Well done. My wife and I were together 32 years, 3 children. I had a reason to divorce, about our 3rd year. I caught her red handed with another man in our home, clothing coming off. No argument what was going to happen, plain as the nose on your face. We, with the help of God, worked through it, and all the problems common to a marriage. She passed away a year ago. I do not see another woman in my life. Till death do us part, I'm only half way there, my other half is with the Lord. When I die, I will be as she is. for in Heaven they neither marry or are given in marriage. When I die our marriage ends. She was the best gift God ever gave me

The woman you married was already divorced so unless her first husband was dead your marriage to her was never lawful so yes you can repent of that situation and marry again as she was never your wife to begin with.

I was very lost fresh out of leaving my foster home at age 18. I had no guidance, parents, anyone that loved me. Alcoholic. Married an older man just as lost and hurt as I was. He was a meth, pill and alcohol user. He abused me heavily. Wouldn't let me leave. I got pregnant. Married. More abuse. He wouldn't work. Just got high and lied. I had to work and put my child in daycare while he ran around. I finally left. Spirit broken. Of course, my life was cursed. Next few years was horrible hell. I was a very rebellious, broken, violent, adulterous woman. I didnt know God, nor did I believe in Him. In and out of jail. I was placed next door to a Holy Spirit filled lady. She prayed for my boyfriend and I. We were set free by the power of Jesus Christ 6 months later. We were still in bondage. Still rebellious but He was chastising us. I got pregnant. I had already given one child up for adoption. My boyfriend was dangerous. That was the deepest point of repentance I ever reached. I truly repented and cried out to Abba. He answered my prayer. He put my boyfriend in jail for a few months thus he finally got sober for the first time since he was 11. I was safe and he provided for me. I continued in seeking Him and repentence. He did such a deep work in us both. Boyfriend got out of jail. I depended solely on prayer. I witnessed abba protecting, providing, rejoicing. We had nothing. He provided us everything and made it clear he did. I had been trying to get a divorce for years and it never would happen. I got a divorce in three weeks. And we got married and truly it was all provided by Abba. It was glorious. He blessed us. Because we believed and repented. We received several deliverances. Many spirits many many were cast from us. Now, we know peace for the first time ever. We are 34 and 32. We are truly blessed and walk in truth before the Father. Jesus set us free.

Well, I listened to your answer to the question and frankly, there are lots of contradictions in your answers. I will just mention one, you said that the divorced man is free to marry a virgin, but its clearly written in 1st Corinth 7:10-11, a divorced spouse should remain unmarried or be reconciled. How can they be reconciled if the man can remarry a virgin? That's only possible if the wife be dead. Secondly, Apostle Paul never gave a permission to remarry in case of abandonment as you said in verse 14 of the same book. If that were the case, he he would not have said in verse 39 that the woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives, but if she dies, she is free to marry whosoever she wishes only in the Lord. If indeed, Apostle Paul gave another reason for remarriage, he would be contradicting Jesus Christ in Matt. 5:32. May the Spirit of God give us correct insight into the true meaning of his word.
@ryandionisio4137

Correct, and how often they can remarry? He is wrong, when the bible said virgin, it’s never been married nor had sexual relationship. Once the other party commits adultery then they are free to remarry.

The Lord command (1 Cor 7 : 11) only to all married women, said : If a wife is divorce let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. Its not to married men. Jesus said to all married men (Matthew 5 : 32, 19 : 9) .......except for sex immorality (wife commited sex to another man) her husband can divorce her bcz she has been defiled. And as a man, he allows to remarry but marry a virgin (neverbeenmarried) A husband can remarry after he divorced his unfaithful wife. A wife can remarry after her unfaithful/abusive husband died
@kickpublishing
@kickpublishing 3 года назад
Has your divorced wife remained chaste waiting for your return? If so be reconciled. If not she has committed adultery and you are free to remarry. Remember this was written in an age when adulterers were stoned to death so women would remain waiting for a. Husband to return. Now hardly anybody does so we’re in an adulterous situation most of the time.

I am sorry sir but you used an incorrect example of how God is a divorcee. God did not divorce Israel because His original plan was to save entire mankind and Israel was his vessel. He never divorced Israel because he still wants the Jewish people to come to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I enjoy your teachings but this divorcee example with God was way off with all due respect sir.

Actually the text says That whosoever looketh on a γυνή to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. γυνή is translated woman 129 times and wife 92 times. Translating γυνή as woman in Mat 5:28 is not accurate, since it is referring to a specific type of woman i.e. a a married one i.e. wife. Looking at someone else wife and lusting is committing adultery because the law says thou shalt not covet, so lusting after someone else wife is coveting her. That is what Jesus is teaching.

What I’m hearing is that if you are too weak to control your lustful desires, that it’s better to follow Moses and Paul rather than do God’s will? Is marriage only about the sex?? Whatever happened to bringing your weakness to God and asking Him for help? Ask yourself, are you truly repentant? Of course it is not easy and we will stumble. God’s design is holy. He loves us and I’m sure it grieves him to see us suffer. But he is not the author of our suffering - we are, by not living according to His will. So, yes, there are provisions and thankfully the greatest one is Jesus Christ! Think and bring all your concerns to Jesus before acting and wait for Him to speak to your heart. You will have shalom.

After a failed 19 year marriage that I ended after being betrayed I have chosen to give the rest of my days to finish raising my children (full time) and to giving glory to God and obeying his laws. I really don’t need another wife. My mother (RIP) told me long ago God would rather have you pray to him and do his will 24/7 but if not you should get married. At 52 that’s just what I want to focus on. Thank you again and God Bless. 🙏

Mike has a lot of good advice, but when he gets into 1 Cor. 7 in this video, he falls short. In verse 10-11 God clearly says a departed wife is to remain unmarried to leave the door open for reconciliation. Verse 39 clearly says a wife is free to remarry ONLY once her husband is dead. This teaching is in tune with the rest of the New Covenant, and there is nothing contradicting this. While it's not so strongly expressed toward men, the same teaching is 100% true for men. Divorce happens, but no where is that grounds for remarriage, except under Moses and stiff necked people. To allow an exception for remarriage, brings about many divorces. Statistics show that couples that stick it out through tough times will likely have a good marriage some day. The only way to face marriage is 'Till death do we part.'
@robertfrance6729
@robertfrance6729 5 лет назад
Mike must believe that the act of divorcing and remarriage for reasons other than porneia constitutes an act of adultery as opposed to a continual state of adultery. If it's an act, his interpretation of 1 Corinthians 7 makes sense. If it's a continual state, it can't; otherwise, there is a different kind of repentance needed here.

And the two people involved, although forgiven, experience great pain. It’s almost like a “hell”. So, it is best to stay together, because of the different effect it has on everyone. “Replacement Theology” is a lie (in response to his statement at 1:35). If you believe God has replaced His covenants with Israel with covenants with the Christian Church, you are calling God a liar. God doesn’t lie, He is unchangeable. All of His covenants stand, both with Israel, and with His Christian Bride. He is working out His plan with Israel to bring them to salvation. Revelations deals with the Jewish people in a final act to bring them to salvation.

The brother or the sister is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. 1 Corinthians 7:27-28 New International Version 27 Are you pledged to a woman? Do not seek to be released. Are you free from such a commitment? Do not look for a wife. 28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned; For real, what have you studied to be so dogmatic. There are circumstances that make one free from the commitment of marriage. One, adultery, and 2, if unbelieving spouse leaves.

Not only because of this but I have never felt free from the first. I have never enjoyed this marriage only because I wonder if I'm commiting adultery. @Cayuse2009
@Cayuse2009 4 года назад
So, I was married twice. I was a Christian and we never had sex before marriage. Both wives also claimed they were Christians. My first marriage was the first time for both of us. We had 2 sons and after about 6 years of marriage she became mentally ill and was diagnosed, Delusional, Paranoid and Schizophrenic. It wasn't her fault, it was in he genetics. She filed for divorce and despite her mental illness, the courts still gave her custody of the boys because she was a woman and gave her half of my assets, which included my family farm. My second marriage was the second time for both of us and she had 2 sons from 2 different fathers and she also claimed to be Christian. After 30 years of marriage, she filed for divorce after I had retired and she wanted my pension. The judge gave here all of my cash and 2/3's of my retirement savings. Close to $400,000 worth. Needless to say, with the Family court system strongly in favor of the female and all that is required to get divorced now a days is to say there are irreconcilable differences, it's no surprise that over 80% of divorces today are filed by women. It's also no surprise that the number of marriages in 2018 was the lowest since they started tracking marriages in the 1800's. As a result of what's happening now, something called MGTOW or Men Going Their Own Way is the new normal. Paul say's it's better to marry than to burn, but I say it is better to stay single then get burned by Family Court. Most of this mess is on the back of Feminists.

Noooo!!! You've added to Scripture! Yes Paul said to let an unbeliever leave the marriage bond/contract if they so wish. Absolutely. However he absolutely did NOT go on to permit remarriage. If I'm wrong olease shate the Scripture that shows this!!! This video is good in parts but very confused in others. You use the word fornication and adultery interchangably yet they are DIFFERENT words with different meanings hence both appear in the same sentence. You need to study the Jewish betrothal laws hence why this so called exception is only found in Matthew (written to the Jews). Hence why Joseph was going to "divorce" Mary for fornication. This video is VERY misleading
@Thomas116-m2n
@Thomas116-m2n 4 месяца назад
Fornication/Porneia both mean sexual immorality. Adultery is sexual intercourse; fornication/sexual immorality refers to various sexual sins committed by people, married or not. The Pharisees were asking about marriage, not betrothal. Jesus answered about marriage, not betrothal. As for Paul, he indicated that a believer could leave but not remarry after leaving an unbeliever. Then he said, "BUT" if the unbeliever leaves, the believer is not under bondage. The marriage covenant is dissolved. There was no need to say that one could marry again as it was already known that they could as it was on the divorce certificate in those days.

Ronda Kelly- your x sounds just like my first husband. But I was also a battered wife. He would stay gone for sometimes 3 days, leaving me and our baby home alone with no phone, car or money. When he got home, all I had to do was ask where he'd been for 3 days, and drunk, ( as usual) would start beating on me as if I was the one doing wrong. Come to find out, he was having an affair with someone who used to be a friend of mine, that he told me he hated. This affair started while I was pregnant and by the time our daughter was 2, I left. He kept asking if I was getting the divorce. So I started the proceedings. He married her the day after the divorce was final. 2 weeks later, she calls me, screaming and begging me to come and get her because he was chasing her down the road with his shotgun. ( prob the same one he beat me with the butt end of). I told her " you wanted him, you got him, hes not my problem anymore, hes yours". And I hung up. That was in 1982. Never heard from her again. I wasnt saved back then, I had a couple of boyfriends I lived with between 1984 and 1997. One was abusive, after almost 6 yrs with him, I left. Then later, 1998, started dating someone that was from my 4th grade class in elementary school. We got married in June of 1999. He passed on his 54th bday in 2013. After he passed, I gave my life to the Lord. I had been feeling him tugging at my heart for years, then I gave in. (I took a vow of abstinence after my husband passed, until I re marry. But If I don't, I'm ok with that too.) Then Aug, 2020, my first husband passed, just before he was supposed to get married again, for what I believe would have been the 7th time. So.... Now, I am a true widow. And am free to remarry. I will keep you in my prayers for answers for you too. God Bless! 🕊🙏💗

It is by far better to remain married than to divorce, but something that profoundly puzzles me is why the Church redacted Deuteronomy 24 in order to make it fit with their law that divorce was not legal for Christians. Verse 2 of that chapter says "2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife." If there was anything left of the marriage and anything left of the love he once had, then verse 2 is a deal-breaker for divorce, because no man would walk away and let another man have his wife if he still cared for her. Yet the Church says she can't marry another man, which is removing a lot more than a 'jot or tittle' from The Law that Jesus said He would not allow.

Excellent teaching on the subject. I certainly do not advocate divorce and remarriage, but some people beat others over the head with their own convictions about such things. It puts people in bondage. I believe this is true especially when one spouse commits adultery or leave them and the spouse has no desire to reconcile. It puts the innocent party on the bondage and not liberty. Very good and balanced teaching.

Nice message but it doesn't fully line up with scriptures. Jesus made it simple we can not divorce if we do we can't remarry. Paul said not to depart from your wife or husband. The only reason one can really remarry is if your partner dies. Any other thinkering on this really is not supported by the scriptures.
@Thomas116-m2n
@Thomas116-m2n 4 месяца назад
It lines up with scriptures in that Jesus discussed sexual immorality as being a valid reason for divorce. Paul did say for a believer who leaves an unbeliever not to marry after divorcing them BUT if the unbeliever leaves, the believer is not under bondage, freeing them. He says nothing about the believer remaining unmarried after the unbeliever leaves, indicating that the believer is free to marry again if the unbeliever leaves. So it IS supported by scriptures.

@stormrising2623
@stormrising2623 4 года назад
No. Read 1 Corinthians 7. Paul says if they leave, you are no longer under bondage. Most of the times divorce is mentioned in the bible it's really sending away. Like our separation today. Just as today you can't marry or be sexual with someone else if you are legally separated. You must be divorced and you will have a divorce decree. That's terminates the marriage. In those days many men just sent their wives away so they didn't have to justify an official divorce with proper grounds. Without the decree that would terminate the marriage and allow the woman to marry someone else. Any woman sent away by her husband was condemned to commit aduletry as they couldn't survive on their own. Which is why God COMMANDED they give a certificate of divorce so she could remarry.

This video and the comments following are a great example of why it says in Malachi 2:16 that God hates divorce.. It seems like in some instances, that righteous obedience attempted after the fact, can do more apparent superficial damage than continuing to live in sin. This is part of the reason why I refused to remarry after my wife left me. I'm not interested in trading my loneliness for obedience to God. Dragging another person down with me just because I can't be content with God alone, is not a life I want to reflect back on. My divorce changed me, and I welcomed the change. Divorce isn't the end of the world.. God's love is more than enough!

We all want to be loved and obey God, I look at the story of king david and wonder " he committed murder and adultery " if he repented and choose to stay faithful to bathsheba, God blessed him later on with more children. Then he can forgive us and see we all have good intentions to love the next person we marry. GOD NEVER ASK TO BREAK UP FAMILIES OR GO BACK TO EXS. if u lied stop lying, if u killed stop killing, I think if u committing adultery don't do it again. I pray we get closer to God because what he thinks matters the most. All humans are wicked but we can change. I think the bible tells us that.

Well, the Pharisees who asked the questions concerning marriage believed they could divorce their wives for any cause including seeing someone prettier. They didn’t realize their practice of divorce for any cause made them just as guilty as the woman they caught in the act of adultery. Divorcement for any cause rendered marriage pointless and just gave them legal grounds to switch out sex partners anytime they wanted. Honestly, I think what Jesus was doing in those verses was to restore the idea of marriage being a lifetime ideal which even most nonbelievers have today. I think most people intend on marriage being for life the Pharisees did not.

For the woman, remarriage after divorce is adultery unless the first husband dies. For the man? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. What exactly lines up with the Bible regarding divorce and remarriage? It is simple: Do not get a divorce, and remarry, for any reason, EXCEPT IT BE FOR SEXUAL IMMORALITY on the part of an unfaithful wife, and even then it is not required. A divorced woman cannot remarry scripturally while her first husband is still alive. Please read the following verse very, very carefully and slowly, and study and restudy it deliberately, as it is a command from Jesus Christ Himself: "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.” Matthew 19:9 NKJV Again (for emphasis): "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”

I just turned 40 I’m a lady. I would only marry a man that has never been married like me or a widower. Divorcees for infidelity are still in covenant with God. Only the lord can dissolve the Union but most people don’t ask God before ending their marriages. Which is endangering their souls and that of the new partners. I personally desire marriage contrary to others I’ve never been married, I guess I can’t put a cross on it as marriage still appeals to me and I believe marriage as God intended it to be is a blessing. Life can be lonely. As an immigrant in the USA with no family here, I desire companionship. I’m raising my daughter and waiting on the lord’s answer to my prayer. I was engaged a decade ago but God didn’t allow it to work. Come to think about it he always put a physical barrier between me and the men I could be in a relationship with. I trust him. Yes, only death of one of the covenant spouses allows someone to date someone new or marry someone new. If the first spouse is still alive and they marry, they both become adulterers and will not inherit the Kingdom. The exception clause is twisted today. JESUS came to magnify and clarify the law and didn't do away with it until heaven and earth pass away. He was asked in Matthew 19 if divorce was allowed for any reason and he said no. They were shocked and said it would be better if nobody married.. read the entire chapter of Matthew 19. The only exception is like how Mary and Joseph were betrothed before their ancient jewish marriage was complete. He used the word for single people in sexual immorality instead of adultery. I'm sure God is the same situation.. He was betrothed. But if you look at the angel talking to Joseph about not putting away Mary, he refers to her as his wife before they were intimate. Death is the only allowance. God told me to leave my 9 yr relationship with a divorced man. The only way to repent is to turn away as well. See Luke 16:18, Romans 7 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.

But this past year, I became baptized and gave my life to Him, and the Holy Spirit has changed my life drastically. He tells me I am forgiven. He clearly states in the Bible to have faith in His sacrifice, and I've repented and put it all at His feet. To say that I or my husband can never enter the Kingdom of God because we are remarried suggests that Jesus can't cover this sin. His grace is enough! When we repent of our sins, He is faithful to forgive them. I also have three children by my current husband. Would Jesus have us separate our family so that I can go back to my previous husband? Not to mention break the new vows between my current husband and I? I think not. Jesus stated that what I did was sinful. But He said He forgives when we repent. Thank God for His grace!

Allowing divorce in the case of adultery seems like a loophole. What's to stop someone who's married to either have an affair or convince their spouse to have an affair, there by giving them license to divorce that person.
@Apologia14
@Apologia14 15 дней назад
If they have an affair then they are the guilty party and they are not free to remarry. Likewise if the convince the spouse they are equally guilty. It is not a loophole. Under the Law if you committed adultery you were liable to be stoned to death which everyone agrees would free you from the bond of marriage. It is a fundamental breach of the marriage covenant.

I came to the same conclusion as you. I'm never the smartest person in the room but this time it looks like both of us are. The scripture is pretty clear, if you can't control your sex drive then remarry. That trumps everything. I'm not twisting the scriptures to fit my circumstances either. In my mid 50s, never did marry, and have zero children out there. As a male who is unmarried, not bad looking(but not great looking), no debt and celibate I get asked a lot of questions by people who can't fathom why I am not married. Most of the time I was ashamed at being single and hated talking about it. But for the last 15 years I find it to be a great topic to share who Christ is.

Glad to hear someone talking the truth these days, and not trying to pull the wool over my eyes, or make me so bored that I leave the room to read in bed. Check out the person you thought you'd be leaving for the one you or infatuated with and who you thought you loved or who you were wrongly asked to protect. Think of the whole family. The kids grow up and leave. You hardly ever see them. You wonder how much money they want from you, and how are they going to scheme you out of it this time? Those millennials always wonder and want what you can do for them. People the same age have very much more in common, and much more fun. I'm remembering that one slow dance I had with my last husband. I thought we were still together, and he was taken away. I have always wished I can be with him together forever, just not as we were. That was, abused by other people, not by ourselves and each other. Example of a bad relationship; Remember those clothes in the garage that had motor oil all over them? That person threw those out and you, someone told me. Even more, they wanted to hurt someone so bad that they squatted and put their menses on the living room floor where the other person was forced to sleep for fear something was going to happen to them in the bed. Someone put something in their drink, and they were so deep in a sleep that they missed two or three days. We love the one we said we loved. We won't run away from a hard situation, or a hard life seemingly, for anyone else but on their word. This is not hate mail, pornographic mail, or any of the sort. It is something that someone horrible did to another person. "Now they are trying to come back to you?" I asked the other person. There must be something deep that we have for those ones who were there, fighting like a push me pull you. I love you as you are, no matter what, and I will always be there for you." I told them. Love you Minister.

All laws in the bible are written as best practice with no sin. Obviously we all sin and do not live best practice, and so we will not live trouble free lives. King David And king Solomon had hundreds of wives, Adam and Eve ate the Apple.If we could live sin free we would not need Christ. The laws are showing us ,we all fall short of the Glory of Law and need Christ.

God says in the Ten Commandments not to commit adultery. Jesus’s says in Matthews that God made them man and woman and because of the hardness of the heart he permitted Moses to write this, but it was not what God had in mind. Jesus said fornication was the only reason. If God intended marriage to be forever then there should be no divorce. Moses was a man and not God. Moses made multiple mistakes, but our Heavenly Father did not. When God divorce Israel it was a separation, cause he has in the Bible called Israel to return to him. So, marriage is to be for life.

@@lindasmith3391 That's the intention but humans are flawed. We are flawed and our spouses are flawed. No one is required to stay in an adulterous marriage or one where the believer is abandoned. These are the two ways in which the marriage covenant/bond (whatever you want to call it) can be severed. It isn't ideal but a concession from scripture.

If non believers marry and are marrying without believing in God but go through the song and dance of saying the vows, is that God putting them together? There are many who literally pray, fast and seek God's answer to marry a particular person. Now that's a marriage God put together.

Remarriage is not scriptural for any reason except after the death of one’s spouse, even if one spouse is guilty of sexual immorality. The exception clause is stated ONLY for the question of divorce, NOT remarriage. Plus Jesus was answering their question in regards to Moses’ law, not Christianity. Paul states in 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 that separation or reconciliation are the only two options because you are BOUND TILL DEATH, 1 Corinthians 7:39, Romans 7:1-3. Remarriage is not part of God’s plan for forgiveness, reconciliation, or redemption. Remarriage, if your spouse is still living, is done purely out of fleshly and worldly desires. Reconciliation is God’s will and perfect plan, not remarriage!

It is scriptural. Matthew 19:9 and 1 Cor 7:15. According to the Law (1 Cor 7:39 and Romans 7:2-3), a woman (who HAS a husband) is bound until he passes. There were two ways that a marriage covenant would be dissolved, sexual immorality and abandonment by a nonbeliever. In addition, a woman who was Biblically divorced has no husband. Divorce was never the intention but it became a reality due to hardness of heart.
@Apologia14
@Apologia14 15 дней назад
I’m sorry but your explanation does not make sense and does not take account of the context. It is clear from Deut. 24 that one could remarry after the divorce. The only question was the interpretation of the lawful basis on which that could happen. The Jews had two schools of thought. One said it could for any reason whereby the wife displeased the husband. The other said for adultery. Jesus was being asked to weigh in on this. That is where the exception comes in. If you were correct there would be no reason to have an exception at all. Matt: 19:9 “9And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.” It would simply say: “9And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery.”

What if you don’t know the man you divorced is still alive or not, I divorced almost 20 yrs ago and married when I was too young and the relationship did not last, we were both too young. But he lived a dangerous lifestyle, he was into drugs, in the country illegally which I was about to get him his green card, but he drank too much was on the rd to becoming an alcoholic probably, I have suspicions he cheated on me since I was in the military and gone a lot and every time went looking for him he couldn’t be found, he loved to stay out too late at the bars and strip clubs and I heard was involved with some mafia people in California after we got stationed there, I lost contact with him yrs ago so I have no idea what’s happened with him? Clearly this was not someone any woman should be involved with but in any case if people divorce , there are more than one good reason for divorcing but why should a person go the rest of their lives lonely and unhappy? A person has needs, it’s not good not to be without, a person needs companionship, love , affection, love making, you need those things it’s not good for your mental health to be without

I see your point.... However, as this video argued, there have been concessions due to the hardness of man's hearts and a knowledge of a man's sexual drive. Does a divorced man/woman whom divorced without valid grounds (adultery/sexual immorality), commit adultery? Yes. Does that mean that every time they sleep together in their new marriage that they commit adultery? No. The concession is that it's better for a (divorced) man/women to marry then for them to burn with passion and be tempted into greater sin. It's better to get married again, commiting a single act of adultery, then to watch porn and spiritually fornicate daily or go to a brothel and have sex with prostitutes and fornicate over and over again. We have seen many times, with David as an example, that a woman can become another man's wife, while her first husband still lives. A good example of this is Saul's daughter Michal. She was married to another man, and God allowed David to take her from her husband to marry her (because she was promised to him to begin with). The husband didn't need to die.. He didn't even need a bill of divorce. Then we also have the example we have is in 2 Samuel 18-20. Absalom sleeps with David's concubines. When David defeats Absalom whom dies, the concubines are left as widows and David does not remarry them. This again proves that a woman can marry another without the first husband dying. This does kind of seem to be a one way street. A woman cant have more than one concurrent husband, but a man (if permitted by the Lord) can have more than one concurrent wife.

Jesus wasn’t talking about fornication or adultery as grounds for a man to put away his wife because under Jewish law that wife would have be stoned to death. The original Greek word used in that verse was “Pornea” ... some other kind of sexual immorality which, some scholars believe, could include pre-marital sex (I.e the discovery that she wasn’t a virgin when they married) or something else other than adultery.
