Gameplay of both languages to show the differences in text.
Taiko on switch has no English voice acting or songs that have been changed out. The only difference is the text and font size. It'll most likely be exactly the same in the localized versions, as we already know the full song list is unchanged.

(Diverging paths - where note placements will change depending on your performance and other variables. Very few songs have this gimmick, this one happens to be one of them.)

funny how the English version of the Japanese game calls it "Nintendo Switch Version", but the English localization calls it "Drum n' Fun".

Because in Japan they have actual Aracde machines for this game. So it’s just saying that some features in this version may be different from the Arcade versions. Just my thought 💭

Man, seeing this in English is so weird, I've loved the series for two going on three years now and have played so many games in the franchise that seeing it in English is quite strange. I'm gonna have to get used to it for when I eventually buy this version I suppose. My one complaint is that it's Extreme instead of Oni, heh.

@@Star.6739 I played it the other day and found it very interesting how the most heavily localized version of the game ever still calls it oni mode. Kinda strange they didn't keep that one in new releases. I'll always call it oni mode though.

They're still the same, this song just has diverging notes. It changes depending on the number of hits on the drumroll at the start.

How to set the language from Japanese to English is it possible? My switch language settings is in English only Taiko no tatsujin appears Japanese language

Odd, as it should automatically change depending on the system settings. Sounds like your game just isn't updated, on the home menu press + on Taiko and press "Software Update"

If I purchase the Japanese version (with the language set to English), can I still purchase the USA DLC from the eshop and have it be compatible? Thanks if you know!

No, the DLC is not compatible. You should buy the US version so you can easily access DLC. Or if you don't mind spending extra on DLC, get the Japanese version, it'll have everything

@@Kev2o2 Thanks for the reply! I might stick to the USA eshop version for now (unfortunately), though I would prefer the physical cart. It's a minor hassle to switch between regions on your account (and I can't remember if they lock you out of changing it after x times like they do on PSN).

The switch isn't region locked so the console can be set to US and using a Japanese account won't effect anything, same applies to playing a Japanese game using a US profile

@@Kev2o2 "it'll have everything (DLC) for the Japanese version. Does it mean there are more DLC available in the eshop japan (than in the eshop US) ? Also is the list of DLC identical between both eshops (jp vs US) or each eshop has its own local DLC content (for example eshop Tencent China has chinese music, eshop US has more US music and eshop JP has more japanese music) like the Apple Music Store model ? thanks a lot ! I can not find anywhere this information on the web and I am unsure if I buy the digital US, JP or Tencent China game version (as I am more interested in Korean and mandarin chinese songs)

@@laurentngu Songs are the same for each region, but some may be missing because of Copyright, like USA is missing some DLC Anime songs. Buy the game for whichever region you live in.

The Switch doesn't have region lock, all switches are able to play games worldwide. Accessing the eShop from other countries only requires to link a new Nintendo Account, it's free and only takes a couple minutes

Addition:Switch have no region lock,but some language will differ depend on which region your cardridge is and which region you buy game from eShop.For example,many games in eShop JP region have Chinese,but in US they do not have it. And some games cannot be bought from all regions,like Yo-Kai Watch 4 digital version can only be bought from eShop JP region.But you can still play it in any Switch console if you have a eShop account in JP region.

Have you restarted your switch? It does seem some people are having issues with changing languages, despite it just being changing your console language.

Any tips for getting better other than practice (duhh)? I used to play the ps2 version of taiko and just got back into it since its back in the US on switch. I don't have the drum because they don't sell it here and some parts are really tough to use the joycon on.

Can you be a bit more specific? Is it trouble hitting triplets, or anything higher than a 3 note string?

@@Kev2o2 It sort of depends on the song if there are lots of triplet patter where the pattern isn't the same each time those are tough and anything over 3 that's not just one note repeated like a roll. I though the old PS2 version had a practice mode where you could slow down section but its been forever since I played it.

@@manta965 If you're using motion, I recommend switching to buttons, it can hold players back as it's not always accurate Triplets that aren't the same; well there's no secret tip to getting around them but to practice the pattern, over and over. It will take some time to get used to. Try maybe finding a song that has slow triplets, and practice that before moving onto something faster. Anything over a string of three; I'm right handed, so I tend to start a string of notes with my right. You can try breaking down strings into triplets.. on the third note I know I will end on my right hand, so the next note must be hit with my left (so on so forth). It's something simple in concept but can be overlooked easily. ⭕🔴🔴⭕ R L R L ----- ⭕🔴🔴⭕ R L R R wouldn't be efficient

Sorry, that's because you have the English release (Drum n Fun), it only supports English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. The copy I have is the Japanese version, which let's me change to English and back.

It's in the description, although I do admit it's not super clear. This song has diverging notes, which changes the notes mid-song. The games are exactly the same.

It's both the Japanese version, but it will display English if your Switch has English as the set language in the system settings. International and Japanese releases are identical, it just comes down to which is easier to buy in your region Japan does get updates and DLC sooner but it'll cost more in the long run, especially if you're buying eShop codes online, like from PlayAsia
