To all the people in the comments complaining that inspections take too long and are a waste of time. Not doing an inspection could cause someone to die! Bald tires or metal on metal brakes MUST be brought to a customers attention! They are a major safety hazard!

You don’t use a band wrench to tighten oil filter, always tighten with hands, will get tighter once oil filter is hot

All of these comments complaining about things... Why did you bring it to the shop in the first place if you’re bitching about it. Just go to jiffy lube and get your oil changed there. They also come with a free service of rounding and stripping your drain plug for free

Trust me, if Toyota TXM techs didn't have to inspect every vehicle, literally doing JUST the rotation + oil change your car would be out FAR less than 15 minutes!

The order of this is funny, at my shop I check the engine oil level first, then pull the plug, let it drain while I check/fill all the other fluids and components. Make up time anywhere you can man. No sense standing there watching oil drain.

Be sure to spill as much of the fluid as possible on the engine and floor.

what about the blinker fluid?

oh yes, and make sure to spill at least a quart of every fluid EVERYWHERE while you needlessly top off the fluids.

Draining clean oil? coolant looks full? Its a new car.. looks like an easy inspection. Look at an average car or old car to see how well you can do.

5:25 wait, use a band wrench to torque? Toyota can filters are usually 20 ft lbs and there are torque wrenches for that That was really good that you used a rag while adding oil. some oil guns are fast and toyotas have a baffle that might splash, making a mess

That has to get real boring real quick to do on all of them generic Toyota's with little wear and tear on them. Should be checking brake pad levels before just filling brake fluid too. Will just be masking wear that way

Honest question: What do you guys do when you get a seized on filter cap? Or one that's rounded? Do you charge the customer for a new one and the labor to break it off? Or do you just eat the cost because of Toyota's crap design?

Customer should blame the company not the techs, because when I worked there they had us running around all they and lot of pressure, and some 20 year old kids even competing with each other like they were on contract stupid kids, now you know how mistakes happened, now I just work in other shop where I take my time make sure everting is good I do get complain about the time taking little longer but its not jiffi lube.

NEVER GO TO A JIFFY LUBE ! THEY COST ME NOT 1 BUT 2 OIL PANS. BY STRIPPING THE BOLT. ONCE ON MY CAR THEN ON MY SON'S CAR. THEY WANTED TO DO A FULE INJECTION CLEANING ON ONE OF MY VEHICLES THAT HAD A CARBURETOR ! WHEN I SHOWED THIS TO THE TECH, HE TOLD ME IT WAS THE SAME THING ! THAT WAS MY LAST VISIT.

Good to see you go to alot of effort to try and do things correctly, but forget to clean the old service sticker sticky stuff off the windscreen and just put a new one over the top. 🤣🤣🤣

Why torque the damn plug and filter? Just the other day i had to use a breaker bar on my sisters honda because those dumb techs torqued the plug down to 100ft lbs!

You are causing more damage to the engine putting back that dirty air filter after removing to “inspect” it. If the current mileage is not on a “30k” interval when Toyota says to replace the air filter, leave it alone.

The inspection is why oil changes take so long, shops are obligated to inspection the vehicle before it leaves..because we all know quick people are to get a lawyer when something goes wrong...

The conditions on this sample vehicle are perfect. There are a lot of "what ifs" Like debris in the cabin air filter.

I'm glad to hear 5,000 miles instead of 3,000 miles. I wish I could get a job as a lube tech but so far it's been a little difficult since I don't have my license yet. I do have my permit, but the DMV hasn't opened road tests back up in my state yet.

The lube guys in my town smoke pot all day long, barely do an oil change and then bitch about how stupid the customer is while they fill out the paperwork checking boxes saying they did all the stuff they didn’t do. The one guy didn’t know what a torque stick or torque wrench was. Just blasted the lug nuts till they were “on”.

Don’t forget to drain transmission fluid and refill thru oil fill tube, than fight in court that the person doing the job knew what he/she was doing🤪

Those lifts they got are not good for pavement princesses asking for a oil change and TIRE ROTATION.

In 35 yrs I've taken my cars in less than 10 times to have someone else change my oil. I never realized how much money I save doing it myself and knowing I did it right! I can buy Mobil 1 synthetic oil and a Mobil 1 oil filter for less than $40 at Wal-mart.

Try doing this with 40 oil change waiters while having to work on the vehicle alone at the same time service writer is nagging you to get it all done in under 10 mins so it can go wait to be washed for another 10 to 15 then god forbid its has a rotation with air filter or cabin filter change then having to go wait for parts while still being nagged by the service writer and the customer getting mad why its taking so long. You yell at the service writer to give some of the ROs to the techs who should help out but some of them are too good to do oil changes. Then when you have to use the bathroom oh man get ready for being yelled at some more. Oh how i dont miss working at dealerships. Oh dont forget your under pressure to "find" something wrong with the vehicle so the service manager looks good for making customer pay profits if not they will do false warranty claims to bring in (steal) money from corporate. If a tech isnt profitable to the shop you be fired. Even if you have a car that has a bunch of things wrong and the customer says no its not the service writers fault for not upselling they blame the tech.

I took my new Toyota for it's first free oil change/inspection at the dealership. Got it back two hours later and drove home. On the drive home, I noticed the hood was not latched all the way. At home, I checked the oil level and it was overfilled by about 3/4 qt. I then noticed a oil spot under the oil filter ( they forgot to whip the filer off). I will do it myself from now on.

One of the worst jobs I’ve ever had, I was payed 10 an hour and they expected everyone to work like a nascar pit crew and mind you that everyone working there is fresh out of high school and have hardly if any actual hands on training.

I personally do all of my mechanical work at home. I know my vehicle better than someone that looks at it for 20 minutes while trying to find every little thing to charge you money for.

The oil wasn't even completely drained and the technician put the drain plug back on... even if it's for illustration purposes, that's not setting a good example since this is a training video. One more reason to change your own oil...
