After getting my latest router i needed to make a new hinge jig as i like to them custom fit my router but to me they are very disposable so it has to be a quick and easy thing to make but still do the job and so in this video i will be showing you how i do this and maybe you could pass on your thoughts or ideas.

For closer marking when transferring the measurement use the utility knife, avoids a lose mortised openings, the pencil marks away from the actual measurement. The knife marking is spot on, for a better tight hinge fit. I’m disabled and sick now so I can’t produce how to vids. But I was a wood craftsman for 35 years. Learning is a blessing stay on it to sharpen your skills. Bless you all. Thank You for posting.

Hi Henry thanks for you help and when doing it by hand I fully agree and do the same myself however when using a router jig the marking is just a guide the jig if made well will give you a good fit every time, thanks for watching and you stay safe

Good stuff...... If the strip of wood used to clamp the jig to the door was positioned on the other side, the actual hinge opening side of the jig, with a small cut out to allow the router cutter to pass by....then this jig could be used on any thickness of door as the hinge would be positioned correctly from the Butt edge evey time (for this type/style/size) of hinge, as it stands it will only work on this thickness of door as a thinner door would cut a wider recess (for the hinge leaf) across the door edge and a thicker door the recess would be too shallow. Basically ...as we watch the video....screw the clamping strip on your (HingeButt) side of the jig and not the viewers side.

I liked the video, but I have some suggestions re; video production that will improve watchability, thus increasing viewership. We can't see alot of what you're doing, and the head mounted camera is a bit jiggy. Mount a camera above, then in post production zoom into the spots to pay attention to. Also, some of the sound quality is poor because your walls are too reflective. Try cleaning up the audio by dubbing over the sound where the quality is lacking. Overall, I liked the content. Thanks for this, it answered my questions.
