Even movies that boast about using practical effects are heavily "enhanced" with CG crap. Shit just looks way too clean and shiny nowadays. Gone are the days of grit, slime and gore. Craig Zahler and Quentin Tarantino are seemingly the only modern day filmmakers who HATE digital effects.
@Syklonus
@Syklonus 5 лет назад
You see CGI all the time and don't even notice it. There's no CGI boogy man, and it's not worse than practical. It's a tool just like anything else, and like any tool it can be used or misused, and only the bad stuff is noticeable. There's plenty of great a CGI out there and plenty of practical work that is utter dogshit. I used to work in the VFX industry in the 80s so take it from me - CGI has done more good than bad for the industry.

CGI is not the problem, its what they do with it.
@goodal01
@goodal01 5 лет назад
No, it is a problem. It makes film-makers lazy. They don't have to think on their feet anymore. CGI also means that film-makers don't have to concentrate too much on screenwriting or characterization because they know that audiences love computer images. When used minimally, such as in the original Jurassic Park, or mixed with miniatures and sleight of hand (the Lord of the Rings trilogy), it's great. Other than that, it's an irritation.
@Sam-lm8gi
@Sam-lm8gi 5 лет назад
CGI is the problem. Period. There's always a practical solution, and even the "crappy" practical effects are more entertaining than some lifeless, soulless, uncanny valley CGI bullshit.
@Talisman09
@Talisman09 5 лет назад
No. Good CGI (which is rare) doesn't take away from a film in the slightest. It is rarely good. Even when they get the still shot appearance of it bang on, they usually mess up the movement and it ends up unworthy. Starship troopers had good CGI for the time it came out and the film is crammed with it
@Duhya
@Duhya 5 лет назад
You only hate CG because when it's done right you don't even realise it was done at all. CG doesn't have to be a fully computer rendered battle scene like Star Wars. It doesn't have to be actors walking around on a greenscreen like Star Wars prequels. It doesn't have to be fully computer generated characters like Star Wars. It's not that rare, you just don't notice it.

CGI has ruined film, like superhero movies use wayyyy too much. Especially avengers, it's ridiculous, and how anyone can watch it and rave over how good it is, it's beyond me. It takes away from any real acting bc it can be edited, or doctored in such a way that the performance is no longer linear, and the art form of the performance is consequently diminished and diluted to the point beyond anything remotely believable

I didn't know about him quitting school. It makes sense though. He has possibly the highest IQ in Hollywood, I'm talking way beyond genius level. People say nonsense to people with perhaps unconventional ways of looking at things (yours truly) like, Go back to school. School takes in bright, curious, animated kids of around five and in a decade turns them into bored, listless, braindead teenagers. Everybody who is genuinely anything seems to have had less than stellar school careers, even to have been written off as functional illiterates: Churchill, Ali, Richard Branson, Albert Einstein, to name a few. I heard the other day that Ed Sheeran failed in music at college. People like Henry Ford, Rockerfeller and Andrew Carnegie never saw a classroom past about their twelfth or thirteenth year. Yet with a few others virtually single - handed (to be more accurate, single-minded) they built the American Supereconomy. These are the kind of men, not politicians, who turned a backward former British colony into the superpower it is today.

So how does someone who drops out of school at 15 get into the movie industry. I left school at 15(everybody did who wasn't going into 4th form), I'm 70 now and I have never even met anybody in the film industry, EVER!
