I am newly come to quilting and am thrilled to have found your wonderful channel. I love your teaching style! No endless repeats, waffle and rubbish, just pure demonstration tutorial - fantastic. Thank you so much for all the time and trouble you have taken to make a truly marvellous collection of "essential" how-to videos available to us all. Bless you for your kindness. With gratitude and best wishes,. Marion in the UK.
I love this method. I haven't used it yet but I have a quilt coming up with lots of hst's. The only thing I worry about is the gel pen you suggested. Have you had any trouble with these marking lines either not entirely disappearing or coming back at a later time especially on light fabric which I will be using. I just don't know which pen is best for that. Oh! Can you tell me the name of the starch you use? Thanks so much for helping us with the hst's you're going to save me lots of work and time. ✂️🌼
So glad to help! I use Frixon pens that disappear with heat, sometimes they can leave a faint line but the lines will be on the inside of your seams, so not visible in your quilt. They don’t bleed either. There’s a link for those in the description 👍 about starch, I just posted a video last week about various starches and what I use, makes a huge difference!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--I5-YDEGsdQ.html And it doesn’t leave a residue necessarily but I find it’s best to clean my iron every few months just from general use. Good luck to you!!
I use liquid starch bath and hang the fabric to dry on wooden racks with pool noodles on the rungs. No creases. I have asthma so any aerosol is a danger to me.
Could you please share what starch you use? I haven't been starching before cutting, but it looks like it made a HUGE difference, and I'm all about making the prep easy so I can get to the fun sewing part of the project... also, does the starch leave any residue on your iron? Thanks!
I just made a video comparing different options and showed what I use! Hope this helps! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--I5-YDEGsdQ.html
It’s Aloha Sushi from Dear Stella, I’ve had this for awhile so don’t remember where I bought it but I bet you can find it from a small shop on Etsy! It’s adorable!
