This is a terrible recipe. You are frying your meat and then boiling it. You are ruining it. You are better off emptying the meat to another dish and making the Mac Cheese the traditional way then adding the meat back. I can't even begin to imagine why anyone would do this.
We make a similar dish but we put the peas in when you add the water to cook the noodles. Peas will cook in about the same amount of time as the noodles. A helpful tip when ONE of you is really hungry NOW! I agree with Marnie who commented below. This dish has lots of options.
Thanks so much for the tip, my son loved your recipe. The only difference was, I chose to use unsweetened evaporated canned milk making it a little bit more creamy. Besides that, my son loved it and he hates peas usually. LOL Thanks again from the Derrick's in Indiana, USA
Great idea! Love the addition of the real cheese at the end. I’m thinking this could be done so many ways. Creamy white cheddar sauce with chopped broccoli or asparagus!
