Quetiapine is a second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic. It’s approved by the FDA for schizophrenia, acute bipolar mania/mixed and depression, and bipolar maintenance (as an add-on to lithium or divalproex). The extended-release form is also approved as an add-on for depression.
Though its approved uses are limited, it’s widely used off-label as a single therapy for depression, anxiety, insomnia, OCD, and other conditions.

Was prescribed this shit for bipolar. Gained 30kg, slept 14-16 hours a day and felt like a zombie when I was awake. Also gave me ultra vivid nightmares and layered dreams.

I had to take this as a single pill dose after having a bad psychotic episode, and not sleeping for around a week. I forced myself to stop taking it despite my paranoia associated with my delusions, and auditory hallucinations, and I now feel a lot better. Reminding me of what happened does kind of cause a little pain in my head, but overall I feel soooooo much better than I had before I had the psychotic episode. Sometimes a change in environment/brain function due to age can cause these huge episodes. I don't want to say that you can always recover without the dose, but on such a low dose, I feel like you can get over it in over a month like I did, if you can withstand the compulsions and obsessive thoughts for long enough. You just kind of have to let your brain torment you for long enough, (and hopefully get enough sleep) and there's a good chance that your problems will revert, whilst your brain function kind of improves or adjusts to a new form of life. Don't be afraid, and you can get through it. That's what I will say to you after being involuntarily kept in hospital for over 2 weeks and refusng to take any drugs as often as possible (I was forced to on 4 separate days due to aggression, the first three in hospital and one a week in, firstly on ativan + risperidome, then risperidome for two days, then quetiapine a day a week later). I can say that I am more normal now than I ever have been in my life, kind of. Moving out and turning almost 25 was the cause of the stresses that made me have this psychotic episode, probably because life the way it was at my parents house was so delusionally structured compared to most normal people. Anyways... They prescribed it to me as needed just in case and I haven't taken it since, but it was very hard at first. Now, most of the delusions that would bother me have been dissipated, to a much more realistic understanding of the world. I continue to improve, so just throwing away the drugs would probably be best for me soon. Take care, though and have a good one.

One last thing Austin, look into Micro-dosing Magic Mushrooms. The study results are awesome and show success percentages far higher than antidepressants. I did try it a few times but its hard to find. John Hopkins did a huge study on people who were just told they were dying of terminal illnesses. Imagine how a depression and/or anxiety would go into hyperdrive if you do not want to die, but you're going to in a very short time. I believe the success rate was 85% using psilocybin to treat/ They say because depression is the most debilitating disorder in the world (every 40 secs someone kills themselves) this will become much bigger than weed. It helps with other things as well.
@mrafitzy17
@mrafitzy17 3 года назад
@@michaelfarar4232 I've never had the best experience with mushrooms. Usually get the runs so bad I think I'm poisoned and ruin the trip. Maybe smaller doses would handle better in my gut. I've also had cancer 2x so I know how that illness depression is. The best thing I've found for depression is to just keep moving. Stopping and ruminating are your enemies. My buddy put it as "if you're depressed, you're just feeling sorry for yourself" . I know depression well. It can be debilitating. But it's your life and up to you to make it what you want. If something is holding you back, you may need to sit and figure it out. But when you turn it all off you're only stunting your own growth.

Anne Goodwin Stay on the lowest dosage if you can. This drug can cause so many side-effects and it’s incredibly hard to come off, even at the lowest dosage. I was prescribed it after an antidepressant caused me to have a “manic-like episode” (in the words of my psychiatrist). I’ve tried on two occasions to stop taking it and I always end up crawling back to it. The first time I stopped taking it, I got four hours of sleep in one week. People told me that I would eventually fall asleep because I couldn’t stay awake forever, but it seems that the Quetiapine has altered my brain chemistry for good

High study dropout rates are not characteristic of drug studies in general. The higher rates of study dropout with antipsychotics reflect rejection of the adverse effects. Instead of considering dropout as data (surveying subjects why they drop out), the data are set aside or dubiously extrapolated. If you've ever taken a so-called therapeutic dose of an antipsychotic, you will understand why so many people drop out of these studies.

Thank you for the vid. Quetiapine is a psychotic (worsens what you may already have and everyone is psychic to begin with) antipsychotic ,and suicidal drug that is not a controlled or regulated drug and is no help long term me for 19 3/4 years on 300 mg daily for 8,000 days at a cost to my country's health system $50,000 that I would never have been able to afford. And along with Alpraolam .5 a day which is no longer advised, Clonazepam is, I have become a drug addict. Started for anxiety and panic attacks 19 2/4 years but was told diagnosis psychosis, then schizophrenia, bi-polar, depression, and a long list prognosis dementia. Was taking 6 years longer than age 65 when not supposed to. Quit Psychiatrist, got new Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist thankfully.. Had no therapy except once in 19 3/4 years. My side effects: motor impairment, neuropathy, eye pain, hospital visits, anxiety, PTSD (Post Traumatic Shock Disorder, suicidal thoughts, hair loss, tinnitus, cellulitis that still hangs on, cancer scares, morbid thoughts, sexual dysfunction, weight 206 pounds, 5' 3", edema.There's no program to go off Quetiapine, please don't go cold turkey. It is used to treat whatever you've got pretty much. I am becoming more "aware" and having a kundalini awakening with much pressure in my hostile environment body, people may feel awkward like they're going nuts but aren't, like other people, and are probably put on quetiapine. It affects 54 million people or more around the world who have a hard time getting off it. I was dropped from 400 mg to 200 mg and have devastating and debilitating symptoms that it's hard to go outside. My sister now has to drive me to Doctor's appointments. Namaste.

This drug has nothing good. I took this for depression, but I quit treatment after 3 pills. It made me like I was a vegetable. Very sleepy state, I slept for 20 hours/day and after wake up, I was still sleepy. I thought is was depakine I combined it with, so I stopped taking depakine, so I continued with seroquel. I was returning home alone on a street with cars, every sound was amplified, almost fall off on the ground after a car horn, every sound scared me, I was scared of every step I make, every move I make (I even scared at my own hand going from right to left in front of my eyes, over and over again, like every time was the first time), speech was very low and slow, thinking was very low, barely could stand up, I was conscious every second of it. It took around 14 days to fully recover, 7 days weren't enough, I still had that scare feeling even by moving my eyes from right to left. Depakine was great, it stopped my angry moments. Seroquel was terrible, maybe my doctor didn't understand what I need.

I find benzos to be an extreme detriment if taken long term for anxiety. You will develop a quick tolerance, and you can find yourself abusing it by taking more than prescribed to treat anxiety. It also is hard to obtain, being a controlled substance, and I have found myself unable to obtain it, and then suffering from withdrawal. They replaced my clonazepam with vistiral and seroquel, and I feel much better now.

Other inmates said they tried waking us up and we halfway woke up and walked over and got our trays and set them at the table and walked away and went back to sleep. From my own experience: If you can don't use Quentiapine. Its great for serious illnesses but not for things like insomnia, anxiety and other conditions that isn't psychosis or mania. It really makes you hungry, the weight gain is incredibly hard to avoid when you take it. It makes you feel tired so its hard to make your self workout so you can control your weight. Its also very tranquilizing, I cant imagine driving or even riding a bicycle when this stuff is in your system. Its definitely not the drug for treating sleeping problems, benzos or other sleeping medication can be harmful,but not the way this drug is. Avoid it if you can.

I am currently taking seroquel for bipolar 2, and let me just warn you right now It is helping with my bipolar symptoms and thats great, but OH my GOD if you have RLS (restless leg syndrome - very real and absolute torture) this is VERY likely to exaggerate that. Just like benadryl, within 20 or so minutes of taking this pill my legs will start to get that insanely uncomfortable feeling and then completely full blown go into a restless leg episode, its so bad 😭😭 i really love not screaming and wanting to die, but I also really can't handle the intensity of the restless legs when I take this so I'm in a classic win-lose situation

600mg a day, 300 IR upon waking and 300 XR at 8pm. Along with Tegretol it's really been helpful for Bipolar II and agoraphobia. It's definitely causing weird but tolerable side effects. I'd say it's worth it.

They prescribed me 100mg of seroquel for a sleep aid and mood stabilizer and the first night I took it was a night to remember. I took the pill and laid In bed waiting for it to kick in. Well about 30 min after taking it my heart started to race and beat extremely fast and hard. I felt sick. I started losing my vision. It all went blurry. I felt alone and scared. That one night has seriously made me worse off than before. I'm way to scared to try it again. The next day I felt like a zombie but not only that I had the same feeling the day after. My heart started to race and beat hard. And I started to have the same symptoms as the night be the night before. While I was DRIVING! So no more of this medication for me.

You will feel no “zombie-like” after using 3week or more. But personally, as I take this 200mg a day,I crave for fast food like hungry prisoner. Try smoking weed and take this pill. More CEV and faster sleep.

This was honestly the best sleeping drug I’ve ever taken. It felt so nice once it kicked in then I️ was able to sleep all night. They gave me 200mg a night right away cause I️ had just gotten out of the hospital for drug abuse. By far one of the hardest to abuse because all you do is get tired after the initial pleasure you get.

I have used this for 7 months, my doc took me off Olanzapine due to unpleasant side effects, I find it odd that people struggle with this medication. The only trouble I've had is I struggle to wake up occasionally, heart rate goes up a bit at night (countered with propranolol 40mg) and some days my words are a bit jumbled when they come out. But otherwise it has made a huge positive difference. Side effects are certainly worth the gain. PS: Thank you for making this video, it is very informative and has answered some questions for me. Much appreciated.

Can you please post any research showing how this drug was prescribed off label and its side effects ? Also abuse and addiction ? Any research that I can present to a friend to wake her up Id appreciate. She's been on this trash for 5+ years and won't believe anything I say about this. I've tried and feel she's in denial. She barely leaves the house , sleeps all day , up all night, major weight gain, memory side effects (I'm aware of brain shrinking study. And have showed her), food binges , and she hasn't been able to walk long distances for the last 2 or 3 years. Its Very difficult seeing her health rapidly decline while also sticking up for the drug company and her doctors. The main thing id like to do is make a mass presentation of documentation to her. I know it may be hail mary but I've gotta give it one more push.

This shit saved and improved my life! I think the issue is that the initially prescribed dose is too damn high. I started on 200mg felt the effects decided to cut it down to 25mg, then very slowly increased to 100mg. You gotta know your body, and pay attention to how you feel physically and mentally when you take it. I don't believe in that well you'll get used to it crap! I mean I don't disagree but ya you will get used to it and in the process fuck your mind even more thoroughly. I did that with welbutrin, cuz I thought I had depression boy was I wrong.

I take this in combination with olanzapine. Seriously wish weed was legal where I live as CBD has more of an anti psychotic effect on me. I want to add to this Quetiapine was a very big help when first prescribed. as time went on..... -lethargy. -oversleeping and STILL unrested. -weight gain without control over i -social anxiety exploded. - irritability increased. and worse is that I felt distant from everything. all of those things may be good on their own for so many things but I think long term is a bad thing.
