Kill Bill officially recut and complete with the missing scenes from the script would be a very different experience compared to just watching both volumes back to back. I still remember being devastated after the decision to split the movie up, because the leaked screenplay was a breathtaking read. It is insane to me that there is still no official release of the Japanese versions in HD.
I don't understand how Kevin takes scenes from a movie that dictates many of his rankings, when you have to take a movie as a whole... Also Kevin needs to let others finish their thought before interrupting (just sayin')
I just finished listening to the very recent conversation with QT & Roger Avery and figured I'd play thru with at least part of this episode. Interesting perspectives so far. I don't usually pay too much attention to box office $ details or opening weekend stats, at least in the present, but I'll say this last year has definitely been a turn for the better and possibly a favorite year for mainstream/commercial releases. 2019 was by far my favorite year for film in recent memory but 2022 has been fairly undeniable as well. Especially for the more widely targeted mass appeal movies, which normally leave me annoyed and frustrated... but when there's actually uniquely authentic work of quality being done, ya can't help but applaud it and give the recognition they deserve. The Batman, Top Gun Maverick, Nope, etc.
Full metal jacket is exactly 1hr 52min long. The entire basic training part of the film is exactly 45min. So yea that is basically half the film. Wheres this guy get 20min?
I would have to argue that Full Metal Jacket doesn't work for me because it changes the tone so suddenly and it no longer holds my attention after they leave the camp.
Reservoir Dogs: A Pulp Fiction: Masterpiece Jackie Brown: D Kill Bill 1: B Kill Bill 2: A Death Proof: Never watched it Inglorious: E Django: C Hateful 8: C Hollywood: F - Bruce Lee handled insultingly badly
Use of music in Pulp Fiction that you haven't seen in a long time? You guys are really gonna discredit Martin Scorsese and the fact that he's been doing it for two decades.
