Dr. Lawson, the dreams you are referring to are not extra-biblical revelation. I wonder if you actually know what is going on. I have been in the Middle East for many years; the dreams that people are having are leading people to look into the Bible and to look into the gospel. For example, when I lived in the UAE, a muslim man came to me and asked me for a Bible. I gave him one, of course, but I asked him why he asked me for it. He said that he had a dream in which Jesus came to him and told him to read the Bible. It is not an extra-biblical situation. The dreams send people to people to ask for Bibles, to ask for the gospel. I have run into these many times and this is exactly what is happening. I urge you to listen to the muslim background believers to see exactly what this is about.

Amen, they missed the mark not knowing the accounts of these dreams. I've heard accounts of muslim people having dreams of Jesus calling them to Himself, and they left the country to seek after Him in nations where it was more widely available to do so. I say praise and glory to God for such a miraculous act of sovereign grace.

@@The_True_ Thank you for replying! Yes, I have lived it myself, and there are some very strong believers who now walk a road of sacrifice because they followed that dream or vision. The man I spoke about in my reply obeyed the vision that told him to find a Bible. He loved the Bible after he got it, and he died mysteriously just two days after he heard the gospel as I was telling it to someone else right beside him. I could only be consoled in his death by the fact that he obeyed and sought out what the Bible had to say and then loved the scripture after he read it. There are lots of strong Christian believers who have had the experience and followed to find the gospel.

@@a.s.w.508 This is a divine revelation of Jesus to those He calls, and should cause us all as Christians to rejoice. Too often brothers and sisters get caught up in doctrinal disputes that have a good purpose, but end up a bit hardened by the experience, and react instinctively from that position without knowing the full story. That's what I believe happened on this panel discussion, since they have spent much time denouncing false teachers. But it is a good lesson that we shouldn't discount the miracles of God because some people fake them, and be slow to speak until testimony is heard and properly considered. A reminder that even great theologians are still men like the rest of us, and that we can learn from both the successes and mistakes of one another. May God our Father bless you and all these who He calls in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I agree. I love Ligonier and all that they do, but I think Dr. Lawson may have not known what is happening in the Middle East. I heard of stories and testimonies of many Muslim background people coming to Christ even though a missionary wasn't there to preach to them. They have dreams of Christ and hear words like "I am the Alpha and the Omega..." even though no one has shared the gospel with them. So when a missionary approaches them they are so eager to hear the gospel and follow after Christ. Why would a Muslim turn to Christ in a nation that persecutes them and even executes them for following after Christ? That person is either crazy or has encountered Christ. You said it well, this isn't extra-biblical revelation.

At 44:22 Dr. Derek Thomas says: "Suicide as an unforgivable sin is a Catholic doctrine", which is not what the Catholic Church teaches at all, This is part of what the catechism of the Church says about suicide: "(2283) We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives".
@fiddlinmacx
@fiddlinmacx 6 лет назад
I think that Dr. Thomas probably means that historically this was Roman Catholic doctrine. Thomas Aquinas taught this. Suicide as an unforgivable sin does not seem to be taught by the church in the 21st century anymore.
@LaFedelaIglesia
@LaFedelaIglesia 6 лет назад
Thank you for responding! Well, that's not what Dr. Thomas says here but on the other hand, the Church never has taught that suicide is the "unforgivable" sin, Aquinas and the Church then and now taught that is unlawful for somebody to kill himself. P.S. the Church's dogmas cannot change over time . . .

Okay, first of all I'm not sure why you would even watch this as all these people are protestants but I'll leave that up to you if you want to address that or not. The issue I have is with the TREMENDOUS amount of heresies that not only are written in the catholic catechisms but also in the documents known as the council of Trent as well as the Vatican Council. Jesus did say to Peter, "you are Petros (small pebble) and on this Petra (Rock bed), I will build My Church." The Catholic church believes as well as Easter Orthodoxy there is an "Apostolic succession" that follows Peter but there is absolutely no proof of that and the Roman religious system even though they don't really have names of so=called popes dating back to Peter, although they seem to pencil people in. As well as there are a few times there were two popes. They also are responsible for a mass amount of well documented murders and before you go and say Christians are responsible for the same thing, there is no telling that those people are Christian and probably were not. The history of the roman religious system is well documented from not only from secular historians but also within the systems walls. It is one ugly mess of murder and deceit on so many levels. Literally the system is almost to the letter carbon copied Judaism. The worst of course is the massive amount of catholic dogma they try to pass off as truth about the Word and what it says but are complete lies. I'm sure you are good and offended by now but I am not attacking you. I am and will attack what the roman system teaches because it is a false gospel and false doctrine. You mentioned that Jesus founded "one church." You seriously think there is one Roman Catholic system? There are so many versions it will make your head spin. Some claim they hold to the teachings of the council of Trent and the Vatican Council. Some claim they hold to some of it, some claim they don't hold to it at all but still want to consider themselves "Catholic." First you believe that you can pray for the dead which is wrong and against the Word and specifically Hebrews 9:27...."And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgement" Not really sure what you do with the CONSTANT warning after warning after warning to repent and believe now by God and if all you have to do is pray someone into heaven after they die why the overwhelming evidence of the warnings to turn before you die, as if you had anything to do with salvation anyway. Here's also what the documents you referred to and claim are true also say............ "Having entered deeply into the history of salvation, Mary, in a way, unites in her person and re-echoes the most important doctrines of the faith: and when she is the subject of preaching and worship she prompts the faithful to come to her Son, to his sacrifice and to the love of the Father." (Vol. 1, pp. 420 and 421)..... "Taken up to heaven she [Mary] did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us gifts of eternal salvation." (Vol. 1, p.419)......"She conceived, brought forth and nourished Christ, she presented him to the Father in the temple, shared her son's sufferings as he died on the cross. Thus, in a wholly singular way she cooperated by her obedience, faith, hope and burning charity in the work of the Savior in restoring supernatural life to souls. For this reason she is a mother to us in the order of grace." (Vol. 1, p. 418)......................................This is all false making Mary equal with God period!! This is heresy and idolatry at it's finest and also damning. This is found nowhere in scripture and the hermeneutical gymnastics you have to go through to grossly take God's Word out of context to supposedly prove otherwise is enormous. So many claim you don't worship her and that is false. Not only we could just look at all the statues and all the buildings dedicated to her. Pope John Paul the second had a giant M embroidered on his casket cloth with Latin words that mean, "I am totally yours Mary" on all the priestly robes. Not to mention transubstantiation which totally goes against the Word of God and nowhere is this found in Scripture. Mass is just crucifying Jesus over and over again, asking a priest for forgiveness, saint worship, constantly going against the second commandment, calling the pope Holy Father? Jesus said call no one your Father except the Father in heaven. Then purgatory? Seriously this isn't even close to being found anywhere. They say in the council of Trent if you teach justification by faith alone, you are cursed.............. CANON 9: "If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema." "because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin," (Rom. 3:20). "being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus," (Rom. 3:24). "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law," (Rom. 3:28). "For what does the Scripture say? 'ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," (Rom. 4:3). "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ," (Rom. 5:1). "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God," (Eph. 2:8). "He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit," (Titus 3:5). CANON 12: "If any one shall say that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in the divine mercy pardoning sins for Christ's sake, or that it is that confidence alone by which we are justified...let him be accursed" "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name," (John 1:12). "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law," (Rom. 3:28). "For what does the Scripture say? “ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS,'" (Rom. 4:3). "Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 26 For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; 27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself," (Heb. 7:25-27). "For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day," (2 Tim. 1:12). Canon 14: "If any one saith, that man is truly absolved from his sins and justified, because that he assuredly believed himself absolved and justified; or, that no one is truly justified but he who believes himself justified; and that, by this faith alone, absolution and justification are effected; let him be anathema." "For what does the Scripture say? “ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS,'" (Rom. 4:3). "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ," (Rom. 5:1). Canon 23: "lf any one saith, that a man once justified can sin no more, nor lose grace, and that therefore he that falls and sins was never truly justified; or, on the other hand, that he is able, during his whole life, to avoid all sins, even those that are venial, - except by a special privilege from God, as the Church holds in regard of the Blessed Virgin; let him be anathema." "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him," (John 3:36). "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day," (John 6:40). "and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand," (John 10:28). "so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign This so-called "church" is so against God I don't even know where to begin. I'm going to try to make this very clear. Get out of this why you can please I beg you! This also so-called church believes it's equal and on occasion above God Almighty. Imposes whatever it wants on the text and deludes millions into thinking this is the "true church." Please please loote k at this evidence! This is only the tip of the iceberg. You are right, there is only one church and that is the ones He chose before the foundations of the world. The question is how do you know you actually believe in the true God of the bible and not what some group of people claimed to be God? Millions did it before. You actually think man got better and made a church system that was right or is God still right about man and that fact never changed? Before I write book here I'm gonna go. I hope you read all this and know I am not attacking you as a person. I want to get your attention so you start asking questions. I pray God may open your eyes.

Of course he visits us, what ever happen to the phase God can do all things? I myself have had visions and healing in 2006, God is mighty! Compassionate, kind, and merciful! If you’re trying to be saved or stay saved, you’re probably not saved, nor do you have the assurance of eternal life that the true gospel gives to all who believe it. The narrow path is the path of grace and faith for all who have received God’s unspeakable gift. Notice the Scriptures say salvation is a free gift. How hard is it to receive a gift? One of the worst doctrines of the devil is to redefine ”repentance” as a turning from sin, which immediately negates the gift by requiring you to do something (works) to be saved. Repentance doesn’t mean a turning from sin. “Metanoia” is the Greek word translated as “Repentance” and it means a change of mind: Meta=Change; Noia=Mind STRONGS NT 3341: μετάνοια μετάνοια, μετανοίας, ἡ (μετανοέω), a change of mind: When you believe the gospel and trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior, you have repented, and you have eternal life, now and forever. You should know you have eternal life, now. 1Jn 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. It’s so important to get the gospel right. Paul threatened damnation twice (Gal 1:8-9) to anyone/thing who tried to add works to the gospel of grace he received from the Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. If you try to add your works to be saved or to prove you’re saved, you negate God’s grace and you go to hell. God will not be a debtor to any man, we can receive salvation as a free gift or not at all. Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. The Apostle Paul received the gospel directly from Jesus Christ and not from any man per Gal 1:12. Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. The gospel Paul received directly from the Lord Jesus Christ is found in 1 Cor 15:1-4. 1Co15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: The moment someone believes the gospel personally, that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day, has received the gift of eternal life. The moment they believe, they’re eternally sealed with the Holy Spirit, and are born again from above. When you trust Jesus Christ as your Savior you can’t go to hell because the penalty for all your sins (past, present, & future) have already been paid for. And only Jesus Christ kept the 10 Commandments and He imputes His righteousness; the righteousness of God, to your account the moment you believe the gospel and trust Him as Savior. You may not feel like it but you become as holy and righteous as Jesus Christ, and you’re now eternally qualified for Heaven. You are saved from hell and guaranteed Heaven when you die or are raptured because you believe the gospel and trust Jesus Christ as your Savior. The Lord Jesus Christ resurrected victorious over death, the devil, and hell. Every time someone believes the gospel, the devil and hell are plundered. Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. hoagy918 While I wholeheartedly agree that obedience does *not* save us, I wholeheartedly believe that you can’t separate obedience from saving faith and repentance that does mark you are justified. Sanctification follows justification. If it doesn’t, then justification never happened. Jesus Himself asked, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not what I say?” Repentance from sin is a work that God does in us, that is why it is *not* reliance on our *own* works to *earn* salvation. It is something God says *He will do,* and is therefore an evidence of your salvation or lack thereof, because God never says He will do something, and then doesn’t do it. It is beautifully described in Ezekiel 36 - Ezekiel 36:25-27 *I* will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols *I* will cleanse you. And *I* will give you a *new heart,* and a new spirit *I* will put *within* you. And *I* will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a *heart of flesh.* And *I* will *put my Spirit within you,* and *cause* you to *walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.* That describes repentance, which is a change from your love of sin, to a love for God and all He commands. Not because doing what He commands will save you, but because you are made a slave to righteousness. And when you fail to keep His commandments (because we *all* fail), we can come before Him with a broken and contrite heart (Ps 51:17), confess our failure, and know that He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
