Thanks for these. This one could have used a little more technical explanation. There is still too much i don't understand. But i'm grateful for these videos.
Your video is incorrect. It states Ben Ainslie is the joint most decorated sailor in Olympic Sailing. Much as I admire and have admired Paul Elvstrom (4 Golds) for all the years I have been sailing (approaching 50 years), his 4 Golds are toped by Ben Ainslie's 4 Golds and 1 Silver. Not joint at all!!!
1. It is a strategic sport, taking the risk will make you win or lose 2. For your dinghy to sail as fast as possible the boat needs to lay flat in the water, so that the least surface area of the boat touches the water and creates drag, to accomplish this you move you centre of mass as far as is needed away from the centre of the boat, the stronger the wind the more force pushing the boat to one side the more you have to compensate, compensating this is tricky and heavy, it is as well a test of your upper legs as of your abdominal muscles. 3. It takes also a great skill to manoeuvre your boat exactly so that your boat is the fastest LuckyK7777 is wrong, steering the boat is even one of the least heavy parts of handling your dinghy
