This is a neat camouflage pattern and the technique gives a worn appearance to the model. Thanks for sharing this.

RU-vid needs more Camo Specs videos and so do I. I really enjoy watching these, and learning painting tricks. Maybe sometime you can paint some basic infantry?

This got me some amazing results, needed a snow biome company. Not only for alpine but also some hot pink and neon blue Canopus lunar mercs.

I paint all my mechs in camo. If I do House colors, then the model is kind of locked in when it comes to scenarios. With camo, it's a freelancer. Painting in camo also feels more creative.

I really like the results you've both achieved. These techniques produce the look I prefer. I'll have to try priming in white (or, maybe light grey) and black washing, again. Haven't done it in decades, since I found it easier to prime with black, and work from deeper/darker, to outer/lighter. Thanks for the demo. The mechs look excellent.

Not sure what the last video you watched was, but if it was the last recent video on cockpit painting, then that was a different artists tutorial. Glad to hear you enjoy the channel and if you go to the video description you'll find camospecs artist's links to instagram pages. Mine is hotelhobbyist.

I love to match camo schemes for my mechs based on the cultural background of the house or inner sphere state. For the clans, I tend to do something similar with some touches of the clans primary colors on arms legs, and so forth. Never been a big fan of house or clan specific colors or camo schemes.

Could you use a sponge instead of "stipling brush" to get the stripes?
@CamoSpecsOnline
@CamoSpecsOnline Год назад
You absolutely could. It may be difficult to get the sponge into some tight areas but you can also use a combination of brush and sponge to get the same results.

Could this technique be an alternative way of doing the GDL camo scheme?
@CamoSpecsOnline

Any color and shading wash/contrast could be used so the combinations are really endless.

I'd like to request a merc 'mech paint job video. Newly subbed and coming from the BattleTech PC game where player is a mercenary team trying to stay one step ahead of its creditors. As I understand the BT lore, there are basically no new bright, shiny 'mechs being built as the expertise, tech, and industrial capacity have been essentially lost. Based on those game mechanics, mercenary 'mechs are ad hoc - armor - and arms and legs - frequently get blasted off and have to be replaced while travelling between jobs with salvage or whatever can be bought. I figure that 'Mechs in a merc lance are going to look like a shade-tree mechanic's car: functional, but not uniform in paint scheme, dirty, greasy, blackened areas on the armor from jump jets, and slug and missile launchers. Any uniform color or logo, identifying the merc group would be on a small area that a technician would just slap on real quick and the paint would still be wet as the 'mech dropped to earn that next paycheck. I'd like to see a paint job like that, please...

Gotta try this out some point in the future, it looks like it's a lot of fun! But I've got a question regarding decals... I used some for the first time and I am now a little afraid they might slip off at some point in the future, is there a way to make them adhere better? Also the shape of mechs sometimes makes it hard to place a decal, you might end up with a recessed line underneath the decal, what is the most convenient way to deal with that? Place the decal and then cut it with a sharp knife or something?

Do we prime with white?
@CamoSpecsOnline
@CamoSpecsOnline Год назад
White helps you skip a step if you get complete coverage but I still suggest a quick basecoat of white over the primer to make sure you have a smooth and even base to work from.
