I seem to remember that before Anakin, Obi-Wan was actually one of the eldest younglings ever accepted. At like 4... So them saying she was accepted at 8 years old [while mourning] is really a slap to the face of Anakin getting rejected at 9 for some fear and being cold.

I love the reference you made regarding the first Jedi: Apprentice book, the one about Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan killing things in a cave with a Hutt in there. Very nice touch, I won't spoil anything else in case no one else has read it. I remember reading those when I was in middle school. At least three or four of them, I don't think I finished that series.

I wasn't super cool with how they handled Carrie-Anne Moss' character. First Mae's like "Jedi don't draw their lightsabers unless they're ready to kill" and so she puts it away. As if it can't be used for defense, or even severing a limb to incapacitate Mae. Then Mae throws her knife at the bartender, and Indara wasn't able to stop it AND defend herself? These are force users, and she's a master. One of the stapes of the Force is to be able to sense a second or two into the future and use their superior reaction time and the force to augment their bodies to react and defend themselves. You're telling me that she couldn't think of any strategy to defend herself while she was distracted saving the bartender? When Mae pulls the knife out and looks down at the bartender, why didn't Indara just push her before she throws the knife? Why wouldn't she push her WHILE stopping the blade in mid air? She could have jumped over the balcony moving away from Mae while catching the knife with the force.. Anything. This is a Jedi Master and she went out like a punk because she couldn't plan ahead 1 second into the future? Come on now.

Sometimes the Jedi would even try to torch the holobooks to keep the 501st from getting to them. Or they'd have Jedi trying to keep holocrons away from Vader and the 501st Legion troopers. It didn't work, but points for trying.
