Questlove Supreme travels to Atlanta to kick it with some of the city's musical architects. Organized Noize appears in a comprehensive two-parter. In Part 1, Rico Wade, Ray Murray, and Sleepy Brown discuss their approach to sampling, recall the early days of OutKast and the Dungeon Family, and have a few laughs about their formation. This conversation is not to be missed.

1:04:59 WRAS FM 88.5 “Rhythm & Vibes” was the show Questlove was referring to where The Roots and Goodie Mob freestyled for 20 minutes straight. Randall Moore & Talib Shabazz were the hosts.
@Mr.Majestic77
@Mr.Majestic77 Год назад
I remember 88.5 Rhythm & Vibes. In the 1990s the radio show was at Clark Atlanta University. I grew up on the music they played.
@jaycee763
@jaycee763 Год назад
@@Mr.Majestic77 incorrect. WRAS-FM 88.5 was Georgia State University's radio station. WRFG-FM 89.3 and Georgia Tech's WREK-FM 91.1 were the only other 2 stations in the city that played hiphop. V103 didn't embrace hiphop in their rotation until the brand new station Hot 97.5 (now Hot 107.9) came to the city in the summer of 1995. Clark Atlanta''s station WCLK has been straight jazz since they came on air.
@Mr.Majestic77
@Mr.Majestic77 Год назад
@@jaycee763 I stand corrected lol. You right. I recorded the music they played on my cassette tape and played on my walkman during my 8th grade year in middle school and my entire high school years. That era of underground Hip-Hop in the 1990s expanded my music content from Kilo Ali, Raheem The Dream, Hitman Sammy Sam and other local artist (legends in their own), Geto Boys, 8Ball & MJG, UGK, NWA, CMW, DJ Quik, The Click to the Dungeon Family, Native Tounges, Wu Tang Clan, Boot Camp Click, Onyx, Brand Nubian, The Roots, Nas, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Krs 1, Public Enemy, Jeru the Damaja, Crooklyn Dodgers, Ill & Al Scatch, The Pharcyde, Souls of Myschef, The Artifacts, The Beatnuts, etc.

the Sleepy Brown family tie with the Brick/Dazz vibe just blew my mind. I keep trying to find the right words to find why the roots in soul and funk can influence some styles so much, and that has got to be a huge piece of the puzzle. To have not just fans and popularity but also have family ties raising you in music, that is amazing history. Cheers to everyone involved and thanks for all the music.
