i take my hat off to him for getting that much air off the sand and not the spring board mats which gymnists usually have the luxury of using. capoeira nowadays is really only another form of self expression used during native celebrations that is rarely done solo when performed properly. there is usually always someone else "sparring" with them which shows its true origins as a form of martial arts IE:fighting IE:taking a punch.
This guy is amazing, but if you study traditional capoeira, the movements are closer to the ground and with less jumping, but extremely confusing. They seem to come from everywhere at once.
the point of my hype is queque and people like him have no access to resources like gymnasts in the west. it is his DREAM to do gymnastics, these guys have so little but the place is crawling with talent. even then queque is among the best on the beaches of salvador. u need to see my latest vid btw - NARCELIO.
he's much better than lateef in my opinion. simply compare their reel. but look at quque power and teh speed of his flicks. the cleaneness of his execution this boy is a phenonomon
o que vc quer não é uma arte, é uma arte marcial. Então que que vc tá criticando algo que não conhece? Capoeira é jogo sim, é acrobacia, e luta violenta (só que já trocou porrada em roda é que sabe. E posso dizer, pq conheço outras artes muito mais eficientes.
It's also no reason to assume that he can't really fight. Martial arts are not only proven by "REAL" fighting. Read my comment at the bottom, where I talk about traditional capoeira being mostly ground techniques, but there are still flashy moves just like in every martial art.
All I can say is that 99% of this video is gimnastics, and NOT capoeira. If he can or cannot play Capoeira, it is impossible to know from this video, just as it is impossible to know if someone is good at soccer by seeing he play basketball.
na capoeira tem luta, tem jogo duro, tem danca, tem cultura, mas, a coisa mais importante...tem evolucao. vcs podem falar uma coisa sobre ela hoe, amanha ja tem mudado. olhe a capoeira dessa altura, como foi a chamada, hoje ja e diferente, e nao eh so isso...
o objectivo de um capoeirista deve ser: ser complete. quer dizer ser mesmo atleta, lutador, musico, pesquisador, cantador, saber enfeitar o jogo, estar pronto para um jogo duro se for necessario, respeitar a cultura e fazer sua propria parte nela.
pessoal pq essa briga sobre o que a capoeira e? a capoeira e capaz de uniar muitas artes e lutas em si, incorporar-las. a verdadeira coisa importante na luta nao e forca, e surpresa... quem consegue surpresar seu adversario tem a posibilidade de vencer... a force e coise que se pode treinar, tambem a tecnica, mas so com a surpresa vcs podem verdadeiramente vencer, a forca e tecinca ajudam conseguir isso...
