Quick Overview Split Operations on the FT991A Using VFO-A and VFOB

This video gives a high level overview of handling a CQ Pile Up for example on the calling Frequency 28.400, and how to take several stations calling you and spread them out across 5-15 kHz (asking them to transmit anywhere from 28.405 to 28.415 and use the same receive frequency, this allows you to listen across multiple frequencies and transmit back to those stations on the original calling frequency

Extremely helpful, I was wondering how that works. I have a FT-991A and that was very confusing for me. Thank you for clearing that up Steve and thank you for sharing. I am looking for some videos on how to get to know the FT-991A better. Thank you. KO4UWU 73

Thanks Steve! Great overview and I’m sure it will all gel together when actually demonstrated on the radio. I’ve been doing Parks on the Air recently (ok, I’m hooked on it, lol) and if you ever want to be on the business end of a pile up, Parks is the way to do it. It gets kinda overwhelming sometimes, and doing this split thing will definitely come in handy. Thanks again! Mark- KG7ZML

@@westtexasvideogateski5juf255 Yeppers. I've got my audio out tuned to "me" fairly well. Also big add on help from KA5DOB Jimmy (dude is super cool will help with almost any rig/mic combo. Golden ears). I can honestly say your vids helped me get there. The manuals only scratch the surface, you dive deep. I can also honestly also say that your vids have helped me "get to know" my 991a better than anyone out there.. Any chance I get I'm sending folks your way. You are the currently the "unsung hero of the 991a" & I'm crafting songs.. 100% appreciate your efforts buddy!

TxW = "Transmit Watch", you'll find this makes more sense than any other explanation of the letters "TXW".

A=B copying the contents of A into B. If you know about computer programming, then you might agree that it should actually be named "B=A", or better yet "B:=A". A->B might have been a better choice too.

Hi Gus, well that's a good question, we've had so much hail and wind my HF antenna is off-line, I have a plan to get it back on-line soon, I get that demo going I've wanted to do that for a long time, thanks again for the message '73 sir keep in touch
