thinking about parts of the movie. Then when I was 17 I found it! I was so happy! Total bad ass. I think ima dress up as the bride for Halloween.
I never seen kill bill (I desperately want to) but I do agree that if my parents took me to see that movie at twelve I’d enjoy it because curse words and violence actually is okay with me
Kill Bill 1 and 2 are some of the best films I've ever seen - I always think the hallmark of a great movie is when you look at a clock at the start of the movie then you find yourself looking at it at the end and thinking "wow, that felt like 10 mins" when 2 hours have passed.
