Another of these 'quick craft' videos ...and in this one I'm making a little transition piece that allows me to convert from 2" wide passages to 1" passages.
Oh, that's very simple and elegant. Hmm. This could work really well with alcove pieces to make elevated single tile walkways or staircases between corridors and rooms, built on stretches solid walls. Lots of potential here! Thanks for sharing!
I am thinking of filming my (basic) secret passage piece that I'm using ...but I'm not 100% happy with it TBH (so I might see if I can improve it first :) ).
These are so amazing. Absolutely brilliant! Have you considered selling pre made kits and shipping them out for people who don't have the time to craft these? I know yours are some of the easiest on the market to purchase and assemble but it would be extremely helpful to some out there I am sure.
I know that my brother lost his job recently - so perhaps I should put him to work :) Seriously though ...if folks wanted to buy pre-made dungeons, I think they'd probably be better off getting something a little more robust/durable.
Realy, nice work and ideas !!!!! ... but still I think you should do something with the edges of the cardboard. Bare edges spoil overall impression :( I cover them with the walls texture, little more work to do, but it's worth it ! :)
Honestly, it really doesn't bother me in the slightest :) (plus it's not that noticeable once the dice are rolling). My own aim for all of this stuff (the tiles especially - as they're the most bulky), is just to have something that I can throw into a shoe box and take to the game (as I don't play at home) ...so not having to worry about them (as they literally took minutes to make) is a massive bonus for me. However, if I were playing at home more often, I would probably take your advice and spend the time and effort to make them look a bit nicer :)
...and now I want to trash all my rooms with 1" openings. JK, great work as always. Any we will see more sci-fi? For both fantasy and sci-fi, I would love to se some wall textures with ladders/lift-rails, so I would not have to build em myself.
I've not actually used any of my sci-fi stuff yet (as I've not been doing any sci-fi gaming) - so it kinda makes more sense for me to concentrate on stuff that I'll be using in the (fantasy) games I'm planning. However, when I do get around to running (or at least planning to run some sci-fi) it will probably dominate the channel for a while :)
Ingenious as ever. Can we still buy pre-printed versions of your designs? I am sure I saw them once but cannot find again. Not got access to decent printer and want quality versions for a project I am looking to do. Basically creating a whole ship for the nemesis board game and your space designs would be fantastic.
Where do all of these crafters get the double layer cardboard? Is it something you have to purchase special or are they gluing two pieces together first?
You just have to keep your eye open for it (or get friends & family to save it if they happen upon some - if they buy a new TV, kitchen appliance, or whatever ...my current batch is from a guitar for example). Though, I have to admit, I am running a bit low myself at the moment.
There are two types of cardboard. Single-layer (the type used in cereal boxes) and double-layered (anything that need to be a bit sturdier like the box used in most shipping) I mainly get mine from the supermarket or when I buy stuff online. The shop does not place each item individually on the shelf, but will place a box without lid of 20 packets of flour. If the box is empty (or close to) they do not mind you taking it (Disclaimer: ask them before you do it. The supermarkets by me do not mind, since they are gonna throw the boxes out anyway, but ask just to be sure.)
