I'm only 33 minutes in, but there is one vocal performance that I want someone to ask Tevin about. That "Alone With You" performance on Jay Leno's show when he was like 14 years old is a MASTERCLASS vocal, and I don't care who you compare him against - man or woman, the greats. Period. I want to see him react to it or just recount anything from it. That performance is one of the greatest live vocals/performances I've ever heard, and he didn't break a SWEAT.

Tevin and Questlove are two of my most favorite people in the world. Questlove is so handsome, intelligent, hardworking and supremely talented. I’ve never seen him conduct an interview before and he (and his co-hosts) did a great job. I appreciate the fact that he was tactful and didn’t try to unearth the darker times from Tevin’s past. I also respect that Tevin honestly answered the questions and didn’t sugarcoat things. So many child stars get completely lost and never recover. It’s really wonderful that Tevin is doing well and can enjoy the fruits of his past labor. I would love to hear new music from him!!!

If you a further interview he did with a female interview he did address the dark times and he confirmed he is openly gay, and thsts ok. Its unfortunate at the time TC came on the music scene homophbia was alive and well. Thank God there has been much progression since then.

New to the pod, but I'm so happy RU-vid recommended this! Laiyah's reaction was EVERYTHING! I smiled during this whole vid. For us who grew up in the 90s the T.E.V.I.N. was IT!!!! Against who though? Tevin said in another interview that between the ages of 13 through 15 he was the only one during his prime at that age dropping hits and he didn't have any competition...when he got nominated for Grammys he was put in the categories with Ray Charles and other older rnb titans...the only other brother I can see being possible competition is Usher, as he was kind of out around that time as a pre teen ("Can We Talk" was supposed to go to Usher 1st but Babyface wanted Tevin to sing it) but even Usher at that time wasn't hitting, Usher didn't really start hitting until the late 90's when he pulled up with Jermaine Dupri with the "My Way" era...but Usher cool be the closest contender when it comes to them being from around the same era...just Usher didn't hit his prime until Tevins reign was about over. So there REALLY isn't anyone who could compete with him. Tevin definitely had the catalog for a Versus, but unfortunate he left the industry due to bad circumstances because if not he could've easily added more songs to his catalog to accumulate what Usher has accomplished.

Tevin refuses to even do an UnSung, so I think seeing him do a Versus would most likely not happen, he's very private...but we can only hope...but I don't know if Tevin would want to do one, and if he doesn't, I respect that, ya know?

I know Tevin had been out before Brian, but by Tevins teenage years and "I'm Ready" era Brian was out with him makin some noise! They were even on a song together, the Black Men United project (You Will Know), so their reigns in the industry kinda overlapped...what you think about Tevin VS Mr. McKnight? LOL! 🤔
