Quick Foam Warbird Painting -- Making a C-27 Spartan from the E-flite EC-1500 

I had some requests for a more comprehensive materials list which I usually include in a written article on my site. My dad was stationed at Mansfield right before they got their C 27‘s! I remember watching these planes takeoff! I was so psyched when I saw that you painted up in the Ohio air guard paint scheme! Great job bro!!! I done mine in Olive green, used Army decals. Add gun on side to make a gunship. I use a sharpie to die LED covers, put paratroopers in bay. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻

I remembered the EPS plane days where Fiberglass is needed to stiffen up the plane, EPO is probably one of the best plane materials for foamies.

Oh yes, I like this a lot. I never cared for the orange color. The tech notes are very helpful. I have some paint schemes in mind as well. I think you should send a picture of it to Horizon and get a commission when they change it! You know they'll double sales. AirHammer out!!

I did this with my 2nd Sonic Binary. I got Callie Graphics to make some Low Visibility Stars & Bars and U.S. Air Force decals. I really like the look. Doesn’t look as good as yours, but it’s better than the plain white look.

It kind of funny, the new ones for sale now are in the military colors. I am actually looking for the Coast Guard colors.

The "Black Leading Edges" on the full size are not paint but black rubber De-icing panels or Boots that expand during flight to knock the ice build up off.

Great video. The paint lifting up - did it need cleaning of mould release or some kind of prep on the foam before the primer etc? Just wondering as thinking of painting eflite turbo timber and love to know any tips you might have to try and avoid the peeling issue. Thanks 👍

I'm getting ready to turn the eflite air tractor into an at802 longsword (pretty much the same grey you used). After removing the decals, the epo still looks pretty sealed. How necessary is the polycrilic at this point?

Does the added weight from paint have any noticable effect on flyability?

Posted notes is real smart idea...Just the nose wheel needs a simple retract mechanism BTW how much weight it gained in this process?

Hi Chris. Enjoyed this video. What clear gloss did you use. My flying field is also used by lots of sheep so my planes need to be wipeable. Is acrylic gloss ok or is a polyurethane better and will it make the room marbling worse.

You don't show how you do it, it is all in fast forward mode :-( But I am amazed by the super job done, awesome. Well done and I love to see your kid helping you out, my kids don't help me at all with anything

What use first?

Nice! I flew CG C-130s and was disappointed by the faux CG scheme on this model. It is "close" to the 1950/60s-era scheme such as HU-16s, but Horizon really took a wrong turn on this one.

Looks great. I never liked the paint as it looks like Nemo the fish in the Disney movie. Everytime I see the plane it takes my brain to the fish.
