Thank you Lawrie for bringing a new, far more personal aspect to my favourite pastime of watching railway/aircraft videos on RU-vid. I hope you get your 100K in the near future so it all continues - subscribers or, who knows, pounds as well.
Your videos are always inspiring. They even gave me the Idea to do my year 10 work experience on the Isle of Wight steam railway and very soon im going to start volunteering work on the Bluebell railway. THANKYOU SO MUCH LAWRIE FOR THE INSPIRATION YOU ARE A LEGEND
@@lmm when I worked on isle of wight steam railway back in April, I found out that they have an old tram which used to run on the Ryde pier. It fully works and sometimes runs on the railway. I bet you would love it
@@johnblair8146 That would be on par with the little Ruston then, you have to get up close with it to appreciate how small it is compared to everything around it
Great Q&A Lawrie. Here's a good question are you going to be doing a video on Statfolds latest arrival? As it was seen in the background of your previous #loveyourrailway video.
Just watching Secrets of the Underground from last night, clip from next week's show with someone looking like Lawrie explaining to Tim Dunn what it would be like drive a steam engine in the early days of the Underground.
I know you said you'd like to go to America if/when your channel goes gangbusters but I think you'd also have an amazing time here in Australia, Tasmania specifically. Between the Tasmanian Transport Museum, Derwent Valley Railway, Don River Railway, Wee Georgie Wood, West Coast Wilderness Railway, etc, you'd fill out SO many episodes of familiar and yet alien content. Don't forget, the Beyer Peacock built K1 which now resides at Ffestiniog was the first ever Garratt loco and was built for us here in Tassie
That was actually very interesting Lawrie! As someone who knows more about steam locomotives than road vehicles as well, I learned a fair bit. Your videos are super neat, and they make me wish I could work firing/driving steam locomotives. The only real problem is that I’m based in North America and not the U.K. While we have some working steam locomotives over here, there are not as many, and it is quite expensive to drive them. One day though, maybe I’ll get lucky:) Keep up the great work with your videos!
The Illinois Railway Museum offers Take the Throttle on several pieces of equipment. You can also volunteer at various museums. You do have to pass tests for safety and operation of the equipment. I'm lucky to have 3 museums near me.
